Despite not knowing much about the Fallen Heroes AU, I've still developed HEADCANONS for it.
FH!Rei, slaughters her children from Canon/other AU's because both her grief and physic makes her believe it's a hallucination, came to torment her. Also, a not-so nice amount of envy.
FH!Enji, when he is close enough to his wife. has a habit of touching Rei / one part of him is always touching her, to reassure Rei, that he is not a hallucination and that he is here. this headcanon developed from that one animatic, where Rei accuse him of running away.
Due to Enji beating himself up over not being their to save his children from being murder, and because of Rei's mental health.
The both of them wait for the other to wake up, before doing anything. Cause I believe that the both of them reacts differently, if they end up waking up alone.
1. Enji, the one who is more affected than the latter. wakes up alone, without Rei by his side—immediately starts panicking, and he immediately thinks she was taken and killed. and then starts hunting for Rei until he finds her, only after then, would he calm down.
2. Rei, when she wakes alone with out Enji by her side. Will believe Enji has finely left her, so, she'll start crying uncontrollably, eventually ending her thrashing the place they were living in—OR—just skip straight to the thrashing.
2 is actually what Rei does to ground herself, she latches onto Enji and he lets her do whatever she wants. Since he's not all there neither, he can't always tell when Rei is having issues
3 so, yes, but also no, if one of them wakes up, they wake up the other immediately. Where they differ is when they can’t fall asleep. Enji will just lay there having bad thoughts and being bitter at Rei for sleeping, while keeping an eye on Miaki. Rei, if she can't sleep, will typically force Enji awake because she doesn't want to be alone. Even if he's napping/passes out during the day from overusing his Quirk, she'll get impatient.
