I love how Kakeyo Hitman Reborn was not the best written manga, and in fact many people didn't like the ending, but it brings so much comfort to me.
Most mangas like khr are so filled with suffering, that I'm constantly asking for more shitpost content. I want to see my favorite characters playing stupid games, going to school, eating together, being best friends, being a family.
And that's exactly what khr gives me.
Even the fights are all about them being family. Every battle is about the sense of family, about trust and loyalty, and different types of suffering and misunderstandings and Tsuna (the main character), he's constantly trying to solve things without violence.
Another thing I loved was the ending.
Many mangas has this type of ending of "there's no going back, nothing will ever be the same", but khr doesn't have that. You know everyone has changed, you know they don't see things the way they used to, but they are still teenagers and they are still very dumb, very alive, full of things to learn. I love how in the end they still have room to keep improving, you know they won't suddenly drop school, or stop being who they are. At heart, they are still the same kids that they used to be, just more mature now.
Besides khr is just simply fun to be around. The beginning of the manga is slow and it's practically just shitpost, but it's so important because you get to enjoy all the relationships, you get to see them having fun and doing comic stuff and being happy. So when the other arcs come, you understand why they all are so worried about defending the life they have.
Idk, I think khr is special and a great manga in its own way, and I will forever be grateful for it. All the group of characters are found families, almost all villains end up as weird allies, you have time traveling and immortal babies that are actually lethal and magic and mafia and competitions and it's just batshit crazy, but in the best kind of way.
Katekyo Hitman Reborn will always be my favorite manga, being honest.

What to do if you suddenly find yourself homeless
FOOD
Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit
SHELTER
Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
Some churches offer short term residence
Find your nearest homeless shelter
Look for places that are open to the public
A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry
HYGIENE
A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.
Public libraries have bathrooms you can use
Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.
Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver
Local beaches, go for a quick swim
Some truck stops have showers you can pay for
Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet
Pack 7 pairs of socks/undies, 2 outfits, and one hooded rain jacket
OTHER
first aid kit
sunscreen
a travel alarm clock or watch
mylar emergency blanket
a backpack is a must
downgrade your cellphone to a pay as you go with top-up cards
sleeping bag
travel kit of toothbrush, hair brush/comb, mirror
swiss army knife
can opener
Reblog to literally save a life
if there is a Dollar Tree near you, they have entire food aisles
Planet Fitness also has $10 memberships. you can shower and they have free food days! pizza night 1st monday every month, bagel tuesday the 2nd tuesday every month.
Save a life reblog
i am so glad that i renblogged this however so long ago. i saw this post and shared it with others in mind, but now i am the one who really needs this. id like to think of this as good karma i guess
also a good list if anyone ever needs to run away from home for whatever reason.
probably worth keeping around.
yes to downgrading your phone plan to a pay-as-you-go, including getting a different phone, but if you have a smartphone hang onto it. There are places with free wifi access that you can use without going inside, meaning you can have access to the internet throughout most urban areas, and it can be convenient to have bookmarks and contact info and the ability to text, which even in places with public computers like libraries you can’t have
Also, in regards to phones, there are programs that offer free phones and service if you receive things like food stamps and Medicaid. They might not be the nicest phones and at least the one I had didn’t have unlimited talk, but it’s something.
That ask from @emma-goose-sheep-tooth-fairy made me remember this post and I thought everyone here would like to have it too.

Meanwhile, At the Hall of Justice! Booster Gold sat at the reception desk of the Hall of Justice. He managed to annoy some of the higher level heroes in the field and was demoted to desk duty. But that embarrassing story is irrelevant, because Booster was currently staring slack jawed down at the stack of legal documents he was just handed. "Wait, wait, wait! You're SUING, the justice league!?" Booster demanded. The hero was looking back and forth between the stack of papers he was just served and the skinny younger man that just handed them over.
So attempt sans the AI bs below.
—
The league turned to Batman in silence as Boosters missive came in.
“Bats and his minis are getting sued for well. A lot of charges not too off from corrupt cops and organized crime… with encouragement of criminal behavior to minors and having them as accomplices added to Bats’ personal file.”
The attached document photos had interrupted the quarterly budget meeting.
“Is this even legal?” Plasticman murmured, sifting through the legal word salad before him.
The charges were correct on a technicality with cited instances aplenty—assault and battery, B&E, tampering with and theft if evidence in active cases, training minors to copy this criminal behavior as his accomplices and protégées. Through the kids, Batman operated a vigilante organization and by definition, vigilantes are still criminals under the law. Stalking and harassment of civilians for performing their job adequately with multiple social service workers confirmed and willing to testify, threatening and harassing witnesses on more counts and citations than Booster could count over fifteen pages, with the page of assault and battery against witnesses as a separate section. That excluded the B&Es tied to immediate assault and battery followed by theft of private physical and intellectual property, damage to said properties, and multiple counts of attempted murder in the second degree and a few cases in the first. The theft of personal physical property was separate from intellectual, though damages were noted as needed for linked cases.

Why doesn't the justice league know about Amity Park?
Okay so it's been a bit sonce I watched the show but one of the things in DpxDC is the anti-ecto acts, which I love, but correct me if I'm wrong, I THINK ??? they only show up in reality trip? SO: What if Danny, when using the gauntlet to undo everything, also got rid of the Anti-Ecto acts? but this is babys first time editing reality so he uh Fucks Up A Lil'. As a result when Danny used the reality gauntlet to wipe the AEA from existence he accidentally wiped Amity Park from perception. A big 'nothing matters over here' jedi mind trick, and now no ones looking at Amity. So, the Justice League actually WERE looking into and monitoring the situation in Amity, but when the perception filter closed them off, all of that suddenly went ignored.
This is noticed when someone (Alfred, Dick, Tim, literally anyone) realises theres just. A BIG dusty pile of case files semi abandoned somewhere in the cave when going through a (time period)ly cave cleaning.
They put it down because it's Not Important.
They come back to finish the cleaning the next day and do the exact same thing, but there's nothing to actually distract them this time and it pings as weird. Because why would case files be not important? They are by definition important, because only things flagged as important go into case files.
They try to get someone else to read it, because as long as they don't read the information in the file, they don't put it down.
That person goes to read it, gets a line in and then says something like 'that isn't important' and goes to leave. Person A pushes it and person B ALSO catches on.
Que the Batfam trying to figure out hey, what the fuck actually?
Meanwhile, how is Amity fairing? Canon compliant everything's going alright? Or have knock on effects to No One Look Here started to show?
Do deliveries get treated like the case files? Business meetings? Taxes?
Lets see how much i can flex my knowledge of societal logistics.
Edited: wait lol i should have tagged bc i realised i rebloged in a way you probably wouldn't see the reply @kaidatheghostdragon OOh initially I was envisioning the perception filter as like, purely location based. So if you leave or enter the area determines on whether the PF is affecting you or not. So take Jazz going to university which is a common trope in post canon dp works, Jazz goes off to university and just Forgets about Amity. Her family? Oh her family was, was, they weren't really around she supposes. But there are articles in the magazines she was interviewed for that clearly have her interacting with her family, why can't she remember that? Where did these interviews happen? What's going on? (she forgets about it by the next morning, but honestly 'Jazz solving the mystery of her own existence' would be such an entertaining way to take this, hell, Jazz coming back confused about the existence of the town could be a fabulous way for the town to start understanding exactly what has happened) BUT I love the idea of this being both location and local people based! The show very much gives the impression of the GIW being outsiders considering they arrive in the town for the million dollar ghost bounty I believe? So then they're not affected while in town but very much affected while outside of it, which might be able to protect the AP distribution centre for a while until the GIW get their anti filters working - after all if the centre is far enough outside of town by the time the GIW get there they'll have forgotten there's anything to target
I love that you went the ghostly worker and supply route too because I started thinking of that soon into the post, and tying very much into potential tyranny/redemption for/from Vlad, his portal in Wisconsin could be an absolutely VITAL life line for the town, hell the APDC (AP distribution centre) could be based out in Wisconsin as a way to keep it safer from the GIW and to keep it extra disconnected from the town so there's no risk of the Perception Filter somehow swallowing it. Goods could then be travelled through the ghost zone (which would likely result in loads of ecto contamination for a while because the Fentons couldn't stop the contamination in their own home) which would push the GIW to seeing the entirety of the town as contaminated and might be the catalyst to them trying to finish cutting the town off from the outside world for 'cleansing and containment' - starting with their very tenuous supply line. This might push the town to being more isolated BUT a big thing would be the schools actually!! Surely if things like internet and the like are cut off then testing is too - amity suddenly has to define it's own testing systems and what they teach, they probably have to have an entire sector dedicated to faking students results, after all they need doctors (and other professions) being trained for the future right? But if no one can look for the results or applications or even the exams from Amity all of a sudden the place has a big problem because they can't even get an education that's recognised or in line with the wider world which further isolates them if they have no prospects in 'the outside'. Already bad for the students in high school and probably devastating for the ones who were ready to go to university, but the knock on effects on younger kids would be WILD even assuming the PF was taken down quickly, the culture shift alone would be incredible I also realised this sounds very much like Amity in TUE which honestly amity was doing really well even with the rest of the world literally rubble??? they might do fine for themselves isolated away. I can't imagine anyone had much more warning about Dans oncoming rampage than amity did about suddenly ceasing to exist so this funky little eldritch weirdness might do really well for itself actually!
I didnt wven think about using vlads portal as a potential traffic route. Furthermore, once immediate needs are satisfied, the fentons could build two new portals as a dedicated shipping route to free up theirs once again. One is placed at the APDC, the other at a transport hub built in amity's industral and/or commercial district. Their entrances into the zone are moved so that their only a few hundred yards distant, with a security peremeter to surround it. A specter speeder is built to tug goods between those two portals, with a transport time that is shorter than how long it takes to unattach the tug trailer and reattach a new one.
The whole thing gives of the same vibes as those scifi settings that use hyperspace as a form of FTL. Was hyperspace transport just invented by a small town trying to solve a shipping crisis caused by a treality-warping incident and compounded by xenophobic laws? Why yes, yes it was.
And that short hop ectocontaminating the goods slowly increasing the liminality of everyone in town? That just means that more and more resources from the realms themselves become palatable to the parkers. Who needs to order fruit from california through a convoluted and patchwork shipping network when there is plenty of edible food from the realms, AND the ghosts are immune to the perception filter? No more lost shipments, baby.
