what is your view on a woman killing her rapist? doesnt the intention and vulnerability of the victim matter even if she is the aggressor later? not a comparison to the political or ceo being murdered btw, but rather when you said murder was wrong no matter what. the law should be upheld and private citizens should not kill someone just because they believe is bad and should face consequences if they do but context matters. a man saying that would be different from a woman saying that, for example. if you're worried about the same justification being used to hurt vulnerable people that someone considers 'bad', and that not condemning a man killing a ceo is bad, then acting as if all murder is the same no matter what helps these billionaire corporations' agenda and will hurt someone. no matter what someone's gonna get hurt and someone will be implicated in varying degrees. i understand your point perfectly and i'm inclined to agree that inherently all murder is equal as in the taking of a life is a tragedy, but from a broader perspective, can't account that well for inequalities in systems

my point isn't that all murder is wrong morally or that all loss of life is equally tragic. a woman being raped and later killing her rapist is morally okay to me. but in a civilized nation in which laws are applied fairly, I understand why we cannot allow killings to occur without punishment. the point of relying on law and the justice system to respond to crime rather than moral judgments is that every single person has a different view of morality, so therefore we defer to the universal laws, and have judges and juries interpret the law in the most fair and unbiased way they can. so there are non-self-defense killings that I find totally moral and fine, and other murders I find reprehensible. there are murder victims who were totally immoral, horrible people. but that's the point, it's not up to me or you, or any random joe on the street to decide what type of killing is okay or not okay, or to decide when other people should die. I believe judges and juries should, and luckily frequently do, take into account extenuating factors, like past events, and give lenient sentences when appropriate. self-defense killings should not land one in jail, to be clear. but revenge killings just can't go entirely unpunished, even if some of us agree that the revenge was enacted fairly and morally. not to mention that anyone with the capacity to commit murder, even if the victim is a piece of shit, should probably be at least known to the police and evaluated to go to either a psychiatric facility or prison, for their mental health or the safety of the public. I hope that makes sense. it's not a morality thing
