Gothic Charm School: pretty things

I love that Bryan Fuller wrote this part for Mads and said, 'I have tortured this man enough. No more three-piece suits; I will give him all the athleisure wear and stunt scenes he deserves, but I will serve them up to him á la Fuller, whimsical and demented and embellishments galore!'

The whole movie is like that, a perfect fit for these two but also something new. At the Q&A Bryan cited Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro's The City of Lost Children as a reference point and that is so on the money for Dust Bunny. It's a dark fairy tale, starry-eyed enough that even kids can see it provided said kids don't flinch at the idea of assisting hit man Mads Mikkelsen as he carves up a dead body in a bathtub and stuffs it into adorable panda-themed luggage. Sigourney Weaver shows up and almost steals the movie out from everybody; mother is EATING. Like any Fuller joint, the aesthetic is off-the-rails, like if somebody took the sets from Amélie and made a wuxia movie with them. So many fun split diopter shots and nods to classic horror, wackadoodle fight choreography that often involves Mads barefoot climbing walls, and a delightfully designed monster with actual tactility on screen.

We are freaks living in harmony and while your previous fandoms might have forgotten fandom etiquette, we do not want all of your drama and white knight of morality bs that is so normalised in many other spaces. Don’t like something? Then don’t interact with it. The block button is free.

With this said, you guys are just as free to post anything you like. You won’t get attacked for fringe ideas, unique characterisations or unpopular kinks. Everything goes, you are a freak like us and part of the family. Most people find this fandom to be tasteless, so let’s stick together. No use attacking each other for minor things just for the sake of it.