I didnt think about standardised education either. I was of the mindset that the perception filter was an "out of sight, out of mind" type of thing. In other words, if an amity parker physically went to a face to face meeting with someone out of town, they could have their meeting without weird mental blocks happening. Video and maybe even regular calls might even work, as long as the amity parker is NEVER put on hold, cause theyre gonna get forgotten and left on hold immediately.
Also, whatever problem theyre trying to solve needs to be solved then and there, or appointments for another physical appointment need to be made and scheduled, or they get dropped. Basically, automated services save the day, because then its a "whos on the schedule for 1130?" Type of thing thats just going through a routine thats already been set up. Anything to the extent of "let me hang up and see what i can do, then call you back to report" will fail every time.
So back to education, things are a real bummer for anyone in danny's class and up that wanted to go to college out of state, but through trial and error, and being extremely proactive and stubborn, some are able to get their records out of amity and get properly enrolled. By a couple of years after danny has graduated, i think enough alternatives have been explored that the dreaded OutParker Immigration Hassle is solved by most parkers simply never leaving town. A few individuals might still yearn for the outer world, but in a town where almost nobody leaves, the only education that matters is the education that the town itself recognizes.
Enter ghosts, who, by the nature of the realms, could be from anywhere and anywhen - including the future. Instead of going to college, amity opens up a sort of apprenticeship trade school. Every student is paired with a ghost mentor who is an expert in their chosen career path, and that ghost teaches them everything they know and then shadows them as they start to work in that field. The plethora of ghosts means that there are plenty of mentors to maintain a one-to-one teacher-student ratio, which is probably the reason why it works so well.
At this point, amity park is so cut off from the rest of the world and so highly liminal that it might as well be an extension of the realms. They consider themselves americans ethnically, but perhaps not strictly legally. The US government keeps overlooking them and nobodys federal taxes have been audited in years. If danny is the ghost king, he may have simply claimed his haunt as part of his domain, making amity park essentially a foreign nation.
And on the topic of government records and questionable citizenship status, what about social security numbers? I'd think ensuring that newborns have a legal identity would still be important for the sake of fighting the anti-ecto acts. Each ssin essentially proves that the us government declared them human beings and citizens of the US. At the very least, if the giw abducts any amity parkers, they have to go through the hassle of covering up the record that they exist. The perception filter works against them here, but any record of existence is better than nothing.
All birth certificates and ssins will have to be handled in a neighboring town's hospital to avoid perception filter hang-ups. Also, all amity parkers are technically dual citizens if this is how they handle the situation. And this makes Amity Park a place where - at least on paper - nobody is born and nobody dies, because all of those records are handled out-of-town. Possibly more than just paper for the dying part, if liminality guarantees ghosthood upon death. What's the point of reporting a death if the guy still shows up for work? Declaring his death might just cause more problems: canceling insurance, ending licenses, closing out bank accounts, foreclosing properties, activating a will, throwing custody of children into question, etc etc.
(Yes, we all know Larry has been dead for the last three years, but those have been the three greatest years of his existence now that he's no longer bedridden with chronic pain from a terminal illness and you will NOT ruin that for him before he gets to watch his kids graduate!)
More portals is a great idea! and honestly might not be too hard? it depends on how much material they need but frankly the portals are large but not THAT large - a fleet of trucks repurposed into the portals and speedster might well be doable. (unless they wanted to size them up which would be smart actually - more shipments fitting through for a city of a few million would be important) Anyone displaced job wise in Amity might be able to take up guard shifts on the portal as well, both to stop unassuming humans and GIW agents from getting inside in one direction, and to stop ghosts wandering out from the other.
Anyone who wants to continue trucking likely still has a job in things like people and document transport - even just getting a bus is probably a nightmare if the driver can't acknowledge you and taxis can't pick you up (hang up after ordering and your ride isnt arriving) (Buses might be an iffy problem if they work differently in America but essentially here you have to wave the bus down. If there's no one at the stop or no one getting off at the stop the bus continues on past, and depending on how strong you want to make the filter people might not even be able to acknowledge you unless you are directly interacting with them, for the sake of simplicity we'll say once youre out of the town you can interact with people normally) Automated systems would literally be the life blood of the town for a while yeah and actually bring up a possibility where morality would come hard into question here as well because like.
Anyone who has a credit card essentially has unlimited money. As I understand people have to chase you up on the debt on them (I've never had one they aren't as common here as they are in the states where it seems like every person ever has one??) and they have to cut you off if you don't pay? like it gets flagged on the system and then someone goes in and does it? SO if people can't remember to cut them off then Amity Park just might crash the economy lmao. Imagine Tucker alone, with unlimited funds and the ability to get any technology he wants delivered to his door.
There is now potentially an entire CITY of people developing obsessions, with potentially unlimited funds. No one on the outside can understand or figure out why the economy is crashing, what's happening to inflation, why are warehouses across the country emptying of goods where are they going?? This went from an 'Amity surviving disaster' Scenario to 'Amity causing Disaster' Scenario real suddenly jfgiow Also for Education i think i might have had a brain fart because i suddenly remember?? in the show?? Lancer just. GRADES one of dannys major tests (how analogous to real life is that test btw? like is there a real version of it or is this Cartoon Nonsense?) directly in front of him on the same day. Is it just that it's because if he cheats that the nasty burger explosion kills all his loved ones and that's why it's important or is that ACTUALLY a Significant Test that the government keeps record of?
Depending on if teachers can just CASUALLY mark their students Major Tests themselves what i was thinking may or may not apply. Here the education system basically has it that though teachers are the ones that mark tests, it's not YOUR teachers. All tests are collected and sent away under an examinee number, the results are then connected to that number and who you are is never known to the examiner.
Now if all the results are going away as 'Amity Park' those boxes of tests maybe never even make it to the marking facilities - they literally might just get thrown away as trash by people along the route. Then you're shit out of luck if your tests were in the early days of the filter because NO ONE KNEW.
Arguably this could be solved by setting up a fake address or building a new school outside the town, but if the GIW are causing a blockade that might not be possible. Frankly even just building a school can take so long WITHOUT people forgetting that you're applying to do so that by the time anyone gets half way finished with it the culture of the town might have shifted into the one to one mentorship which is honestly such a GLORIOUS concept. Early schooling could and should be kept the same bc as much as people (myself included) hate the fact you have to take so many subjects, the opportunity to explore that many subjects is honestly a privilege.
It would also make things like school fairs/job fairs frankly AMAZING - after all the more students you can attract to your obsession the more you get to ramble/teach/share the thing you love so much you persisted after death for it. That's gonna be a lot of very, very passionate and engaged teachers even once you filter out all the ones who just suck at communicating or who aren't otherwise suitable.
And for those who still do want to leave, well, honestly once you break out of the town if the filter only pertains to everything amity but you yourself are fine as long as you disconnect yourself from reminders of amity (and can appear 'normal'/non-ghostly) then literally all amity has to do is turn fake IDs into a legit business. Like, instead of being criminal there's suddenly a fake ID shop next to the shoe repair store and the local grocers in town. Maybe it's a specialised wing of the APDC like the worlds weirdest take on a food court. Legal identity would still be important but i think as long as they can route out the GIW (a fight that can last as long as you want it bc realistically when you have a very very terrifying situation like your entire towns existence being forgotten i can see that initially driving people in DROVES to the GIW if they can convince the town they are the only ones working on fixing it. People react strangely to stressors) The deaths would probably take a really long time to notice from the outside but the births could be interesting if it takes the route of 'as long as your documents don't say amity you have no issues' actually. Essentially that would mean all the neighbouring towns would have a spike in birth rate which careful managing of who goes where could keep on the quite for a while, but eventually it starts to look like there are lots of missing persons cases in a rough ring around Amity. After all if all these babies are being born and then their addresses are registered to the city they were born in then the doctors should be looking for them for check ups, when people keep not showing up to scheduled check ups suddenly theres a paper trail of possibly millions of children who've gone unaccounted for. If they can remember to report them because there's no link to Amity to block the need to do so then missing persons cases go up with no answers to be found, this could lead to around a years timeline for the JL to be able to find amity, considering the pattern itself would indicate there's something very wrong going on with a spike in birth rates and then just a hole, essentially, in the mapped data.
The idea that amity is causing an economic collapse for the rest of the nation is hilarious and i love it, but idk how likely it would be. I think you're underestimating just how big america is, and how fucked its economy already is. (Though perhaps things are run better in a world where being a corrupt politician/elite comes with the risk of being investigated by the justice league, whistle blown by lois, and then hospitalized by batman just for good measure.)
Im autistic and have managed to keep a credit score of zero, so i dont know a lot about credit cards, but my understanding is that credit cards here have a limit thats determined by your credit score, and if you go into the bank to get a credit loan (slightly different from a credit card, but usually called the same), they also look at your income and assets. As far as im aware, like debit cards, if the card goes over the limit, subsequent transactions fail (and you get a big fee). Or maybe they dont fail because debt slavery is a concept that lots of americans don't understand, and credit companies ruthlessly exploit? Idk.
Now, i dont know if this happens in other countries, but here we have an epidemic of credit companies mailing out filled forms for extremely high interest rate credit cards. Entire lawsuits have been had by people being threatened by creditors for debts in their name they had no knowledge of because mail thieves got the forms, and literally all they had to do was forge a signature for free money.
This whole system is automated. So, while individual cards have a limit, amity parkers could theoretically get an endless supply of cards. Though i imagine the amount of junk mail they get will taper and fall over time as automated systems are increasingly updated and amity's addresses are corrupted, lost, and forgotten. That transition to move everything to the APDC address probably caused a huge decrease as well. Its also possible that the computer program running the mail-scam credit cards is sophisticated enough that while people have forgotten amity, the algorithms still know the location and is tracking transactions, seeing that payments arent being made, so less cards are sent as financial risk (for the company) increases. Again, Idk.
In this situation, anything Parkers buy IS getting paid for - the credit companies are the ones losing the money because they aren't being paid by the card-holder. This WILL start an investigation, and with how crazy the dc world is, i wouldn't be surprised if magic-based private investigators are a legitimate niche field for particularly mind-whammy cases. They would recognize and counteract the perception filter, at least for themselves, and figure out what was going on. Then, they would probably just advise the companies to take all Amity Park addresses off their systems and cancel all Amity Park cards. Still, that'll take time, so AP probably has a few months or years of free reign before being cut off. Perhaps its what allows them the money necessary to set themselves up as self-sufficient?
