In a Mysore style Yoga class, you will gradually learn the Ashtanga Yoga sequence of action and breath, until it becomes a second nature. Moreover, you will learn how to adapt the sequence to your own body, energy level and rhythm of breath, because all instructions are tailored to your individual experience level, body type and study pace. This will allow you to challenge your practice, strengthen your body and sharpen your concentration.
For this self-guided class, you will need experience with the Ashtanga Yoga Primary series, so you won't get lost without instructions. And be sure you’re able to handle a Vinyasa Yoga 2 - Intense Flow or regular Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga class. If you only have experience with other types of non-flow yoga, please discuss this with the teacher. Enjoy your practice!
Ashtanga Yoga, or the ‘modern form of classical yoga’ was developed in the Indian city Mysore by K. Pattabhi Jois. The Mysore Style yoga class is how he used to teach Ashtanga yoga, back in the day: students practice at their own pace and get one-on-one instructions from the teacher.
