I believe the main reason why ai deep fake can legally be considered sexual harassment--while rpf cannot be legally considered sexual harassment, unless the person who's being written about wants to take legal action (I don't even know if they can or on what ground, but I believe it won't be for sexual harassment), and that's another story--is because ai deep fake is "that person's hyper realistic face being portrayed in a sexual manner, and it can be difficult to know for sure if the image/the video is real or if it's ai", that's why it's harmful. while rpf is just words on the screen that are clearly portrayed as fanfiction. nobody is going to read a smut rpf on ao3 and think "oh this actually happens."

that's also why bad people hurt other people by creating ai deep fake about them, not by... writing a smut fanfiction about them.

it’s literally always okay because it’s fiction. doesn’t matter if the reader character gets sexually assaulted or decapitated or cannibalized or yeet to the moon or put in the human centipede au where their mouth is sewed to another character’s anus and they have to eat their feces. it’s fiction. IF someone chooses to read an x reader fic that is properly tagged as non-con, then they consent to reading a fic where the reader character goes through those things.

the reader character IS a fictional character that an actual real-life reader is supposed to imagine themself as, if said real-life reader wants to imagine themself as this reader character (that’s why fanfics with reader insert were originally called Imagine — back in the days, reader character gets sold to one direction to be their sex slave all the time in all those one direction x reader imagine, that’s like the most popular thing back in 2012-2013-ish). the reader character is not actually the reader, they’re not actually a real person with life or feelings. they’re words on the screen that people must choose to click on and read on their own free will.

nobody is actually getting harassed because their reader character is harassed in a reader-insert fic. if someone chooses to read it, then they consent to reading it. nobody is forcing them to read a fic where a fictional reader character gets assaulted.

there’s a huge difference between writing a dark fic where the reader character — that is a fictional character in a fictional story — is violated, and harassing a real person. the latter of which has nothing to do with a reader insert fic, no matter how shockingly fucked up the fic in question is.

writing non-con fics does not hurt anybody, because fictional characters are not real and therefore they cannot actually be victims. whereas this person’s vile action caused direct harm to a real person. and they did it for the sake of imaginary people that don’t exist. absolutely vile. what’s even more sickening is that antis usually think they’re the morally superior ones by doing this.

I don’t read or write reader-insert fics or fics with ocs. but as far as I know—while you can say that the reader is basically an oc—a non-reader oc is usually a character whose backstory, personality, and physical appearance have been decided entirely by its creator. while ‘the reader character’ is supposed to be a blank page, blank role where any reader can step into and feel like this is them. obviously I get that even Reader character has to have at least some personality, they have to make some decisions or say things that are decided and written by the author. but unlike ocs where it’s 100% author’s influence, a Reader insert is usually about 10-40% author’s influence.

also by your logic about reader being an oc, which is not untrue, every canon character is also an oc. because canon characters are their original creators’ ocs. every single character that has been written about is an oc. but we create different terms for them so that it’s easy for us to know what role of a character we’re looking at.

here’s the definition of whump.

whump can have any ending you want, happy, sad, bittersweet, hopeful. whatever you want. the term whump only means “character going through bad things”, but the term alone does not affect or dictate how a story ends. it’s the same as “horror movies can either have a happy ending or a sad ending”. a movie being a horror movie doesn’t say anything about its ending. the same applies to whump.

Again I don't post anything I haven't written with my own fingers, and my work is the only stuff I'm putting into the AI. If I like anything it's come up with I will write the scene or concepts from scratch in my own words. To me this is like spitballing ideas when I'm struggling with what to do next in the narrative, but I honestly wonder what other people think of it. I don't tag anything I post as AI because I don't consider what I do AI generated because I rewrite the ideas from scratch if I use one at all. This happens maybe once every 15 to 20 chapters, otherwise everything is my own imagination.

I’ve already answered similar questions several times before but no, if YOU write the works yourself then your work is human-made and there’s no need to tag it as ai. I’d even say that, in my personal opinion, tagging it as ai would be considered mistagging even.

I mean if you think it should be tagged as ai just because you got some inspiration from it, then by this logic every writer who got their inspiration from tumblr prompts should tag their works as “tumblr-generated” and that just doesn’t make any sense.

or if you ask a human beta reader to edit your works for you, you still don’t tag your works as “written by my beta reader”, because you as the author write them yourself, and your human beta reader just helps edit them. your works won’t automatically shift to something-written-by-your-human-beta-reader just because your human beta reader touches them.

if you’re a human and if you write it then it’s human-made and it’s something YOU made in my opinion.

an ai-generated fic to me is a fic that is actually generated from start to finish by ai. it’s pretty self explanatory.

most people who say “you should be honest and tag it as ai” don’t really see this type of work as ai, but they want to remain morally pure by staying away from anything that ai has ever touched. so it’s more about them believing they’re no longer morally pure if they unknowingly read a human-made fic where the author is not as morally perfect as they want them to be. but tbh I believe this mindset is exhausting. if they want to stay morally pure by only engaging with works written by morally pure authors, then what about authors who have never used ai once in their lives but have done something else that’s unrelated to ai that they disagree with? what if the authors don’t share their political views then? these things have nothing to do with their fics, of course, but I bet these people will feel like they’re no longer morally pure if they read their fics. so what now? should fanfics writers start disclosing their political views and every wrongdoings they’ve ever done in their lives to ensure readers who want to stay morally pure stay morally pure even if what the authors do in their personal lives have absolutely nothing to do with the fics? it just doesn’t make any sense.

But am I wrong for asking artists to tag their shit anyway? It’s uncomfortable even if it’s normal for the fandom. I don’t want to leave the fandom because I like the normal ships, but even normal artist sometimes do incest because it’s so popular, so I can’t block every artist because I want to see their normal works.

A friend told me if I wasn’t in the fandom I wouldn’t even know its incest from art because it’s just two adults but I am in the fandom and I know!!

I’m not gonna guess if this is about supernatural. but in all seriousness you can politely ask them. that said, whether or not they will tag it as incest is entirely up to them. also if they post their stuff on tumblr then the bad news is that I believe tumblr banned the incest tag, so if a post is tagged as incest, it will not show up on any other tags at all and basically tumblr will “shadowban” the post or in some cases the entire blog. which is why most artists on tumblr avoid banned tags, even if they are supposed to be used as trigger warnings. in my opinion, the best thing you can do is filter out their ship name.

Some people agreed with the op and some people said fandom is not an activism - maybe people are racists that's why they're writing white specific fics but you can't do anything because fics are people's hobby and they give for free to others. They are not a Hollywood movie to attract each demography. And said they should write the fics themselves.
