Guys stop putting "empathy/sympathy." They are not the same thing. Empathy is not "I care about this person," that's what sympathy is. Empathy is "I can understand this person's situation, see myself in their shoes, and experience their emotions as my own."
Empathy ≠ sympathy. They frequently co-exist but they are DIFFERENT.
Not having empathy doesn't mean I don't care about people, it means I can't understand their emotions or correctly imagine myself in their situation.
I can still care without grasping it.

The fact that Vox is so NPD coded, but everyone immediately assigned him BPD instead, because they saw him "obsessing" over Alastor, and we all know how much BPD is just associated with "unhealthy obsession" and other "romantic" aspects, while NPD is "unacceptable and evil and our favorite character would never!"
While PDs in one cluster can be similar, it is the core that can differ them. And the core of Vox is that he needs positive attention. He needs to feel better than and above others, he needs praise and admiration and control. He is generally composed and professional, he knows how to twist the news in his favor in order to look like he's in the right.
It is just Alastor, his chosen person, that makes him lose his cool. Because Vox opened up to him, he trusted him, let his guard down around him and expressed genuine admiration (which is an extremely vulnerable thing for pwNPD). And then... Alastor just laughs in his face, steps on his heart, tears his trust apart? The narcissistic crash and the narcissistic rage is nothing you can imagine after that.
Vox is not in a good environment. He is not in therapy or surrounded by emotionally available people. Of course he doesn't move on. He makes it his goal, his dream to make Alastor pay for humiliating him, and the fact that Vox has a high status in Pride Ring just feeds into the dream. His chosen person rejected him and now he needs to show Alastor that he is smarter, he is stronger, he is better. Make Alastor feel the same humiliation and despair he felt... im tired of staying silent im posting my npd tenna manifesto. just like. gestures. constant need for attention and approval. easily frustrated by people Below Him (so like. his employees. spamton) and always chasing the validation of people Above Him (mike, the lightners). literally shrinks and grows in response to the kinds of attention he's getting he gets so small and tiny and pathetic when he feels unwanted :( guys :(. as people have pointed out he can be manipulative but like. is exceedingly bad at it. quick to anger but also very easily placated by positive attention. Possible Low Empathy (local man completely bungles it by mentioning asriel or dess, does not seem to realize that hm maybe dont do that that might upset kris.) puts up a front of being this super awesome cool funnyman who's soooo normal and fine and then is an insecure wreck underneath. literally makes you affirm that you love him and he's sooooo cool as his main battle mechanic (the humble narc supply).
in conclusion
It's so braindead to me that the online community dedicated to "narcissist abuse" excludes actual narcissists from participating.
...They do know that NPD is a genetic condition, and most narcissists were also raised by other narcissists and likely received similar abuse? And that Narcissism can also pop up as a response to said abuse?