Why can credit companies get through but not the IRS? A number of reasons. First, my handwavy excuse that danny's reality rewrite was targeting the government, so the government gets hit the worst. Second, the responsibility of taxes largely falls on the person paying the taxes, which, again, out of sight, out of mind. Third, in the cartoon, the GIW wield the threat of auditing taxes for comedic effect. But if the entire town is declared non-sentient, why expect them to pay taxes?
Fourth, let's say a couple of magic investigators working for the IRS get through the filter. They harrass a couple of Parkers and the Parkers' response? The government doesn't recognize their town exists, has stopped paying for infrastructure upkeep, has cut off their banks, has forsaken their schools, and on top of All That, created an entire branch of the government to hunt them like animals because their people have been legally declared non-sentient. If they were to kill them and leave their dead bodies out in the open on main street for everyone to see, nobody from outside city limits would remember they even existed, let alone come looking for them. (The same warning is given to the credit companies' debt collectors, and the credit cards start getting canceled shortly after that.)
Last, if Amity Park is claimed as part of the Ghost King's domain, the US legally can't demand taxes from a foreign nation. (That would devolve into a huge argument over the sovereignty of the ghost zone and their right to claim AP, but it could only be started if enough people on the outside can remember long enough to actually contest the claim, and how much influence giw has when they discover that their sworn enemy has stolen an entire city from their nation - and even made them forget.)
Regardless of whether the credit companies deliberately cut them off or the cards naturally expire (and they stop getting new ones), afterwards, Amity Parkers have to go out of town to get loans and credit, which is a hassle when large swathes of their financial history cant be found as Amity is increasingly sectioned-off from the rest of the world. It's just another reason to remain in Amity and become self-sufficient.
However, i like the idea of various perception-filter-immune individuals (magic users, supernatural creatures, god-blessed, maybe a few metas and psychics, etc) stumbling into Amity and all its bat guano crazy. Amity Park's forged document industry absolutely explodes in growth. It's an in-broad-daylight market with competing businesses and legal regulations and protections because it's seen in Amity Park as a legitimate and necessary commodity. All these people living on the edges of society to hide their strangeness now have a way to participate without drawing attention. The black market for forged documents nationwide is collapsing as those immune to the filter introduce those that aren't, and nobody in the business can quite puzzle out why.
OTOH, crime might increase as fugitives running from the law seek refuge in Amity Park's perception filter. Sure, some of them are running from discrimination, but most will inevitably deserve their fugitive status and start causing problems - right up until phantom puts his foot down and proves exactly *why* he's top dog. Amity Park would probably treat the situation as not that different from when the portal first opened and most of the new visitors were trouble makers until phantom established the status quo.
Onto the CAT - it was absolutely a parody of standardized testing, and the idea that lancer would just have the answersheet on his on his person at all times is laughable. I supposed one could argue that clockwork orchestrated a series of events to make it happen, but it's definitely not realistic.
The two main standardized tests in the united states are the SAT and ACT, which are designed for college admission. Many states also have standard tests for their schools to benchmark progress at certain grades, which is what the CAT probably was, given that danny is a high school freshman. Here's a link:
https://educationadvanced.com/resources/blog/list-of-standardized-tests-by-state/
My understanding is that the tests, once complete, are mailed to the committee that created the test for grading, and the summary of results are mailed back to the school, but in my 5 minute quick dive, i couldnt find anything to verify that, and its very likely that different states handle their tests differently. I also discovered that this is the first year that the SATs were taken digitally instead of pen and paper, so that's another level of automation that parkers can exploit.
As for birth certificates and missing persons, i think most of that problem could be handled? Again, Amity Parkers working in neighboring hospitals know that the patients are going home safely and getting regular checkups. Idk what all kind of details go into hospital records outside of legal documents and history of appointments (for billing and health records.) Would hospitals actually record that such and such baby was assigned to such and such doctor for check ups? Idk if that kind of record would exist in order to collect statistics. If it does, then the Amity secretary is the one writing up the records and filing them correctly. Perhaps 'correctly' includes the information that the newborn was moved to Amity General Hospital, Go Look There For More Information. (After all, all Parkers are liminal, and AGH specializes in liminality.)
At the very least, a record of the baby's existence is available, and all the neighboring hospitals would have at least one Amity secretary to handle Amity related appointments, records, billing, etc. Hospital administrators are aware that a perception filter exists that complicates treatment of some of their patients, from... where was it? Oh yeah, Amity Park. Local hires are necessary to keep things running smoothly. All questions regarding the Parkers get directed to That One Secretary. They can answer your questions.
Working with Amity Park pretty often means it doesnt quite fall into that 'out of sight, out of mind' category, (a lot of people in neighboring cities are gonna have family in AP after all, and it was never Danny's intent to make any families forget each other) and the staff have gotten good at recognizing when the filter is screwing with them and know to seek out That One Secretary to help straighten things out.
To be honest, i was actually imagining that the babies and such are actually being born in AGH, but the hospital calls one of the neighboring hospitals to essentially outsource the creation of the birth certificate and ssin, providing the pertinant info. The calls and subsequent record creation are like 90% of the work that the amity secretary does at that hospital (any records, not just birth). The parkers that go to neighboring hospitals only do so because they need that particular hospital's specialization for treatment, and their liminality and the effects it might have for that particular treatment are encoded and treated as meta powers. Honestly, this set-up might only last until enough ghost doctors are hired and AGH is expanded enough to handle literally anything, as an increasingly liminal population means that in more and more cases, the liminality of the patient effects treatment in a way that the other hospitals cant account for.
In other words, looking at the hospital records would show a few things:
AGH stopped handling all childbirth, all amity parkers converted to at-home delivery, and unfailingly send the forms for birth certificate requests to neighboring hospitals instead of APG. (Babies are actually born in AGH. Looking up the doctor responsible for their delivery shows that they're employed at APG. I think labeling as at-home delivery would be easier than porting and forging records that they were actually at the neighboring hospital.) This is Really Weird, but anyone who is able to investigate this far already had to overcome the perception filter, and a few questions asked is enough to figure out that the situation screws with legal processes. If they can't get past the filter, they just see an increase in birth certificate/ssin creation in surrounding hospital records, and the statistical anomoly disappears if you discount Amity Park address, so its clearly centered... what were we investigating?
Amity park must have had a recent mutigen event (like dakota city, or central city in continuities where the collider activated everyone's powers, etc) because nearly every amity parker is now listed as a meta in the neighboring hospital records. If they get past the filter, they'll find the AGH records use the term liminal instead of meta. If not, something clearly changed in the greater illinois region, but nobody can really wrap their head around what could have caused the statistically higher percentage of metas from illinois.
After a few years, it becomes apparent that Amity Park's death rate suddenly dropped way lower than neighboring cities (according to the number of cases taken on by the neighboring hospitals). It isn't difficult to connect this to the suddenly meta population, but it's gonna garner interest, much of which will NOT be good. A mutigen that causes extended life/immortality is gonna make a lot of people go crazy for answers. (Maybe AP life expectancy has actually increased, but largely a lot of ghosts are just choosing to not legally report their own death.) Since Amity is under the perception filter, whoever finds out about it is able to harrass Amity without any other outsiders knowing, BUT they themselves have to have worked past the filter as well. It's definitely a double-edged sword.
There is a slow decline of Amity Park patients in surrounding hospitals (as AGH can accommodate more situations and liminality becomes the most important specialization in more cases), even as AP birth rates continue to exceed (or match, if the investigor can see than there are no birth records in AGH) surrounding towns. The ratio of AP birth certificates, death certificates, and other cases in the neighboring hospitals is wildly different compared to any other towns they serve. Birth certificates are way up, death certificates are way down, and the number of patients is declining despite apparent explosive growth in Amity.
If they can see AGH records, there are zero births (but a lot of patients refered within minutes of birth), exceptionally low deaths, and nearly all cases are associating with complications of liminality, which entirely replaces the term metahuman. Statistics for injuries (especially from car accidents), health defects, complications of health decline, cancer, etc are all suspiciously low, as liminality increases durability and decreases recovery time and seriousness of the injury (higher threshold of damage before checking into the hospital means overall fewer cases.)
A new category of health record has also been created: legally alive but biologically dead - ghost health needs are different from a human's after all. Parkers are encouraged to schedule a doctor appointment as soon as possible after they die so they can update their records to reflect their changed needs.
Word gets out, slowly but surely, that an american city hidden from the world exists under a perception filter. Knowing its name makes you forget about it. Most people treat it like an urban myth, but the supernatural populations are suddenly immigrating in large numbers to live in such an accomodating and friendly city. It freaks out the magic users a bit at first, and I'd imagine it only takes a couple of years at most until JLD hears about it, but idk if they would tell the Justice League or not. If Constantine is the first to discover Amity, would he even share with the others at all or keep it to himself?
This got so long I had to split it so the economic/credit card stuff is over here lmao (X) Talking about possibly having people like the Magic Investigators show up imagine how TERRIFYING that would be? To be those investigators I mean. Like you show up, and you find this town. this town no one remembers and it's- It's gorgeous, actually. The infrastructure is pristine, the air is clean and clear, and the cars are flying?? Realistically if the Fenton's are producing portals and generators and converters and speeders of all kinds, there's no reason to limit those things to the ghost zone - the entire city could soon run on ectoplasm for everything from electric to heating to transport. But then you talk to a local and straight up the entire street stops and stares at you. And the investigators become Very, Very aware they are on the edge of, indeed, being left out in the sun for the ghost birds to pick at. (False, murder in Amity is a Bad Idea when everything in Amity knows the dead can come back to find you. Maybe not for ten years, maybe it takes them a hundred years to find you. But the Dead don't rest in this city anymore.) (But what does it matter what Amity Knows? These Outparkers don't Know anything, after all.)
The idea of the filter immune individuals going in and out of town and therefore essentially exporting criminal action (it would still be criminal to forge documents after all, Amity just doesn't acknowledge that or care about the laws of Outside) is so much fun?? It would also be very interesting to see people taking refuge in the town, everything from legit magic users to meta humans to unusual creatures. And honestly the reactions of these Meta's and criminals who thought they were going to be Top Dog in the worlds ready made, perfect criminal base only to essentially be met with the Tiny Baby Godling that is Danny Phantom.
