Twitter update for those of you wise enough to be staying away.
So Elon found that the app was running slow, and was then corrected live on Twitter by an employee.
As you might imagine, our special boy took this very well
But weâre not done yet! Because Iâm sure youâre wondering âhow on earth did he end up making it so that Twitterâs no longer slow?â
Well before the guy was fired, he was asked what his take was:
So AFTER he was fired
(and if you donât quite get the technobabble, basically Elon stole his idea)
But wait, weâre still not done!
He mentioned that he would be turning off a bunch of âbloatwareâ, yeah? You donât think he authorized them shutting off something really important like, say, two-factor authentication, do you?
Nahhhhhh, Iâm just messing with you! He didnât deactivate two-factor authentication and open a huge security risk! Donât worry, everyoneâs Twitter account is still secure on that front!
So secure in fact:
That he DID turn off the microservice for sending your phone the 2FA confirmation code.
Elon has owned this website for a little over two weeks
Sometimes I say self loathing things to my therapist and he looks at me dead in the eyes before saying âYou fucking moron.â and tbh same
Me: I think I donât exist.
Therapist: Listen, you do exist, and if you didnât, someone would have to create you because the world would be a much sadder place.
Me: Jerome, how dare you saying something so sweet when Iâm dissociating.
Me: Honestly, (thing that is totally fucked up for any âsaneâ person) is normal, right?
Therapist: No.
Me: Wow.
Therapist: Youâre just a fucked up bitch.
Me: I do agree with the fucked up bitch part.
Therapist: Thatâs a start!
Me: I guess heâs still my friend?
Therapist: Considering what you told me and how much you wanna beat him to death, heâs not. You pretty much hate him despite knowing him for years.
Me:
Me: Why did I need to come here to realize that.
Therapist: Because thatâs my job to help you to understand some stuff. Also because youâre way too kind and you would let someone punch you in the guts and still consider them as your friend while they stab you.
Me: I donât need that kind of call out, Jerome.
Me: Hey, I brought you coffee. And croissants too, but I ate them. *puts Starbucks coffee in front of him*
Therapist: Oh thatâs nice!!... Oh my name is on it!!
Me: Yeah!!
Therapist: Itâs wholesome but... *very confused and silently*... How do I drink it?
Me, not being able to come to my appointment and having to call him: Iâm sorry, itâs all my fault, Iâm so so so sorr-
Therapist: I dare you to say sorry one more time. I dare you.
Therapist: Hey I wanna show you this super funny image I found the other day.
Me: What-
Therapist: *turns his screen and show me THIS*Â
Me:Â
Me: Jerome.
Therapist: You went to the gaypride?
Me: Yeah, I went.
Therapist: Was it something you enjoyed?
Me: Mh. Yeah. Sorta.
Therapist: Did you see some bears?
Me:
Me: Jerome wh-
Therapist: Thatâs the only term I know outside of the LGTB one, I wanted to use it.Â
Therapist: Are you sure youâre not becoming roommate with (name) because of pity? Kinda sacrificing yourself?
Me: No, I want it!!
Therapist: Finally, youâre not forcing yourself for the others! And youâre doing something you want! Iâm proud of you!
Me: Youâre more of a dad than my own father.
Therapist: Thatâs not very hard.
Me: I always wondered, are you queer?
Therapist: I am not.
Me: Ooh.
Therapist: Or am I?
Me: Ooh!
As an update, Jerome gave my appointment to someoneâs else today so we were both in the waiting room, confused and he walked in, patted my head and said sorry but honestly it was hilarious.
The secretary came to tell me that Jerome actually forgot to write me down on the appointment list.
This is a 100% normal situation with Jerome as my Therapist.
As an addition, more than half of my friends want Jerome to adopt me and refer to him as âTherapist dadâ.
Heâs aware of it and think itâs hilarious.
Me, after complaining for the 25 times about my birth father: Idk if you noticed, but Iâm full of anger against him.
Therapist: Oh, really, I never noticed. You know, you should turn that anger into indifference. It would help you.
Me: Unholy gods, I wish it was me.
Therapist: You know, people will still love you even if you donât offer them things all the time. You donât have to do that.
Me: What??
Therapist: Why donât you send a mail to your psychiatrist when you have a bad mood swing?
