I actually do not consider romance love at all. To me, it's a completely separate thing. Love is the bond formed between individuals. Its the force that causes two people to come back to eachover. Its a feeling of safety and fulfillment. Romance is different it can involve love but its not love. Love can come in many forms and changes definition from person to person but its still love.
I feel completely disconnected from society's definition of love. This idea that the most fulfilling thing in the world is the love of a romantic partner is bullshit.
This idea that you can only fall in love romantically is so stupid because I fall in love with my friends everyday, every time the say smth stupid I fall in love, everytime they hug me and everytime they make me feel seen and their kindness fills me, they are the best thing in my life, I love them so much. They make me feel safe and protected.

hang on one more thing. every time i look up stuff about aromanticism. sexual attraction seems to be. not part of it. but like. you can have?? sex??? platonically??? its literally an activity. idk im deeply confused by it. i know sexual/romantic attraction is the model but dude i dont fit into it at all. @librarycards's mention of lovequeer seems closer but like. idk im deeply confused
re: your recent ask on being aro, I have a similar understaning of and relationship to aromanticism. voicing this perspective seems to not infrequently be interpreted as if I am saying that people do not face difficulties for not experiencing "romance" in the expected ways.
if it's something you're not already familiar with and may find useful, quoiromantic gets at the idea of "romantic" "attraction" not being a concept that is applicable to everyone (although that may not be the way it is most commonly used or understood, it is what the term was orginally created to describe).
I'm not suggesting that there's a "correct" way to describe yourself, and can see why, regardless of the original meaning, a term that follows the format of -romantic labels might not adequately communicate rejecting "romance" (and by extension, romantic attraction and romantic orientation) as a pre-discursive concept. just wanted to share that there are ways of conceptualising one's relationship with romance beyond aro & alloromantic, if it's something that would be useful to anyone.
and also wanted to add that the concept of romance is a western idea and is very culturally dependent. although the pressure to be in a monogamous committed relationship may be present in many cultures, this is often manifested through obligation of continuing the family name rather than from a belief of romance being a central experience.
I do identify as/with aromantic, for many of the reasons you do, as well as to reject the idea that my worth is dependent on whether I am romantically desired. sometimes it is hard to have discussions about this and to be vocal about not considering "being aromantic" something I inherently always have been, and I appreciate you sharing your perspective on it!
yes - i'm familiar with the concept and dated someone quoiromantic years ago. she was my intro to the term and i found a lot of resonance in it. generally, for me, the labels i share with others most are the ones i feel most efficiently communicate information between us that they need to know - for me, the term "lovequeer" tends to do this, as it identifies me as having a non-normative relationship w/ love and its strictures, but doesn't appear to preclude me from a relationship others might identify as 'romantic' (aromanticism doesn't necessarily need to do this either, but again, i'm talking about ease of communication)
i'm not sure i'd say "i'm aromantic" but i would certainly say that the relational and ideological orientation most aromantic (esp. politically aromantic) people take is one in close alignment with mine. if pressed i'd probably say that yes, i am on the arospectrum someplace, if only in the way that people who have sufficiently contended with the violent & manipulative lie of sexgender kinda always become some flavor of trans.

Sometimes being aromantic is super silly and it's like hehe I luv my stupid friends their so funny.
And then others times it's like I feel like I'm missing out on an important life experience and I'm going to left behind by all my friends bc I luv so differently to the way others luv. I luv my friends whole heartedly but us it enough to stop them from leaving me and prioritising romance.
But then it's like hehe I luv shipping wish romance was real lol.
Could you make lovequeer prompts? :0 (also happy pride month!!)
Happy pride to you as well ;)
When They’re Lovequeer
Calling their senseship partner their lover
Being able to say “I love you” without any partners getting the wrong idea
Yes, they were very much in love. Neck deep in alterous love
“Bold of you to assume I have one partner. It’s even bolder of you to assume it’s romantic.”
They just found out they were aroallo too and also looking for a partner. Would it be crazy to say they were already in love?
Ever since they started their exteramo relationship, they’ve never been happier. A nice “fuck you” to the person that said they needed romance to be happier
There was nothing like being in love while also being free from the implication that it could only be romantic
Creating art where they express their love for their partners
Of course they loved their friend. No they are not partners.
"Genuinely gonna start being annoyingly vocal about my relationships the same way allos are." "As you should."
They didn't really like that everyone assumed that when they said they loved someone, it meant it was romantic. The love they gave was not limited to any one category. Their love was meant for everyone they were willing to give it to in whatever form that felt right
Their love for each other couldn't easily be understood by the naked, uninformed eye. And they were okay with that. It only matters that they knew what their love meant to each other
There's nothing like aroallo4aroallo love. That was something they've happily accepted since they realized their orientation
Their love wasn't "normal" and they were proud to say that it wasn't. Normal was boring and meant to be defied. Being openly weird about it is the only correct way, if you ask them.
lovequeer aromantic who says they fall in love with their special interests <3