This town running on Green liquid also realistically would attract the attention of the league if it's running on what sounds like Lazarus water and has a very bizarrely legitimised document forging system. Considering the leagues stated goal is essentially ecological stability via genocide (which is I think why they have been labelled eco terrorists???) it would be FABULOUS to play out how they would react to a town that has essentially solved the energy crises BUT where no one can ever die in a way that matters.
As I understand it Ra's (depending on version?) isn't just annoyed by the pollution caused by people but considers people THEMSELVES a pollution, so being unable to actually get rid of people because they just come back as ghosts and are therefore still around being near him would be an issue for him. Like those people who want to run away into the woods so they never have to see people again, but actually he wants to genocide everyone so he never sees people again (yikes) Ooh that's actually really interesting! God considering the absolute hell I went through to get the accommodation to be allowed to use a computer (I've got some stuff going on that affects my ability to write legibly) in my exams that's actually so cool to hear they've just moved exams over to digital for everyone tbh. I also agree that the missing persons stuff could be solved by the idea of long term exposure and connections to the town (like using the secretary proxy) could totally solve the missing persons case! It actually makes total sense that there's no reason for them to have the births be happening outside Amity itself, especially with the lightbulb realisation that actually, Amity could very well specialise in something like Liminal surgery - imagine a C-section where you never have to actually cut into the womb? You can have your usual specialists involved in surgery but also an invisibility/intangibility specialist who's entire job is to essentially make the patient invisible and intangible so the surgeons can work with as little damage to the mother as possible, only cutting the placenta and having the mother pass the afterbirth later instead of risking the nightmare that is tearing or other complications.
This could legit apply to so many surgeries honestly, to the point high risk surgeries can and will be referred into Amity itself or have the specialists possibly fly out depending on if its deemed safe for patient and doctor (Can never rule out a trafficking trap after all. All highly specialised residents go with an escort there and back. They're free to leave whenever they want, but the fear of the GIW or similar groups faking an emergency so they can capture the surgeons is real.)
Heart valves that need to be placed in young kids, brain surgeries where the damage is deep that you suddenly don't have to dig for (that might have been completely inoperable before), leg realignments, all sorts of stuff solved just by not having to cut through the patient to get to the problem Also imagine being one of those secretaries when the JL eventually shows up to investigate and you're the obvious connection to the town no one can find? Like, on one hand no one here is weirder than what you've already seen just growing up. On the other hand this is like the entire FBI arriving on your door, and I don't think most people are immune to the realisation that Troubles Coming.
FR though becoming a Ghost is not unlike becoming a Lich I think. Like you're essentially undead sure but you're suddenly super hard to kill and peoples terror over death is normally the idea of ceasing to exist, so if you become a ghost you 'conquer' death and also get a super power super boost? Oh yeah once people figure that out shit is going DOWN.
It would also be interesting that if people were immigrating in large numbers and the usual death method of population decline no longer applies, how long could the perception filter actually HOLD? Like, if the perception filter grows with Amity, how long until Amity itself eventually eclipses some kind of interstate?
Will people be able to travel that interstate? Will they witness the town as they drive through it, some mad glimpse of utopia, only to forget as they get out the other side?
What if they decide to stop, spend a week, then find out they've been missing with no recollection of that time at all? Constantine could very well stumble across it by that method alone (though honestly I can also see him being one of the hired investigators for what exactly is happening with the credit companies/supply chains) and honestly?? the guy apparently vibes around in magical bars. I think he'd keep it a secret for a while, just to enjoy it, but he'd mention it eventually if for nothing else than the fact I don't know if he'd be alright with ignoring the effects this is having on people just passing through or the wider possible effects on the economy if there are infect any. Also the entire town is running on Death Energy so landing in it is probably like getting full body slammed to someone not expecting it. That might rightly freak him out a Touch. Imagine if the house of mysteries just happened to let him off there without thinking about it? (Also I admit I do not know the significance of the name john Galt ?)
I love all of this!
Revolutionizing emergency care with ghost powers is a topic all its own. Considering that the fentons can replicate ghost powers, they could potentially develop specialized surgical tools. Questions of ecto contamination might even fall in the same category as radiation from x-rays - sure, it's bad, but it's saving your life in the long run.
Okay fingers crossed I can contain myself to condense this all back down into one thread for both our sanities LMAO bc having to split it was Very Overboard of me WHoops Oh yeah you are totally correct that was WAY overestimating then! honestly it being so so much smaller is great bc that means they're going to get away with this shit for WAY LONGER and THAT means weirder and more extreme divergences over time 👀👀👀 and what are we here for if not for Shit Getting Strange?
Honestly I'm digging Rockford for the city base, it does look like Amity in the show. I also can't find what that round building in the river is for in Aurora but it's now going between Amity and Elmerton. I'm just slapping it in there. The river between amity and elmerton is too small for such a large building? Szwoop magical AU powers that's now a big ass river and it's getting a cool building slapped into it, use expanded on later in the post Mostly for the people super spending I was thinking along the lines of people who, essentially, win the lottery or come into large inheritances and then go broke in a few years.
The expenditure to do that must be INTENSE, BUT if the population is much much smaller they can be far more selective about who gets them instead of having what is essentially a panicked dispensing system of 'we need as much as possible immediately' and give it to people they know to be good with money and people they can trust to not essentially attempt to set up bottle necks within the town and who WILL order for their neighbours and not become some kind of problem in the town. So essentially, A smaller population means a healthier community dynamic which means more trust and therefore yeah I would accept that in a city of only 150K, people will fuck each other a LOT less than a city of over a million On the other hand honestly if the Fentons can manufacture the specialised parts in one car I think they can manufacture the specialised parts in any car, but I DO think they would put your ferrari as the lowest priority all the time, so even if they can fix it to run on ecto they probably wont. Tucker it also occurs to me might be the one or at least one of the first to notice that something is up with the towns credit. I'm pretty sure I remember him despairing that he'd nearly paid off his PDA's payment plans as a running joke whenever they got destroyed, so the guy does have reason to have a finger on the pulse of the debt community.
I also head cannon his parents to be dentists tbh, probably bc they're like the 'normal' parents of the group and I feel like 'dentist' is the most normal job. I have absolutely no justification for this, no one in my family is even a dentist to serve as a reason for this opinion. BUT that also means that if Tuckers parents run their own dental surgery, they're up to their chest in Equipment Debt. Correct me if this is a difference again but here apparently dentists have a real time and a half setting up their own practices just because doing so is so expensive.
Considering how extortionately American medicine is supposed to be priced I can't imagine it's any better. But then Tucker goes and essentially confirms with his parents Yeah Somethings up - money is tight all over town after all, so payments haven't been being made but there's, Nothing happening? No ones threatening to reclaim anything? IDK if Tuckers the kind of long term planner to think of it, he definitely seems to be an 'amazing under pressure' sort but kind of needs that pressure as motivation to do stuff? (Very relaxed day to day but literally he's essentially the guy who ACTUALLY dealt with skulker, not Danny, and he does that under SERIOUS STRESS and doesn't even have Batmans prep time)
But Sam has a long term outlook and serious organisational skills considering all her campaigns, so she would definitely lightbulb up like 'we can use this' and then testing commences. Little pokes to see what they can get away with.
Honestly even just the way America builds is an interesting tidbit to how the town would develop because I was ABSOLUTELY thinking build up. Like, if the population grew very very rapidly I was envisioning basically a Kowloon situation, a place where the buildings were growing so thick and tall it was alleged that there were places the sun never reached. These areas once the magical populations start moving in would actually be less of a problem and more of a feature for the light sensitive community, and become sort of an artificial underground considering it does exist above soil level so airflow is actually easier. (Sam would be so stoked for the aesthetic here and is again probably at least partially responsible for how it looks. Gothic Underground City? Tears of joy, her dreams are Real.)
(On the other hand imagine sam having free range over the city scape and how much eco stuff she would shove everywhere, solarpunk with a gothic touch. I guess Sam just gets to grow up to be a city planner in this AU.) (Which honestly makes me want to give Tucker some kind of space age area but arguably that is ALL of Surface Amity once the flying cars and shit start coming in.)(Honestly Old Amity could become a thing in AP like how different places have historically protected towns because they just represent such a picture perfect snap shot of history. APers just to their kids like "this is how we used to live!") This lean towards AP developing this way is mostly because here it is ABSOLUTELY easier to build up than it is to build out, due to both geographical features and to zoning laws, you'd get permission and do get permission for large sky scrapers that knock down old disused buildings and repurpose the ground FAR faster than you get permission to disturb farmland.
This change to the city scape probably wouldn't be an issue till a few years in though, as death fails to decrease the population and outparkers begin to hear about the place and flock in.
I think the GIW would absolutely go after the SPREAD of that technology at least, fearful that it's essentially a trojan horse for the wider population, but considering since its release (and the assumingly decent length of time it's been out in Amity) with no negative side effect, in fact only POSITIVE ones, the pressure on the GIW would be IMMENSE until they where eventually dissolved as 'an embarrassing gaff' on the part of the USA government born of fearmongering.
They certainly aren't going to try and point fingers at the Fentons considering the Fentons are sitting on FTL travel. In fact even when the Filter breaks down Amity might get away with a Lot Of Shit theyve done both from the perspective of 'you declaired us nonsentient and abandoned the town' and the sheer LEVERAGE the Fentons inventions gives Amity (How does that one joke go? if the 1% tries to build a wall to cage in the 99% of the world, it's not the 99% who are going to be living in a cage? that would essentially be the GIW before their dissolution, panicking over people getting 'contaminated') WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE ROUND BUILDING IN THE RIVER!! Honestly The Fentons, with even half these advancements, with the goddamn solution to the energy crisis ALONE in the form of ecto powered homes and cars, are going to be Richer Than God. Do i absolutely think they COULD invent anything and everything we've posited here? Yes. They built an interdimensional portal, these people are nightmares. BUT! I think it's safe to say that the Fentons are people of PASSION. And what people of PASSION tend to want more than anything else is!! For other people to be as excited about their shit as they are! Jack LITERALLY blathers about ghosts to a terrifying degree in the show, he practically POUNCES on people who show even the tiniest HINT they might be willing to listen to his info dumping, so!!!