Me: Like what? âHey JoĂŤl wassup, Iâve been very suicidal lately last night I wanted to die. Hope you have rad vacations and the weed is good save some good kush for me, kissy kissy.â ?
Therapist: Exactly.
Me: Youâre as bad as me with human interactions Jerome, yâknow.
Me, heavily dissociating: I donât exist-
Therapist: Can I touch you to prove you that you do?
Me: Dinner first.
Therapist:
Therapist: Damien, you moron.
Therapist: You need vacations.
Me: Iâm broke.
Therapist: Oh yeah.
Therapist: You still need vacations tho.
Me: Jerome, I am still broke.
Me, by text: Hey, you just walk by me!
Therapist, by text: Oh sorry. I didnât see you.
Therapist, by text: Wait. Were you at the tattoo shop?
Me, by text, totally at the tattoo shop: You have no proof.
For a bit of context here: Around two months ago I went to a friendâs who happened the live on the same street as Jerome, which I didnât know. He was really surprised to see me and came to check on me, asking me why I was here with a bit of concern on his voice. And this take place earlier this month:
Therapist: So your friend lives in the same street than I?
Me: Yes. Townâs short I guess.
Therapist: Were you really going to your friend...?
Me: Yes?? Why else would I be here?
Therapist: A lot of drug deals happen in this street and I see often teenagers and young adults coming and buy stuffs. I was a bit worried for you.
Me, at 2pm: Iâm sorry Iâm going to be late!
Therapist: Your appointment was this morning at 11:30am, Damien.
Me:
Me: What.
Jerome is still not aware of his fame and idk how to announce him.
Therapist; Whatâs up with you and wanting domestic rats.
Me: Iâm gonna get a rat and call him Jerome just to piss you off.
Therapist:
Therapist: How dare you.
Therapist: Weed doesnât do much on me and I must admit Iâm kinda disappointed.
Me:
Therapist: Do you smoke?
Me: Jerome.
On hard days I wonder how Jerome is doing
Heâs doing fine, last time he shown me his fav pic of a red panda which is this one
I FOUND IT I FOUND IT I FUCKING FOUND IT AAAAAAAH YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY THIS MADE ME FEEL
Itâs really amazing how happy people get when they find this post omg
Always reblog Jerome.
Is he now aware of his fame?
After months, he is, and he just told me âHaha, this is funny. Iâm happy itâs helping people!â
I think he doesnât realize that heâs known *worldwide*
I LOVE THIS POST!!!!!
#I CAN SEE THE STITCHINGS OKAY GODDAMN THIS ANIMATION IS GORGEOUS
#and then you have people only going about how ~hot~ he is
because fuck, you can see the lines under his eyes and even red on the edges of the whiteness of his eyes
and frost on the edgES OF HIS CLOTHING
but^
seriously, the amount of detail and animation in ROTG is just AMAZING, I felt like I could reach out and feel the fabric of their clothes, of Toothâs feathers and oh my god , these people are amazing.
Toothâs feathers have this purple sheen on the lower half of her body and itâs only apparent when her knees are bent or the angle is right
And Jack has kinda splotchy skin and scraggly canine teeth and salt and pepper eyebrows
AND TOOTH HAS FLAWLESSLY MANICURED NAILS
THIS MOVIE IS GORGEOUS
DONâT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE PARTICLE EFFECTS FOR ALL THE SAND
this is the kind of post Iâve been waiting for.
yes.
to everything.
Whatâs even more amazing is a bunch of nerds created that shit. I wish they got more praise for the amazing shit they do all the time.
I remember one of the guys showing me the sand tests .. he used to work for NASA.

FUCKING NASA EVERYBODY!!!Â
AND AS A SIDE NOTE, PETER RAMSEY (who directed Rise of the Guardians) ALSO DIRECTED SPIDER-VERSEÂ

Reminds me of this
Disney's writer wage-theft is far worse than reported
Back in November, we learned that Disney had pulled a breathtakingly criminal wage-theft manuever on one of science-fictionâs most beloved authors, Allan Dean Foster, an elderly cancer-patient caring for his sick wife.
https://pluralistic.net/2020/11/19/disneymustpay/#disneymustpay
Foster is the bestselling author of some of the most successful movie novelizations ever, from the first STAR WARS novel to ALIENS novels and more. Thanks to Disneyâs monopolistic buying spree of companies like Lucas and Fox, they now owned the movies and Fosterâs contract.
