(Oof. I started this so long ago that I forgot about it then when I found it I had to wait for inspiration. Sorry if it’s bad, enjoy!)
Scarlett walks into the Rowdy Raven in search of her red headed lover. Her attention is drawn to a corner table which has gained a small crowd. Perched atop a table is Julian and … someone else. The person was the same height as Julian and had their tanned arm slung around Julian's shoulders. Both had a cup of mead clutched loosely in their hands as they sway singing a sea shanty.
"Scarlett! Come 'ere, come 'ere I want you to meet Jae." Julian falls off the table quickly righting himself and sweeping Scarlett into his arms. Jae hops off the table catching themselves before he falls.
"Jae Romano at your service. Nice to meet ya Scarlett, Julian hasn't stopped talking about you." Jae bows with a smile, then tugs lightly on Julian's collar walking towards a booth. The three sit down and begin to talk, telling each other of their numerous adventures. At the mention of a certain city Julian’s eyes light up before he stands and begins to sing.
“You are my fire. The one desire. Believe when I say, I want it that way.” Julian jumps onto a nearby table as he sings, pulling Scarlett up with him when she tries to coax him off. He pulls her into his arms, pressing a kiss to her cheek. The usually loud patrons quiet to watch the show.
“But we are two worlds apart. Can’t reach to you heart, when you say That I want it that way.” Jae smiles, finishing off his drink and stands leaving the tavern. He inhales deeply and leans next to the door right as the the next verse is sung loudly by every patron that knows it.
“Tell me why! Ain’t nothing but a heartache. Tell me why! Ain’t nothing but a mistake. I never wanna hear you say I want it that way.” Julian spins Scarlett with a laugh.
“Am I your fire? Your one desire? Yes, I know it’s too late but I want it that way.” Julian’s eyes widened when Scarlett began to sing before his face split with a large smile.
“ Tell me why! Ain't nothin' but a heartache. Tell me why! Ain't nothin' but a mistake. Tell me why! I never wanna hear you say. I want it that way.” Jae opens his eyes when he feels someone looking at him.
“Hey Muriel. Wanna listen with me?” The taller man moves to stand next to him as he closes his eyes, listening to the singing tavern.
“ Now I can see that we've fallen apart, from the way that it used to be. No matter the distance I want you to know, that deep down inside of me!” Muriel lets his eyes drift closed before jumping slightly when Jae’s fingers intertwine with his.
“Sorry.” Muriel squeezes his hand before relaxing again.
“ You are my fire. The one desire. You are.” The crowd softly repeats the last line as they dance with friends and lovers.
“ Don't wanna hear you say! Ain't nothin' but a heartache! Ain't nothin' but a mistake! (don't wanna hear you say) I never wanna hear you say (oh, yeah) I want it that way!” Julian and Scarlett continued to dance, jumping from table to table. Jae pulls away from the wall and guides Muriel away from the Rowdy Raven.
“ Tell me why. Ain't nothin' but a heartache. Tell me why. Ain't nothing but a mistake. Tell me why. I never want to hear you say (never wanna hear you say). I want it that way.”