The round building is the new ecto research facility and university!! Want to be a doctor specialising in liminal care? You study here now! Want to become an engineer who specialises in ecto tech? You study here now! want to become - Etc Etc.
Essentially the demand out grew the Fentons home So Hard they had to set up an entirely new facility, and that's where a fair amount of innovations are coming out of. Danny could actually be a teacher/translator for his parents, considering he's both an expert on ghosts just by emersion and also an expert on deciphering what his parents are saying so he can clear that up for others (Lancer ends up being delighted Danny became a teacher. Danny was his TA for Experience Stuff)
Why in the river? Because I think it looks cool Lmao. (also because realistically it's easier to accommodate aquatic based students and research by building a building that is in the river so they don't have to develop canals and waterways somewhere else in the city and then the transport around that but this is all backwasrds justification just based on 'how fucking cool does that building look?' Nicely done Aurora, I'm in love with it.) ALSO I RELISED there's totally justification for the filter being spotty as a concrete example in canon, VAL!! There's no way Danny doesn't think of her subconsciously as a parker even if she lives in elmerton now, so she absolutely remembers Amity. She talks to one of her neighbours who DOESN'T remember Amity, someone who just works at a local shop instead of trekking across the river for work and they? Don't??? remember Amity?? Until she prompts them like 'yeah you know the whole city across the river? the place I'm from?' and then they're like OH HOLY SHIT. Now the logical, reasonable assumption to that is 'That person had a stroke.' or 'that person is On Something' until it Keeps Happening. It peters off after a while but like this is Valerie 'All ghosts must die' Gray (She hasn't even met Dani yet!!) so actually I've decided that Valerie is the first person who actually puts together that there is some kind of perception filter on the town considering that maybe that morning her BUS TO SCHOOL doesn't arrive because the driver forgot they were on that route and not a different one.
Like other people have detected that Something Is Up, but she's the first non GIW/Fenton person to immediately blame ghosts, and she would hunt that down like the menace she is (Affectionate) She also wouldn't have to be prompted to remember bc realistically she is Liminal so yes! lets say liminals are immune. Jason doesn't recognise the files at first bc maybe the investigation was happening around the time he was on the outs with the family (I'm placing Danny and Jason around the same age in this AU so the Justice league would be Set Up when Amity starts getting strange but is maybe not yet everyone's ''shits going weird 'Who you gonna call? Justice League!'" reaction.)
(Also if Danny and Jason are the same age/a year apart, Danny opens the portal only a short while before Jason DIES so Jason is literally not around to investigate Amity getting its freak on.) AND RIGHT HOW WEIRD WOULD THAT BE FOR JASON??? Like it's not like any of his family are known for being absentminded about details, being steel trap nightmares about cases is kind of a DEFINING bat trait, so when it's his turn to read the file and he says 'its a file on some town called Amity Park?' and everyone just sort of Goes To Do Something Else simultaneously? AWFUL. HE HATES THIS ALREADY. AND THEN IMAGINE. IMAGINE. HE FINALLY GETS A LEAD. He gets a lead on some smuggling ring, one he's been chasing weeks or months, and he's rocking up to the warehouse, ready to School Some Fuckers, and who the hell is this? Looking like he could be a Wayne Adoptee™? Well the guy won't tell Jason his name. Fine, It's not like Jason isn't undercover too. Sometimes you get an unexpected team up. Jason knows how to handle those and how to be careful that he doesn't get his shit rocked by a betrayal. They work great together actually? The guy is clearly some kind of Meta and as they fight Jasons getting pretty suspicious that this guy is involved with the mysterious Amity actually, and at the end of the fight? The guy whips out some weird little thermos thing and sucks up all the smuggled evidence. Jason demands a name at that point because hey that's his evidence he kind of needs that! and Danny just smirks as he screws the thermos lid closed., "You can call me John Galt." And Vanishes like the Little Shit he really is. And Jason? Jason's brain has just flat lined and erupted all in the same moment at the GALL of this asshole. The pure CHEEK. Because Jason right? He's a lit nerd. There's no way he hasn't read that book (which actually sounds really good) but he KNOWS that the bastard just taunted him with that. Maybe didn't expect him to catch it immediately but JASON DID OKAY? And Jason is more invested than ever to find Amity Park and 'john FUCKING galt' just so he can give him a piece of his mind for being such a cheeky shit, but first he apparently has to find an entirely new lead and figure out what to do with these smugglers, considering it looks like 'Galt' wasn't alone. The rest of the facility has been cleared of both evidence and information, and the smugglers weren't contaminated/connected enough to remember without the evidence and reminder files on hand. Jason is FUMING. (he's also put himself on Dannys radar as a possible liminal to introduce to Amity if he turns out to be cool. Not that he knows about this. But Danny is already planning how to 'run into' each other again.) (Batman in this definitely tends towards 'Well meaning but fucks up sometimes, + Paranoia' so he's absolutely loosing his mind that there's something he can't even remember to account for and he's sending his son straight into it. So he's freaking out every time he remembers there's something to freak out about, even if he's doing it Very Quietly.)
Honestly though if ecto ONLY has positive effects there absolutely would be people who balk at that because it's the definition of 'too good to be true'. That fear is probably actually the biggest road block to getting rid of the AEA and the GIW in the end, just people being WIGGGED OUT I'd say once the surgical stuff starts being a thing is really where I'm going to place the count down timer for the filter surviving. The rest of the advancements can be passed off as alien tech, the people flying? obviously metas. But once that contamination starts spreading and people become immune to the filter? It starts eating away at what's left of the destroyed Gauntlets power.
If Danny HADN'T smashed the gauntlet, I'd say it's power would never have been so permeable and faulty or inclined to ever wear off but he DID blow that thing up like a fourth of july firework so BOOP the power was always far more limited than it should have been for an ongoing effect. (The one and done turn back doesn't unravel because the gauntlets power essentially stopped being used to implement the change once it was completed. Think a pot of boiling water compared to a pot of cooked rice - the water stops boiling but rice is always cooked once it's cooked) Essentially, yes to herd immunity! The weight of all those minds Looking and Thinking around the filter in combination eat away at and eventually collapse the filter.
I also feel like people would absolutely start selling fake ecto, essentially everyone knows it's green and glowing and hard to get so just set up a bunch of shitty hoops then give people glow stick fluid and book it. Horribly Immoral? Yes. But unfortunately in this ecto is essentially bordering on a Real, In universe cure all and people are going to exploit the SHIT out of that - no one who's been to AP could ever mistake the difference, but for people who haven't seen the real stuff? Hard to know. It could also be that at a certain point of contamination you essentially get auto access to citizenship in Amity? Like, you get warned before treatment that 'The power source of the machines' may invoke changes in you' which I'm sure they would find a way to put FAR less ominously, but then once they hit that threshold they can start thinking and talking about ecto and that's when the doctors know to be like 'okay do you want to see AP and learn about what these changes may become? Or have someone come out to you? and i mean that's like being asked 'hey do you want to visit el dorado' yeah people are GOING.
I feel like most of the villains would honestly get their shit kicked in especially if they were going in unprepared. Like theres tech for fighting ghosts so if you got hands on that you have a shot but ra's would be one of the first on scene and maybe he gets reports back and thinks he can take it bc HE has been using the pits and by all counts it seems pit use is ecto use so he should be resistant to their powers naturally. Unfortunately that means nothing when it becomes clear just HOW FAR and HOW MANY insane liminals and ghosts there are here. Like LMAO Ra's I'm sorry even with your super genius self and all your fighting prowess I think the Magical Teenager who can drag you into the tarmac of the road and leave you there wins, and it's not like he has time to luxuriate over plans. Other people are moving in, this town is NEW it's FUCKY, it's FRESH. Even anti-ghost tech isn't gonna do shit to something you can't hit if it's in the road beneath you, and there is very little tech in the DP universe that works on both human realm and infinite realm materials/entities. In fact I think Vlad is the only one with it and I'm not even sure if that's fanon or canon. (And also because yeah the idea of him going on trial in the realms? Funny as fuck. Also potentially Cathartic bc realistically the guy is an assassin he has been killing people for SO LONG there are a LOT of angry dead for him to meet.) (FUCK YES to the brawls/fighting rings. This is open not just to the assassins but to any liminals and probably has different 'tiers' like black belt tournaments and shit. The ghosts are eating it UP. The Ex-LoA members who specialise in tracking get all sorts of crazy events going where they chase each other through the cities and wilderness. Honestly they could very much end up serving as the backbone of APs new investigation services and security services - they have to find all the smugglers after all, and if amity is helping the world be a ecologically cleaner place then really??? it's probably not as hard a leap to make as would be expected - the dogma literally goes well together, they just Kill Less.)
Quick google map search says the round river building is a casino, lol. I absolutely love the idea of making it a research building.
The bridge between amity and elmerton was a golden gate knockoff, so the water space there is absolutely large enough. I always kinda figured the river was more of an artificial lake created by a dam downstream to account for its width, and if the beach (in attack of the killer garage sale) is along the river, then it accounts for the stillness of the water and the ability to build up a sandy beach for tourism. (Which could be an interesting point of contention if the dam operators forgot there was a city upstream that needs water AND to not be flooded. Guess another amity parker needs to be stationed there.)
I thought the foleys being dentists was universal fanon? Business debt absolutely makes sense here. Idk about dentistry specifically, but starting pretty much any business in the US is a huge money sink to get started. Specialized equipment, business license, etc, all cost money, and high taxes make it very difficult to pay off start-up debts.
Anecdote time, ive heard that an unusually high percentage of dentists in the US are mormon. Im not sure how to go about looking this up and verifying that its true, but from what i understand, one of the main dentistry schools here preferencially accepts mormons to the point they had to fight a lawsuit for discrimination. My understanding is that they won, because they were able to prove that they had found mormons to be more fiscally responsible and more likely to pay off school debts, had a higher work ethic, and caused fewer problems because they dont drink or party like typical college students do. Ie, they never actually selected for mormonism, but knowing the person was mormon was a good indicator of other traits that they did select for. Anecdote over.
Idk if tucker would be mormon specifically, but i dont think some generic christian would be out of character. It's a nice contrast to sam being canonically jewish and danny being fanonically athiest or agnostic. (His parents *certainly* dont understand the true meaning of christmas.)