Hereâs where things get criminally weird. Disney argued that when they bought out Lucas, Fox, etc, they acquired their assets, but not their liabilities. In other words, theyâd acquired the right to sell Fosterâs work, but not the obligation to pay him when they did.
This is not how copyright contracts work, period. If it were, then any publisher with a runaway bestseller novel could incorporate a new company, sell its assets - but not its liabilities - to that company, and stiff the writer.
Both Fosterâs agent and the Science Fiction Writers of America tried to negotiate with Disney quietly on this, but they were stonewalled and insulted (Disney insisted that they wouldnât even *discuss* a deal without first getting nondisclosure agreements from Foster, another unheard-of tactic).
After failing to make progress with private negotiations, they went loudly public, launching the #DisneyMustPay campaign. The good news is, the campaign was successful, and Foster has been paid.
The bad news is that the campaign flushed out *many* writers who are also having their wages stolen by Disney. The company is stalling them, too - refusing to search its records or volunteer info unless the authors can name the specific instances in which theyâve been robbed.
In response, SFWA has joined forces with the Romance Writers of America, the Horror Writers of America, the National Writers Union, Sisters in Crime and the Authors Guild to form a coalition called Writers Must Be Paid.
https://www.writersmustbepaid.org/
They have a form where writers who suspect that Disney has stolen their wages can report it, anonymously:
https://airtable.com/shrE1hJbqMHsjP9Ll
Thereâs a reason for the anonymity: Disneyâs anticompetitive mergers (culminating with the destructive Fox merger) has created a monopoly with vast market-power to destroy creatorsâ livelihoods by excluding them for speaking out.
The coalition has five modest demands for Disney:
I. Honor contracts now held by Disney and its subsidiaries
II. Provide royalty payments and statements to all affected authors
III. Update their licensing page with an FAQ for writers about how to handle missing royalties
IV. Create a clear, easy-to-find contact person or point for affected authors.
V. Cooperate with author organizations who are providing support to authors and agents.
More broadly, I hope this brings more creative workers into the discussion about competition.
Specifically, âmonopsony,â the excessive buying power that happens when a companies dominate access to a market, which allows them to squeeze their suppliers, especially workers.
Pick a bottle any bottle lol
I recently read an article about a therapy group for depressed people who had all attempted suicide at some point. The breakthrough question for them was, âIf your goal was to be just as miserable as possible, what would you do?â Most of them listed things like not getting enough sleep, or isolating themselves from everyone⌠the list goes on, but the point is, they listed things they already do. But now they saw those âcoping mechanismsâ for what they really were: things that were actively making their condition worse.
I read that article at 2:00 AM, asked myself, am I TRYING to be miserable tomorrow? And it was easier than usual to put my phone down and fall asleep. Even my intrusive âlying downâ thoughts about meaninglessness and existential dread were easier to suppress when I framed them as things Iâd think about to purposefully make myself feel as awful as possible.
Fuck that is helpful
that sounds like a cognitive behavioral therapy technique! CBT can be extremely helpful, especially if youâve been depressed for so long itâs almost like itâs become a facet of your personality. a very helpful thing my psychologist told me was to schedule some time every day to just think all the terrible thoughts i want about myself for half an hour. then the alarm goes off, and i have to stop. if anything like that creeps into my mind at any other time, i have to shut it down with âi can only think about that during my scheduled self-loathing time.â after a while, iâve devoted less and less time to negative self-talk and my scheduled self-hatred appointments have gotten shorter and shorter. it takes some practice, but itâs been so beneficial for me. the same tactic can be applied to insomnia caused by intrusive/racing thoughts. iâve had insomnia since i was a little kid, and when iâm not under an extreme amount of stress iâm out like a light now.
Instead of making up shitty racist headcanons about Miles shoplifting join me in headcanoning him picking up ballet because he thought Gwen being a ballerina was super neat and it would help him in his spiderman job
Spider strength he canât control + Lifts = Hilarity
Miles, muttering to himself: do not yeet the ballerina. do NOT yeet the ballerina
Jumps. JUMPS.
