King Sphinx ☥
Simon Thurston’s early career was merely that of a humble professor and archaeologist. Given his mother’s Egyptian background, he focused his studies on ancient Egyptian culture, spending much of his tenure in the region studying its history and mythology. But what he thought to be mythology became his reality, when he stumbled upon a mystical crimson gem’d ankh that bonded with him and transformed him into King Sphinx.
As King Sphinx he had access to a wide range of mystical powers that granted him strength, durability, clarity of mind, and more. His ankh was now a part of him that he could summon from anywhere to his location, where it would fly to his chest, form his golden arcane armor, and sprout his dark red cape that could turn into wings. Sphinx would become a superhero, fighting threats all across northern Africa and the Middle East for several years, until eventually making his way to the United States and allying himself with Athena Powers to fight a common enemy.
Sphinx would find himself facing threat after threat in the US, and eventually wind up joining forces with King Lizard and Alpha King to form the legendary Three Kings, highly regarded by many as one of the best superhero teams in Halcyon City even to this day.
King Lizard 🦖
As a revolutionary genetic science experiment designed in a lab, Project: Rex was built to be a hybrid super weapon, but deep down he yearned to be more. Created from a hybrid of theropod genetics, Rex was savvy, tactical, resilient, and loyal. When he was deployed to take down Alpha King, the two clashed as powerful foes. But in the midst of their conflict, Alpha King realized that Rex was actually a victim at the whims of his nefarious creators. After some convincing from Alpha King, Rex broke free from his masters’ control, and the two of them took down the laboratory that built him.
Afterwards, Rex became great friends with Alpha King, who designated the new title of King Lizard, recognizing his strong desire to do good. The duo would team up often, eventually joining forces with King Sphinx, and forming the legendary trio of the Three Kings. FOr several years they fought as a close-knit team to defend Halcyon City, the country, and even the world. But one day, during their greatest battle ever, King Lizard would betray his found family in an act that would break the Three Kings apart forever. And to this day, no one knows why.
Alpha King 👑
The one, the only, Alpha King. Arriving first on the scene all the way back in 2000, Alpha King revealed himself to the public by single-handedly saving a plane and all of its passengers from crashing. His status quickly skyrocketed as he made high profile saves left and right, working his way into the hearts and minds of millions. In almost no time he garnered a reputation as one of the best heroes to ever live, even nicknamed the king of alphas, eventually leading to his title of Alpha King.
Very little about Alpha King’s history is known, even to himself. When he arrived, he had no memory of his past, just a strong desire to do good. As a result, much of his image and identity were donated to him. Having gotten his name from the people, his official hero status from the president, and his emblem from the classic hero Mr. Liberty, Alpha King stands out as one of the few alphas in history to be adopted as a true American hero by the US.
Eventually, he formed a trio with two other greats, King Sphinx and King Lizard, spending years together as the Three Kings. But things would change when a cataclysmic rift opened above Halcyon City in 2018, and released a dangerous Entity. In the ensuing battle, the Entity was destroyed, King Lizard betrayed his friends, and Alpha King used his ability to absorb the rift’s cosmic energy to close it for good from the other side. In the wake of his sacrifice, Alpha King Academy was established in a hope to keep his memory alive through the next generations of heroes.