As for Tucker noticing the credit card fuckery, I pretty much agree with your assessment. To me, the trio dynamics appeared to me as Sam being the Big Idea person, Tucker being the goal-oriented Executor, and Danny being the Workhorse that can Make Anything Happen.
Sam, to me, seems like she's got grand ideas but thinks too big to be able to break things down into managable steps. She's too caught in the moment and focused too much on the grand gesture of Making A Stand. Tucker seems like the expert in that regard, making schedules and managing progress. He keeps track of the minutia, makes records, and sets reasonable goals. Danny is as much along for the ride as he is the leader. He keeps Sam and Tucker focused and working together instead of competing, and is the leader in the sense that he's the tie-breaker and the strategist that puts the others to best use. But he's very much beholden to Sam's Ideas and Tucker's Management. They're all equals and pull their own weight.
I see your vision of building up and agree with your logic. After all, TUE Amity built up, presumably because they were limited by the size of the shield. In this au, once the filter is acknowledged, they might err on the side of caution. You mentioned eclipsing an interstate earlier? Perhaps they recognize that the interstate is an artificial boundary they shouldn't cross. They're also butted up against a river/lake, so thats two sides they're now blockaded. Perhaps another reason the Fenton Research Facility is on the water - it was the only place to build! (Also, if the building caught fire, they could break the foundation and submerge it before it spreads to another building? Idk, just an Idea i had.)
Sam would be a huge proponant of urban farming. There are papers suggesting that with our current technology, skyscraper hydroponic farms might be more efficient than traditional farms. My understanding is that the biggest blockade is startup costs - which we've already solved for Amity. And it provides a space to experiment with liminal cultivars!
I really like the idea of City Planner Sam, its such a logical extension of her Big Ideas personality, and years of ghost hunting with danny and tucker has tempered her to have more achievable ideas, and to defer to experts to advise on what is and isnt safe.
Also, vlad canonically made a ghost shield that also works on humans. Skulker also handcuffed danny and valerie together. Canonically, "humans are the ghosts" in the ghost zone, so i'd imagine making tech to affect both humans and ghosts is simply a matter of building it out of materials from both sides, at least in most cases. Dousing tech in ectoplasm to make it ghost proof is just one example.
Actually, the shield vlad made was blue, iirc, and i think the TUE shield was too? Did alt-future Vlad create the Amity shield, then got banished some time later? In a world where everything is being systematically destroyed by an unstoppable force, humans fighting over resources becomes just as big a threat. Strict immigration limits would also have to be ruthlessly enforced to ensure that pop growth didn't outpace its self sustainability.
Honestly, it makes perfect sense to me that Vlad would have attempted to pull a phantom planet stunt to rule the world in return for creating life-saving defenses. And he didn't have ghost powers to back up his threats, so he eventually got kicked out once someone successfully called his bluff. Valerie and her dad upkept the shields, and Damon canonically works high-tech security, so presumably, he managed to find and remove any sabatoge Vlad might have placed in his tech to keep control, or reverse engineered his own to get society out from under Vlad's thumb, before he was then thrown out to the wolves.
Lastly, ecto-contamination being purely positive. What if it isnt? What if it makes you more obsessive, but it takes years to become noticable? Amity Parkers just shrug it of as being more ghostly. Its an Obsession, capital O, now a legit quirk of psychology, and a bit of management is all you need to stay on top of it.
But outsiders, after several years of deliberately contaminating themselves and after fighting a war against the giw for their fear mongering, are suddenly worried that the giw were right all along? It has the potential to be really hilarious AND really angsty.
I mean, bodies are made for moderation. You eat a little, sleep a little, work a little, play a little, then rinse and repeat. They aren't designed to survive staying up three weeks straight, without stopping for food or rest, while you enter a fugue state hyperfocused on your current interest (to the chagrin of every autist ever). Except liminal biology actually DOES accommodate for that, at least somewhat. Society is gonna have to adjust now that people as a whole are suddenly much less able to stick to a strict schedule of work, sleep, rinse, repeat. (When everybody is autistic, nobody is. Lol.)
I love just how many things get fucked up just by forgetting a single city exists, which makes so much sense but also really just does Keep Going the more you think about it
Honestly there are so many variations of 'we have to remind this place that Amity exists so the town doesn't get Completely Fucked' that I feel like they now deserve their own sort of collective name, maybe links? that's a bit of a limp name though If we wanna keep up the spooky ghost theme to it they could be collectively known as Revenants. Considering they would literally be returning from the land of the dead at this point once Amity is effectively Annexed to the Infinite Realms. (Can it even be classed as Annexing at this point? Or would it be more closely linked to the worlds most bizarre case of squatters rights - you abandoned this town for so long that the ghosts literally moved in and it's theirs now. Suckers.)
DC x DP Prompt: John Constantine met and took a liking to Danny, so he starts hyping him up to keep people from summoning him:
Only really have a basic premise for this. Essentially, when the JL received an unusual number of calls about ghosts from a town in the middle of nowhere they decided to send a member of JLD to check it out and see if it’s a hoax or if they needed to intervene. As a little known by the public, but still extremely knowledgeable mage who could deal with most situations (and who just so happened to have pissed Batman off earlier that week) John got volunteered for this “exciting” assignment of spending a month getting the stink eye for smoking anywhere and investigating what everyone was convinced amounted to some kids playing pranks. Worst part being that he couldn’t even slack off, because he knew that in the unlikely case that it’s more even a few small incidents might point to a future catastrophic magic doomsday scenario.
So it happens that John goes to Amity Park only to find what amounts to a dimensional border dispute. It’s everything that could give him a headache rolled into one: crazy whack job ‘scientists’ who didn’t get the memo that they are supposed to run a con when studying ghosts and somehow managed to tear open a hole into reality, a literal kid with godlike powers and way too much idealism throwing around magic far past his understanding without even contemplating the possibility of backlash, inter-dimensional entities varying in power from the equivalent of a minor poltergeist up to above god-tier entering the world without needing any kind of invitation on regular basis to wreak havoc and the US government deciding they know better and proceeding to make things as bad as they can instead of calling anyone who actually knows what they’re doing. In the middle of this it’s downright trivial for him to found out about Danny, he simply improvised a location spell and then was disappointed in himself it even took that much upon meeting the kid, he then proceeds to try to convince this teen hero to agree on calling the JL to try fixing this hellhole up, but he stubbornly refuses (Danny is not sure whether or not the League will side with the GIW, but he is painfully aware of who is going to get the short end of the stick for creating a homemade dimensional tear in the first place and - for all their faults - Danny does love his parents and doesn’t want them to get in trouble). They are still on an impasse with John almost at the point of sidestepping Danny entirely to call the League himself when Pariah Dark is freed.
The fight is exactly as grueling as you’d think, even with John helping out by throwing enchantments on the armor and flinging spells at Pariah. By the end though Amity doesn’t go back automatically and John quickly realizes someone has to claim the crown to get the power to send it back and that it will only accept Danny by right of conquest. Problem resulting from this is that now John has a very good reason to keep things under wraps, because Danny? Is now technically the new Ghost King, meaning that there are plenty of mages, cultists and wack-jobs of every type who will be eager to try summoning him now that Pariah (who had a reputation to getting furious at the attempt and proceeding to kill off the would-be summoners alongside their entire lineage) is no longer the target, but at the same time he knows damn well that things like the tyrant king being overthrown don’t just stay unmentioned indefinitely, so having taken a liking to Danny during his stay Constantine decides to… muddle the waters somewhat in the hopes that it will hold off summoning until Danny is used enough to his powers to hold his own against the big baddies of the multiverse.
Way he found to do that is to throw around wild rumors and acting scared of the Ghost King, stating publicly multiple times that he only met the guy once and wouldn’t dare try for a second time or remarking what a terrible idea summoning Danny is by stating he is some Eldritch monstrosity who will destroy their dimension by sheer proximity if he shows up and not even notice. That ends up working because if this Sad Trench-coat Man who regularly antagonizes gods and demons of all stripes, who legitimately invokes freaking Trigon for bargaining, who out-tricked the devil and then walked away with no consequences thinks this guy is a step too far then by the Abyss, nobody wants to mess up and find out, welp time to burn those summoning tomes.
Idea.
Some of Constantine’s less intelligent enemies learn about John’ “fear” of the Ghost King and decide to summon said king in order to finally beat the Hellblazer.
Shenanigans ensue
Johnny explained to Danny what he was going to do and why, so upon being summoned Danny committed to the bit. Now, he couldn’t exactly trick people into thinking they got the wrong guy or that he was some sort of costumer service for the actual king, unfortunately even idiots who managed to pull off the summoning would know enough to call bullshit even if the crown was somehow not a dead giveaway. Knowing this Danny instead leans into his supposed Eldritch nature and Orange-Blue morality reputation to make the summoner regret the attempt and believe they barely survived.
First thing is the wardrobe: a teenage on jumpsuit with his initials written on it doesn’t exactly scream “transdimensional horror from beyond the stars, don’t fuck with” for anyone who isn’t a middle school teacher and sadly he can’t shape-shift yet (a ghost’s appearance is fully adjustable in theory, but in practice body dimorphism is very much a thing for ghosts and they will just subconsciously refuse to change from the form that reflects their self-image for more than short-term usage such as opening a hole to avoid a shot, the only ones who can do so are either those whose self-image is so tied to a concept that it changes according to how they interact with it - like CW, who were never attached to their own body in the first place - like Amorpho, or who are so old they completely lost touch with their sense of self), so he makes do by claiming his appearance is the closest thing he can get to lowering himself to a form that won’t fry the supplicant’s mind on sight and adding a bunch of random accessories from all around to increase the creepy factor.
Danny decides quite early on that he is going for a space theme, which prompted Sam to get him the summaries and analysis of a bunch of Lovecraft and Stephen King’s works to inspire him on the cosmic horror gimmick. First thing to come to mind for Danny were the stars, so he searched around and found an universe quite close to death, no inhabitants to be seen, but plenary of stars all around and reality becoming quite moldable due to it’s fraying. It took quite a bit of try and error, but ultimately he managed to unweave the space upon which a Neutron Star was floating without damaging it, Dorothea was then kind enough to have one of her seammistress the “thread” to make him a magnificent robe, Danny’s own unmelting ice serving to both contain the heat to something that can be worn without frying earth and to show different colors depending on how the angle of the frozen pieces refracted light. He got a full rich guy’s wardrobe of clothes like that and enough leftover material to completely clutter the castle.