Miles frantically googling âHow high can normal people jump??? How high can ballerinas jump?????? I donât think Iâm supposed to be able to jump straight up to the ceiling and also I keep getting stuck up there please helpâ
Once Mileâs spider sense pinged lightly about a balcony set and he told the crew master he had a bad feeling about it. The balcony collapsed later. No one was hurt, but now Miles has to go over sets and pronounce them clear of âbad feelingsâ
Heâs not even good enough to be in shows yet, but nothing goes out without his seal of approval
honestly I have known so many stage managers and props department people who are Exactly This Superstitious. (And hell, in this case theyâre not even wrong he literally has magic danger powers)
Iâve also known a few dancers, and without exception the reaction to finding out this boy can effortlessly hold them in a single arm lift or YEET them dozens of feet in the air (And catch them after!) would be PURE GLEE.
âOkay, Glynda, look, we all know heâs Spiderman. Kidâs terrible at hiding it. But imagine this. None of us tell him we know and none of us tell him how high ballerinas can really throw their partners. And each class we just keep on pretending like weâre impressed with how fast heâs improving but, y'know, heâs still got further to go.â
âUhuh, yeah, I see that look in your eyes Glynda. You know exactly where Iâm going with this. How high do you think Spiderman can throw you?â
âOkay, Glynda, stop giggling, the giggling is creepy. Dessie, please make her stop giggling.â
This is wonderful
One day, in the middle of ballet class, there was a robbery going on a block away, so of course Milesâ gotta rush over there to help out. He grabs his mask, but doesnât have time to put on his whole suit because he said he was going to the bathroom and itâs be weird if he was gone for so long.
Cue Spider-Man kicking ass in pink ballet shoes and leggings.
This actually increased his popularity severely, and lots of people suddenly gained the interest in ballet; boys too, because if someone as cool as Spider-Man does it, everyone can do it.
When heâs back the instructors donât comment on the rip in his shirt, the dirt on his shoes, or the smear of paint on his leggings. They make sure to treat the class afterwards. After all, itâs not every day that Spider-Man stops a bunch of bankrobbers and manages to do a high pirouette without crashing through the ceiling this time!
This keeps getting better!
Someone: *Attempts to comment on how weird it is that Miles can throw Glenda high enough she can touch the roof with her palm*
The Stage Manager:
Ballet companies starting rumours that Spiderman doesnât actually has super powers, heâs just classically trained
You too could scale buildings if you would just practice regularly and focus on your core
OMG I LOVE THIS!
I know a couple of dancers I need to share this with.
Introducing Kit Connor and Joe Locke as Heartstopper's Nick and Charlie!!!! đđđ
I am so SO hyped to show you this photo of them in costume on set. Finding our Nick and Charlie was no easy task and I was VERY nervous about the search. These characters have been with me since 2012 (over a third of my life!!), and many of you since 2014 - theyâre deeply important to me, and I know they are to many of you too. I knew that we had to find the perfect teen actors to play them or the show would fall apart. But we found them!! We really really did!! Kit and Joe are just amazing, literally so talented and sweet and funny and utterly Nick and Charlie in so many ways, and it has been so much fun getting to know them and welcoming them into the Heartstopper universe. I feel very lucky that theyâre playing these characters who are so precious to me and many of you, and I hope you fall in love with them as Nick and Charlie as much as I have done!! Please join me in showing them some love and support today!
I know many of you are eager to see who is playing the rest of the Heartstopper gang, so stay tuned for more cast reveals VERY soon⌠đŹ

Please fucking lie to your employer. Like they donât need to know your mental health issues or what drugs you do. Ffs
its not lying if its to employers or cops
and look up ur rights on what they can and cannot ask u many places ban asking about ur record and transportation status and things like that resources will also tell u how they reword sketchy questions so ur prepared
Hey. Take it from a former HR person⌠this goes double right now. I just spent some time putting in some job applications myself (not for HR, lol) and got about 15 interviews. And idk if itâs because of COVID uncertainty or if places just donât fucking care anymore because they know people are desperate for work, but the amount of straight up illegal shit my interviewers asked me was appalling. (Thatâs not even counting the questions that were technically legal but clearly fishing for information theyâre not legally allowed to ask.)
