Saying women are adult human females is not reducing women to genitals and pregnancy. It's saying sex matters and impacts our experience of life on Earth. It's saying a woman does not need to do or be anything except female. It says all female humans, no matter how they present or what they do or whether they can or choose to have children or not, are equal in womanhood.

This is the exact logic child rapists use when they say "well I thought she was 18". A 16 year old girl gets raped by a grown man in a bar, and the rapist thinks he should get a pass because she got in with a fake ID.

can you imagine how ridiculous it’d be if i said that men should spend 3 figures each month on beauty “maintenance”, should be bald from the eyebrows down at all times, should be slapped and choked during sex, should have to cover their hair and bodies for “modesty”, aren’t allowed to look older than a fucking high schooler….

yet these same standards are enforced onto every woman and girl. interesting.

the buzzfeed girlboss era of feminism caught a lot of flack for many justifiable reasons but it's truly insane just how far we've regressed since then. like maybe manspreading discourse was silly but at least the mainstream popular view for a while was that feminism is good. now if somebody says that women should be wary about fully relying on a husband for financial support they're told they're being a misogynist and that CHOOSING to be a stay-at-home mom is totally empowering because it's a CHOICE. if you say "hey it's kinda concerning how basically every popular romance novel treats abusive men treating women terribly as something sexy and romantic" you're accused of kinkshaming and puritanism and misogyny.

Like you, you set that system up. African men in their own countries practiced child marriage and polygamy long before Europeans darkened that doorstep. Cases of multiple child brides cooking and cleaning for one man, doing all the domestic and reproductive labor were common in many African tribes pre colonialism.

As a black woman whose experienced firsthand the misogyny black men wield over their communities I hate the noble savage trope men of color are painted with.