(the ghost king’s castle was still Pariah’s, being his haunt originally rather than something that comes with the crown. There’s nothing actually preventing other ghosts from taking his stuff there, but only Danny ever does. The rest are painfully aware that the coffin is bound to eventually be opened and that Pariah will NOT be pleased to have his stuff messed with, Danny though figured that Pariah will be pissed at him regardless of what he does whenever he escapes again, so uses his castle as Danny’s private loot box and storage unit and uses intangibility to draw through the coffin on his face).
Next is the darkness of space, for which he bugged Johnny 13’s shadow into introducing him to some of his fellows. Turns out shadows are symbiotic spiritual entities originated from the Infinite Realms, they attach themselves to more powerful beings and do their bidding in exchange for syphoning their excess ectoplasm output (which also makes them harder to identify as ghosts or determine their real power-level). Danny, as someone on the upper echelons of ghostly power before the King’s power-boost, has no trouble at all in getting a shadow of his own, but rather than having it follow him in the darkness he opts to have it complement his outfit by having it form a cloak for Danny which will split into tentacles and mouths at his command, giving him an appearance of melting gradually out of the shadows and still being partially made out of darkness despite his clothes shining bright enough to turn night into day whenever he goes.
Finally for the face. Initially he was going to go for a mask of some sorts, aptly space themed on some way, but Jazz made another suggestion for him. Instead he brought a magical item in a bazar on the realms which let him put a pretty powerful illusion over his face, so he used it to get what Jazz called “not a deer”. A face that looked human at first glance, too human even as all minor defects were smoothed over for an uncanny effect, but which fell just short of humanity the longer you looked as smiles stretched way past the limits of the mouth, facial expressions lagged and glitched randomly mid-conversation and the eyes were changed from Phantom’s normal green orbs into a slide-show of various pictures of galaxies from a number of different worlds put into an spheric shape and hyperlapse.
Next was his behavior, which was surprisingly easy to make unnerving. Danny trained to be unnervingly still and speak on monotone using formal and overly verbose wording, but also frequently forgot and broke character. Surprisingly that worked out well for his image as it came across as the unfeeling and unnerving Danny was his standard self, but he occasionally tried to use a more emotional mien as someone attempting to pretend humanity with a frankly scary amount of accuracy if one ignored him slipping into a number of expressions and tongues from different ages and cultures (thanks to his missions for CW). All that to say that the one unfortunate guy who successfully summoned Danny walked away with only eye-problems and nightmares while Danny burst out in laugher the second he was alone.
Knowing Danny's luck, those costume and add ons will somehow became a permanent fixture on him.
You know, because belief is a powerful thing and being the Ghost king basically qualifies him as a god.
Danny will not be amused once he learned about the Power of Belief of the people that Constantine Hood wink in Danny's behalf thats slowly changing his ghost form.
Even if did gave him WAY more power as well.

Danny: What the fuck do you wear to a wedding? Let alone your own?
Wes: The same plain black suit you've had in your closet since prom, apparently.
Jason: That's bull. Besides- We're all men, so there's no bride to outshine. Why can't the groom(s) be fabulous?
Danny: What if we like- split up a wedding dress into parts, and all three of us get one piece of it. We have the money for custom tailoring now.
Wes: ...so what, Jason has a bodice instead of a suit top, I wear a veil, and you have a trein instead of coattails?
Danny: ...
Jason: ...
Both(at the same time): I love it.
Reminds me of this non-binary wedding outfit I saw on reddit
DCxDP Dead Tired AU: Gold digger? More like someone struck gold
So this idea came to my head. Danny and Tim are dating, but they try to hide it as best as they can because who knows what the press will do to both of them if it ever gets public.
If Tim is alone, he'll get photo ops occasionally and everyone minds their own business as to not impose. However, when Tim is seen casually talking to someone alone, social media blows up and makes headlines of Tim's new lover or something. Tim's PR team is often seen cleaning up the fake news every time something like this happens.
So there they are. Putting in shady disguises for their public dates. Lots of oversized hoodies to hide, and countless masks and contacts to further fool the public. The public doesn't know yet that Tim is dating someone.
That is until someone spotted Tim with someone ,clearly on a date. Lucky for Danny, the press still don't know who he is, yet.
Speculations rise and people start to think about who is the rich, lucky person who snagged Tim. I mean, it can't be a poor person right? Almost all of Tim's social circles are all upper class and or elites in society, even before he got adopted by Bruce.
Then on one fateful day, they mess up again with Tim calling Danny by his name, and the public hears it. Both try to scram away to prevent further leaking. Danny is lucky his ghost powers deter any pictures taken near his vicinity, and he hides his face with a mask and an oversized hoodie (I have a headcanon that the whole glitchy pictures thing that Danny's ghost powers do is only on phone cameras and low resolution cameras with small image sensors. It doesn't work really well against SLRs and TV cameras)
The public leads an online witch hunt to find Danny's pictures as they can't see his face in pictures taken recently and the press (due to his ghost powers and all).
Eventually they find some of the pictures before the glow up phase of every teen and it's literally the kind of pics you never want to be posted in public because you're so ugly at the time, but your parents post it for memories. Danny's face in his younger years was in the conventionally unattractive side.
More digging comes in and they find that Danny's family isn't one of the elites, and not as rich as the elites Tim's social circle has.
Now headlines blow up and the common one is calling Danny a gold digger by dating Tim. Tim's PR team is a disaster trying to control it. This lasts for days until Tim decides enough is enough. Both of them talk it out and decide it would be the best to be public.
Tim holds a small press conference to clear up all of the rumors. Yes they confirm that the Fentons are not with the elites and are just a happy family that gets by. Tim also tells the public that they're both dating because they love each other. Tim also reveals that he was the one who pursued Danny in the first place and had a hard time winning Danny's heart.
Then, without further ado, Danny is revealed to the public.
Tim: Let me introduce to you, my boyfriend, Danny Fenton.
Danny: *slowly walks near Tim*
Danny: Hi everyone. I'm Danny.
Reporters:
Tim's fans:
Bashers:
Everyone else:
Everyone is stunned, silenced, and surprised at the reveal. Who would've thought that Danny was a really a beautiful, handsome, and hot guy that managed to snag Tim of all people. Everyone at the press conference was enchanted by Danny, so much that the media had a hard time asking questions because they're too distracted looking at Danny the whole time as if they're in a trance.
Danny suddenly becomes an internet sensation. The narrative suddenly shifts. Countless articles are now in favor of Danny. There are articles that say "Is Tim really the best elite for Danny?" , "How did Danny easily accept Tim?" , "5 other popular icons that are a better match up for Danny than Tim."
Danny's social media accounts and its followers from different platforms soar through the sky. Now every time Danny posts something, it's flooded with notifications and all.
Everyone is obsessed. A new fandom is born. Ship wars ensue. Tim's PR team office is on fire. Social media activity soars through the roof. Among all the posts, the most popular is:
"Tim is more of a gold digger than Danny for me. I mean look at Danny. Tim struck gold with this one."
We need a fic for this.
Better yet a fanart just for the presscon scene.
Him-fuckin'-self?! @icalldavidlynchautistic is this the same guy? SHRIMP FAIRY ON MY WINDOW?
This is a Cutiefly from Alola obviously
A wife?
Danny did sign something. While he thought he was signing a contract stating he was going to own a truck, it apparently was a marriage contract. Yup in a clear letter does it states that under the husband was his signature. The question is who the hell was his wife? Timothy Jackson Drake was what he read. Did he get married to a dragon?
Nope, apparently he is completely human. This contract was formed in order to retrieve a soul that has been lost in time. Good for him but bad news for Danny.
Ghosts are known for their emotions and are taken very seriously. Sooner or later his people will find out and demand to meet their queen? Haaa... could he just kidnap the dude? He did basically sold his soul to him. After all Ghost vowels are different from human ones and this contract was drafted based on the husband's custom.
But didn't that mean he doesn't get to do all of the paperwork? This is honestly a bad deal for his queen. Though he holds the title he doesn't get the power that comes with it till he can prove himself in front of their people. Danny really doesn't have the time to tell him about this so a letter will have to do.
"Dear Tim Drake, due to some unfortunate events you are now The Queen of The Infinity Realm. Though you hold this title you are not recognized as The Queen until you can prove you are worthy of such power you can hold. The reason you are Queen is because I King Phantom of The Infinity Realm accepted your purpose. Please note that the book attached will explain all you need to know for the basic. There is another book that goes into more of becoming The Queen if you wish to stand by my side. But if you chose not please note that we are forever tied based on ghost culture. The books should tell you everything you need to know. You should also note that this letter and book can only be read by Timothy Jackson Drake.
Best regards
King Phantom"
There that should do it. It wasn't a well written letter but on such short notice this was good. Now to send it and that will be one less problem for him. After all who would be crazy enough to accept such a deal?
Tim after reading the letter: you sonofabitch I'm in.
Jackson Drake? Yeah, he ain't human. Bruce is sure the man is a meta. Maybe a poor alien in disguise because Bruce knows he's a disaster sometimes but Jack takes the cake.
The Drakes were their neighbors. Archeologists. Famous for bringing rare artifacts home and are the largest donors to the Gotham Museum.
Then the accident happened.
Jackson Drake had a serious fall while getting their latest artifact. A certain ring and crown that belong to an ancient king. He was rushed to the on-site medics and had to be air lifted to the nearest hospital. He had been in a coma for two weeks. A nasty bruise to the head and when he had woken up it was as if he was a different man. The media was all over it. It got worse when the change in attitude resulted in the divorce.
Timothy Drake ends in the custody of Jack Drake. Timothy knows that the man that woke up from the coma is not his father. But the new jack treats him so much better than old jack. The new jack actually listens to Tim. Actually helps him out with homework. Doesn't yell. Doesn't hit Tim. He lets time babble about everything. He even FEEDS Tim. He NEVER leaves him home alone.
Tim knows that the new ring on his father's hand (that he had never taken off since that expedition) is the cause of it. Or maybe it's the floating crown that sometimes appears when new Jack shows him a ‘trick.’ he likes New Jack. He doesn't want New Jack to go away.
