I don't think people who come from wattpad after the purge and now want ao3 to have its own official app understand that one of the main reasons behind the recent wattpad purge that drove them to ao3 was due to pressure from appstore demanding wattpad to be more strict and follow appstore's policy. wattpad complied in order for its app to be able to remain on appstore. thus the wattpad purge.
ao3 doesn't have an app because for it to have an app, appstore will have to approve it first. and if, hypothetically, ao3 needs appstore to approve it, it will also have to abide by appstore's pro-censorship stance and start banning dark and taboo fics, which is against its own core principle of being completely against censorship.
ao3 doesn't need an app. it works more than fine without an app. the reason ao3 can allow dark and taboo fics, the reason it can allow the most disgusting and shockingly vile fics, and be completely against censorship is because it doesn't need appstore's approval. it stands on its own as a non-profit organization with functioning site and a team of lawyers protecting its platform, its users, and every single fanwork on its platform.

Hey idk who needs this but helpful reminder that "virgin blood" in any witchcraft shit that requires that means "virgin" in the same sense as "virgin hair" means hair that hasn't been dyed or processed in any way, natural in the default sense. "Dead man's blood" is a completely different ingredient than fresh blood! And just like "virgin blood" doesn't need to come from a virgin, the age and gender of the deceased is irrelevant to it being dead man's blood. It would affect the spell, the same way if you were baking a chocolate cake, and the recipe asked for a cup of whole milk, and you decided to substitute it with a chunk of cheddar.

Yes, this. Lots of fanworks on AO3 are unambiguously legal. Fics based on Shakespeare plays and fairy tales and Greek mythology and The Great Gatsby and your original character from your D&D game are not violations of copyright, because no copyright applies to those things.
AO3 still doesn’t let you monetize those things on the site, because we don’t want the site to be commercial! Because that’s not what it’s for!
It’s not there for you (generic you) to make money off the efforts of the people who build and maintain the site for free! We aren’t getting paid for the work we do to give you a nice site to use, just like you aren’t getting paid for the work you do to create whatever art you share there. Because fandom is supposed to be a community where we share with each other, and therefore we all benefit.

I’m have been scammed, they took all my money and they even changed my account email and password through hacking!!!
I’m currently working on getting a new credit card and trying to get my money back (most likely unsuccessfully)
Because they changed my email and password I might not have access to my account for very long and I can’t login on my computer. I only have it currently on my phone and I don’t know how long that will last. I don’t know if Tumblr will be able to help me. I might have to make a whole brand new account with a different email.
If you see this account or anything similar saying they accidentally reported your account for fraud and need to take action, block and report them, your account hasn’t been reported and if your really worried contact Tumblr directly, not who they say to contact especially through Discord!!!
I’d even go to this blog and block them now for peace of mind.

- Roll clothing or towels and block all door and window gaps

If you have, or can get, bubble wrap, tape that to all windows, as it creates a kind of double insulation!
Every removable pillow and cushion goes in that room, against the walls.
Any kind of cardboard or foamcore can be pressed into window wells or taped over. Put wadded up newspaper or bubble wrap between the pane and the foamcore. Duct or painter's tape can hold the cardboard or foamcore to the wall. Mound laundry and blankets around you. Make sure pets have a similarly squishy bed to curl up in. Pet carriers are great for huddling in, and it's good to have them out anyway in case you MUST relocate. Food and water go close enough they don't have to come all the way out, if they don't want to.
Remember that to insulate, air pockets are necessary. Don't pack clothes or newspaper loose, but don't squish all the air out either. Insulation is made with foam or blown fiber for a reason. Air pockets in a non conductive material trap the cold instead of passing it on.
It is honestly way less miserable stuck in a single, insulated room than free roaming a house that is cold.
If your area is expected to be hard hit, prepare some of this in advance.
Keep your phone charged BEFORE the power goes out! Put it back on the charger when it reaches 80%, I am not kidding.
And, final tip, if you go outside and get REAL cold, take your clothes OFF when you get back and put different ones on. Preferably ones the cats have been laying on, but even if they are cool, as long as they are warmer than the ones you have been in outside, you will warm up faster. Even swapping just outer layers is helpful.
OH!!! Also, don't burn candles in the weatherproofed room. Bad for pets anyway, and they will use your oxygen and put carbon monoxide into the air, and that can make you sick. For real, even in a big house, constant candles will make you feel so gross after a while, and carbon monoxide BUILDS UP, from what I understand, it doesn't purge through lungs like carbon dioxide, it binds in your blood like oxygen and circulates like oxygen, using up space the oxygen would be using. It will build up over hours or days and make you feel nauseated, grody, headachy, and just generally foul. They are warm, but they aren't good for you. I made myself real sick like this in '07. Don't make my mistake.
In a pinch, stuffed animals or any kind of plushies will make great insulation. I spent my first night in my first apartment in winter sleeping under a mountain of stuffed animals because I could not find my blankets. Worked like a charm!

Apparently ICE now has agents posing as utility workers to get into people's homes. The electric and gas companies have posted information on how to tell if it's one of their workers, and numbers to call to confirm whether they've sent someone to do utility work on your house.
