Lets be entirely clear. Biden and Kamala arenât âimperfect candidatesâ. It isnât like they simply disagree with decent people on minor issues. They are corporate goons who are every bit as bad as Trump. They will push nearly exactly the same policies and perpetuate the same systems.
The Democrats and Republicans are two wings of one party. The capitalist party. The lack of real difference between Trump and Biden has rendered your vote useless. That is precisely the point of the game here.
No, Biden is a neoliberal conservative capitalist. Heâs not a reactionary ultranationalist. Not everything you donât like is synonymous with fascism. That word has a distinct meaning, and everything to the right of universal single payer healthcare and defunding the police (both positions Iâm with you on) is the same.
Is Biden a solution to any problem weâre facing?
Absolutely not.
Is he less aggressively dangerous than Trump thus giving us more of a chance to make the change we need through continued mobilization and direct action?
Yes
Not voting for the lesser evil because itâs still evil is fundamentally a selfish act of valuing your own moral purity over comparable harm reduction
Biden does not have Obamaâs cult of personality, there is no reason the D next to his name should stemie activism anymore than the one next to LBJâs did. MLK still accurately assessed that Goldwater was the more dangerous candidate and supported LBJ, and then protested his policies after. Voting is not a moral endorsement, itâs a chess move.

States are banning abortion which will affect millions of poor women and women of color and SCOTUS night overturn Roe v Wade
Hate crimes against Jews and people of color and LGBT people are going up
There are Nazis in the White House and marching in the streets
And Trump has given tax cuts to billionaires and appointed judges that will take away your constitutional rights
Are you happy with your choice to vote third party? To stay home? Was it worth it? Was all of this worth it?
Weâre facing the same choice again. We canât have four more years of this.
Fight like hell for your candidate in the primaries. Then if and when they lose, get in line behind the winner.

I knew people would die but I never imagined that Trump would be responsible for this many deaths and the worst economic disaster in a century
We have to vote for Biden. I donât like Biden. I wanted someone progressive. Someone who didnât sexually assault someone. But this is literally life and death.
(also Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 87 years old and has been hospitalized multiple times in the last year and we cannot allow Trump to appoint her replacement on the Supreme Court or continue giving lifetime appointments to judges to lower Federal courts)
The truly scary thing is, when I was reading the start of the post, I thought it was from this year. It was from 2016. And it has proven prescient. Trump has killed over a hundred thousand Americans thanks to his reaction to COVID-19 alone. He has put armed federal agents on the streets to kidnap citizens. He is acting increasingly like the fascist that we were worried he was.
Do not âvote your conscienceâ and donât refuse to vote because youâre worried that Biden/Harris will be bad. Because we know Trump is evil and is destroying this nation. Pretending Biden/Harris is the âlesser evilâ and thus youâre still voting for âevilâ by voting for him is a Trump line used for voter suppression.Â
If you do not vote for Biden and Harris? You are voting for Trump and you approve of his policies. There is no if, there is no and, there is no but. You are supporting Trumpâs fascist policies that have killed over a hundred thousand people in just a few months.

â â If you vote in person, bring your ID and your completed sample ballot to speed up the process
â â If you vote in person, request to vote with a ball point pen, ie, a #HandMarkedPaperBallot
â â If you must use a touchscreen, compare the human readable text on the paper printout (if any) to your completed sample ballot to ensure the machine didnât drop or flip your votes as reflected in the text.
â â VOTE in down ballot races since state lawmakers will vote in 2021 on the new maps that will impact control of the US House of Representatives.
â â Confirm your voter registration several times between now and the election. Save a screenshot of the registration confirmation as proof.
â â If you have questions or encounter problems voting, contact the voters protection hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE. SAVE THIS NUMBER IN YOUR PHONES TODAY!

i dont know how to explain to people that because they didnât vote for Democrats to control the Senate, Democrats dont control the Senate. And therefore they dont get to do the things the Senate does, like pass stimulus bills and remove postmasters general. And a lot of those people are saying âhow dare Democrats try to compromise with Republicans instead of just forcing their agendaâ and the answer isâŚyou put the Republicans in charge. And then those people say, âwell surely there has to be a way to stop the gutting of the USPS and the eviction of millions of people, why cant democrats just tell us what to do?â And the answer is, you needed to vote in 2016, the election we all said at the time was the most important election in history. I need you all to prepare yourselves to vote for Biden in November. Â
Iâm not happy about it either. I wanted Elizabeth Warren to destroy Trump on the debate floor. I wanted to watch her shatter the glass ceiling. I wanted student loan forgiveness, Medicare for All, and refugee and immigrant protections.
But Iâm not going to get that. So I am going all in for Biden.
This can no longer be a matter of âwell if I donât get my way THEN IâM NOT VOTINGâ. Iâd hoped you all learned your lessons four years ago, but from what Iâve seen on social media, thatâs not been the case. Biden is not ideal but he is better than the alternative. He is a Democrat who will continue Obamaâs legacy. And you have a shot in hell of getting progressive movements like Medicare for All under a blue majority Congress; we do not have that under Trump. Â
Biden is more willing to listen to the progressive factions of the Democrat party than Trump is. We will get shit done under him.  Â
We cannot survive a second term of Trump. I need you all to hold your noses, put on your big girl pants, and deal with it. Prepare to vote for Biden.
Also, Iâve reviewed most of his plans and they are good. No, they are not as good as Warrenâs plans. But he commits to LGBTQ+ protections, repealing the transgender in the military ban, and his refugee/immigration protections are way better than I expected (he actually has some culpability to the deportations under the Obama administration).
He is a good choice, guys. Maybe not the best. But he will get us to where we need to be and is a fucking return to SANITY in the government, which we badly fucking need.
Two, TWO Supreme Court justices are on the table for the next president, plus all the other federal judges McConnell has been stacking benches with the past three years. Thatâs Roe v. Wade, and a whole lot else, for the foreseeable future.Â
The reality is that we live in a two party system and while I do not want Biden, I am capable of recognizing nuance and shades of gray. If it comes down to Biden, as it very likely may he will not do as much damage as four more years of Trump, and that is an ethical imperative.Â
This is also why we all MUST vote down-ticket as well.Â
Not voting isnât a protest. Itâs a surrender. If we want change, real change, then we have to drag our country to the left. One. Election. At. A time. Itâs not an all-or-nothing scenario. So if it comes down to it, vote for Biden. Get on the bus headed away from fascism and the alt-right. If that bus isnât heading directly to where we want to go, then we ride it until we have a chance to get on a different bus. Not voting is NOT an option.