A tame example? Two questions into a phone interview, the guy on the other end of the line asked: âHow old are you?â I said âExcuse me?â - giving him a chance to rethink that. He didnât. âHow old are you?â âSir, you are not allowed to ask me that question.â âWell, I want to know. Iâm asking.â âAnd youâre legally not allowed to ask me that. Iâm not required to tell you my age.â At that point, I guess he managed to remember an old HR bulletin or something (I hope to god he wasnât actually HR himself), and he said, âWell, I need to know if youâre over the age of 18.â (Which is what he should have asked in the first place⌠or not, since that was in the application that he could have read.) âYes. Iâm over the age of 18.â And we moved on. Two questions later, he tried another illegal question. I called him on it again and ended the interview, citing that a workplace with such a clear disregard for the law, especially upon first contact with a potential employee, was not going to be a good fit. (They offered me the job anyway, lol. I didnât send a thank-you or a response.)
At a different interview, the majority of questions were âfishingâ questions - just looking for that info theyâre not actually allowed to ask. (This person was also either not really HR or an HR person who was exceptionally bad at their job.)
I could tell they were getting frustrated when I dodged answering the personal stuff, and they actually got extremely upset when I mentioned later in the interview (re: less relevant work experience) I had worked in HR. They were super flustered for the remainder of our time, and I watched them skip over questions on their sheet they had clearly planned on asking. They KNEW they were being sketchy and were counting on me not knowing anything about HR - or my rights - and so they got upset when I did. These were super tame examples. Iâm begging you, if youâre job searching right now, PLEASE know your rights. Please know what interviewers are allowed to ask. Please donât volunteer information or elaborate more than youâre required to about personal things. Save your words (and everyoneâs time) by elaborating why youâre good for the position/what you can do. I may create a resource list on this shit later but PLEASE PLEASE KNOW THIS STUFF BEFORE YOU TALK TO AN EMPLOYER. This goes for anywhere youâre interviewing as well as your current employer. This also goes for HR. HR may be the person you go to when shitty stuff happens, but that doesnât mean theyâre your friend (or competent). They donât need to know your age (beyond 16+, 18+, or 21+, depending on the job). They donât need to know your medical history. (For the love of god, do NOT answer the âhave you been diagnosed with depression?â question.) They donât need to know if you have kids or whatever. They donât need to know a LOT of those things that may appear on an application, including your veteran status, whether youâre on/have been on unemployment, etc. Theyâre not entitled to know specifics about your transportation (unless youâre using that transportation for the job, like Uber/delivery drivers). Look this up for your state/the jobâs state. Beware questions like âWhat year did you graduate?â if youâre like me and donât put dates on your resume (I just put amount of time spent at employers, not dates of employment). Theyâre fishing for your age. Itâs âOh, you know, 100 years ago,â if you feel comfortable making a joke, or âAbout [generic number, like 5 or 10] years agoâ if not. Also beware things like the âWhat do you do in your free time?â question, even if you already work there. This is not a friendly getting-to-know-you question. This is a basis for judgement. Not up to an invisible standard? Theyâre going to be biased against you for pay raises, promotions, etc. Mention kids/lots of family/social engagements? Thatâs a tick against you for not being the kind of person who lives to work (yes, itâs gross and stupid). Mention lots of solitary things? Cool, thatâs their mental note to ask more from you because youâre ânot doing anything anyway.â By all means, be friendly with your coworkers/talk about shared interests if you want, but it is none of your bossâs business, and be aware what could get back to them. Donât. Tell. Employers. Shit.
this is why demanding flawless representation from every piece of media, and trying to police who writes what based on identity is a huge fucking mess
source
The publisher is now threatening to sue her btw,
Checked on this, the company issued a formal apology where they admitted they assumed the author was straight because she âpresented herself as straightâ
She literally told them she was bisexual in the query she submitted
I know, thatâs what makes this even worse.
That publishing company is such bullshit lmaooo
Their âapologyâ is even more disgusting. They double down on the biphobia.
âNo other authors will receive any constructive feedback from usâ lmao what a baby
âWe put you gays and lesbians on the purity pedestal and, when you really think about it, this âbisexualâ (Whatever that means) is really to blame for making us realize you people fuck.Thatâs why we were wrong.â
âShe isnât posting pics of herself making out with every person of every gender on Instagram, so she is obviously just a straight looking for attention :/â
This song has been old for a while and it keeps getting older.
That wasnât constructive feedback in the first place. âYouâre not gay enough to write this storyâ and âitâs obvious you donât know what youâre doingâ are not constructive criticisms; they say nothing about what, specifically, was done poorly nor how it could be improved, which is the ENTIRE GODDAMN POINT of constructive criticism.
Fuck them and the moral high horse they rode in on.
