i think that somewhere along the way ppl forgot that the split attraction model was first designed as a way to self describe your own identity and gain community and reverted back into being a tool used to invalidate the communities using it most, the asexual and aromantic communities
the SAM is smth that is viewed as a central part of the aspec experience, that everyone has to be this and this
the alloromantic aces that are basically just gay/lesbian/bi/pan etc and their asexual identity is pretty much forgoten until it is considered a hindrance
the allosexual aros that are evil sex pests and and whores, bc fuck being against slut shaming ig
and the acearos, mostly isolated and treated like little kids who can't sit at the grown ups' table bc they are not "mature enough", even when many are literally in their 30s and older
no other identity is viewed as having to be split. if u say that a character or a person is gay, u understand a homoromantic homosexual. but when u say that a person or character is asexual the first thing ppl say is "yeah but are they aromantic? they are surely not aromantic". imagine if a creator came out saying a character is gay and ppl would say " yeah but are they homoromantic? i don't think so, they are surely heteroromantic". that would be fucking homophobic, and it is, so why is it different for aspecs?
ppl also say stuff like "lets just say they are homoromantic asexual, perfect middle ground, everyone wins", which is just fucking insulting and shows just how much u really respect us
the problem about what i just explained is not alloro aces or their representation. they are usually not the ones saying stuff like that. it's just that ppl have an aversion towards acearos and alloaros, bc their identities can't be ignored as easily. someone or something being acearo is the worst thing to be bc then they feel bad about sexualizing them, or that representation is wasted on our community
also also
the SAM is wasted on these ppl's bigotry against us. this system can be used for any and all types of attraction and i've seen ppl using it to it's fullest in therapeutic ways. using it to descipher what kind and how much of certain types of relationships and activities associated they are comfortable with, and why
at the same time, and i think that more ppl should learn this, not everyone uses SAM. there are ppl who are just asexual, or just aromantic, no other modifier needed
so next time u see a person or character described as asexual and think "i wonder what their romantic identity is?" also wonder why is it so hard for u to see asexual and aromantic as full, complete identities all on their own