Which is why he has to keep Bruce Wayne- (THE batman) away from his new father. The detective would suss new jack out immediately. Because new jack treats Timothy well but he sucks at being human.
It would help… if New Jack would stop calling the Waynes for every minor inconvenience that happened to Timothy that a regular person should know.
Ex.
Jack: tim is sick.
Bruce, handing the phone to Alfred. : any symptoms-
Jack: he's green, but thats normal because im green sometimes. But he's not doing all the things I do when im green-
Alfred: such as…?
Jack: well he hasn't learned to walk through walls yet. And he hasn't gotten ice breath though he is a bit cold. His hair isn't white yet.
Bruce, overhearing this: what-
Alfred: nausea perhaps? Has he eaten anything to make his stomach turn?
Jack: we did have some seafood from that new place by Mr.Freeze
Bruce, louder: W H A T
Alfred, writing down a list of supplies and recipes: we'll be there in a moment.
I, I don't think that makes sense... Danny was born human, grew up weirdly but still is one, and is surrounded by one for the majority of his childhood. I don't think Danny would just forget about being human and basic human knowledge, such as sickness.
Unless, of course, if he has been no longer human for not tens, but hundreds or thousands of years and also has been not interacting with those that knows how to be one, like, newly dead one.
So like, clearly this is a GK! Danny that has been in the Ghost Zone for so long. Or perhaps, a Danny that just like to mess with the bats.
Oh yes, it is absolutely GK Danny. I couldn't expand on this earlier bc I was at work but I am back.
I was kinda leaning more into non cannon territory. Where as there is a ghost king or evidence of one in this au. The Drakes discover some artifacts from his burial. (Its not Danny's, its just a GK. Think of it like every au has one. Like many branches on a tree. They're all connected.)
So Danny, having already outlived his human purpose eons ago, is now a ghost king. He learns there are different ghost kings from different universes. This gk is similar to him and the second jack drake puts on the ring in a moment of stupidity, the ring wakes up. Since Danny was peaking into that universe, it basically sucks him inside jack.
Mind you, jack dies the second the ring is on. Speculation is the fall that happened afterward that killed him, the ring did it.
So Danny, freaks out. Tries to play cool (he cant because he kinda forgot how to be human.) He gets 'home' and sees baby tim (I'm eight!) All alone and tries his best. He somehow wins custody, gets the keep the house, but has to split the money and he's okay about that. He COULD leave, but like, Timmy would be alone. Timmy would be alone in a mansion that's filled with liminal and haunted items the Drakes have dug up.
On another note, Danny does assume Tim is some degree of liminal. Like, this mansion is definitely super haunted. Tim can't see the ghosts, but that doesn't stop him from being scared at certain noises in a big mansion by himself. Danny assumed because the Drakes have documented irregular activity after bringing certain things to Gotham. Surely Timmy would know?
Nope.
So yeah, Danny freaks out the first time tim get sick. He sees tim turning green? Oh his powers are kicking in- nope thats barf. A lot of it. Oh my god why doesn't the Drakes have children ibuprofen?? Moltrin?? This house is empty as hell.
Cue Danny calling the waynes at every major (minor) inconvenience that happens to tim and only tim. Danny can handle burglars just fine. Trespassers? Erased. Tim having a fever? Nope. Put on your coat, sweetie. we're hopping the fence to the Wayne's. He's got two kids, right? Surely he knows what to do.
So Danny finds out Timmy is 100 percent human. Though over the years, Tim does get more and more liminal. Being around Danny will have side effects. They just don't show until Tim's well into his teenage years. By then, Tim has accepted New Jack (Danny) is coming from the ring and crown. Bruce and co only think that Danny is some type of alien struggling to raise his half human (?) son.
okay but that's such a good explanation? and a reasonable thing to think in that world!
Tim's showing some non-human traits, and it increases as he gets older. Jack, this poor man has no idea what to do with humans, but he gets better with Tim as Tim becomes more and more liminal: like Jack! He knows what to do with a liminal! (mostly)
But straight humans obviously confuse him. So, as Tim shows more traits like his father who is obviously inhuman the idea that little Tim is only half human becomes more and more likely.
Adding on to this, because it's fun.
Tim doesn't start showing VISIBLE traits until he's maybe 13 or 14 ish. The first one? Night vision. It comes slowly. It starts when Tim's eyes turn a frosty blue instead of their regular colors. At night his eyes kind of reflect light (similar to predators, ya know.)
Tim does not recognize the build up. However other people do. The first to realise it is Jason during a sleep over. In this AU the waynes and the Drakes are pretty close (even though tim has tried his hardest to keep Bruce away from finding Jack's identity).
So, during a sleepover, Jason and tim are sneaking into the kitchen one night for a midnight snack. Jason opens the fridge, turns to tim, and nearly has a heart attack when he sees Tim's eyes. They're kinda glowing and tim is staring directly at him. It makes Jason's fight or flight. He slams the fridge shut and nearly crushes the yogurt sticks he manages to swipe.
"Jason!" Tim hisses, "we're supposed to be quiet."
Jason blinks. Tim's eyes aren't glowing anymore. He's definitely telling Bruce about this so the man can add it to the list Jason knows is in the batcomputer. "Uh huh, sure tim tam. Is anything new happening?"
Tim, completely oblivious, "no why?"
Also, someone mentioned in the tags about body snatching. I think it a interesting add on. Bruce taking notes of Jack's drastic behavior change and the fact that he has new abilities. Something HAD to have happened between the dig and the hospital. Jack Drake wasn't known to be this wacky guy before the incident. Yet here he is, loud and proud. Taking care and showing off his son. Making generous contributions to Gotham's museums and schools. Even being way more social and taking less trips (though that was recommended by medical professionals to take it easy.)
So the Drakes has started to mingle with the waynes. Danny taking notes for Bruce in how to be a socialite. He takes tim over there to hang out with Jason and Dick while Danny asks for pointers on how to raise tim.
"So when they start growing into their abilities, who do you go to for training?" Danny asks as Dick shows Tim and Jason just how far he can contort his body with an acrobatic show. Danny has only seen the dead move like that.
Bruce, blinking, "Excuse me?"
"Timmy's about to go through it.. I think puberty. I'm not sure who to go to. He's been very clingy, too, and I think it's because of the divorce a while ago. At least that's what I read could be a factor.." Jack frowns. "Tim has been staying up late at night, being grouchy. He had a recent growth spurt as well. Tim's eyes were developing, and that meant it wouldn't be long before the fangs came in. "
Bruce, taking this all in nonchalantly and comparing notes mentally. "I S e e."
Tim is beyond overworked because he's trying to keep his dad's identity a secret. "You are the reason im like this."
I think by the time Damian arrives, Tim's liminal side is in full swing. He needs ectoplasm, not a lot, but it keeps him at peak health. He doesn't make much noise. He doesn’t have footsteps because he's unconsciously floating sometimes. Like just walking on air. Sometimes, he forgets to blink. And sometimes he can stand really still. He has night vision, too. The only thing he can't really do is the hard-core stuff. Like turning invisible, phasing through walls and energy blasts.
Sorry for all the errors BTW this was done on my phone.
Some late night contributions
Dick and Bruce do fight the older Dick gets. Which leads to Jason going over the Drakes whenever their arguing gets too much. This causes Tim and Jason to be close friends early on. Dick also goes over whenever Bruce ticks him off. Jack accepts this. He's getting along with his neighbors! And tim is socializing with people around his age! Bonus points! Dick and Jason are also exposed to all the spooky crap happening in Drake manor. Timmy not batting an eye at the food coming to life. Jason and dick watch as Jack literally flies around the kitchen ceiling, trying to capture flying evil toast.
"So you're dad's an alien?"
Tim, trying hard not to let ppl know Jack is actually possed. Tim who has spent DAYS without sleep curating a new identity for him unless shit hits the fan takes the blessing handed to him.
"Yes. He is. The fall made him forget his human years. We're working in it."
Dick: "cool." *texts Bruce and Alfred that jack is alien confirmed.*
Because Jason and Tim are so close, tim starts to realise when Jason's withdrawing. Tim then asks his dad if he can keep an eye out for Jason with his spooky powers. So when the entire Ethiopia fiasco happens, Jack manages to save Jason. This is also how Jack reveals his ghost king form. Jason gets injured by the Joker, but Jack does save him from the explosion.
Bruce and dick see the form, but their minds can't really comprehend it. (You can put your own description here tbh). Tim (who snuck on the bat plane) can see it because he's been exposed to Danny's ectoplasm so much. When asked for a description later, he lies through his teeth and gives the best description of a warped alien he can.
Jason doesn't die, though he is too injured to be Robin. Tim tries to take the mantle but gets stopped by jack bc 'Jason nearly died and you think im gonna let you go out there untrained!? Hell no!"
I actually had an idea where Danny like, shrinks down and pretends to be robin. Only to keep the sightings up and not let the media question Robin's where abouts.
The other option is , Jack tells Tim he can only be a vigilante after some proper training. Because he's getting memories from when he was vigilante, and he didn't have much help.
So Robin is down for nearly a year and some. Jason decides not to be robin anymore. He makes his own name.
Now tim, coming into his liminal abilities thinks he wouldn't make a good robin. (Im playing with the ages and timeline here) plus its also taking him longer to train because new abilities keep making themselves known
By the time tim is properly trained, it's a few months before Damian has arrived.
Now Damian is another subject in itself. When he gets to the manor he expects Grayson and Todd. There are no files on Drake, however.
Drake is apparently their neighbor that is a regular visitor. Regular enough to spend nights. Regular enough to spend the current summer there while his father is away. Damian classified him as a civilian at first when Grayson told him that tim wasn't a vigilante.
Yet.
Cue Tim giving Damian a run for his money. Bc Damian is a little snot nosed kid and has issues. Tim can sneak up on him. Tim can track him in the dark. Tim doesn't make any noise in the manor. He leaves behind no traces. He's caught all the knives Damian had thrown at him out of the air because tim is used to catching flying stuff from his dad.
Tim, currently at the end of the hallway, eyes glowing lazurus green as he holds one of Damians throwing knives.
He demands to know what pit demon is in the manor. Because this ain't natural. Todd and Grayson only shruggs.
"He's half alien." Grayson informs him. Damian would call bs if he didn't have decorum.
"You get used to it." Todd says. "Just don't let him stay in the kitchen too long. Things will start floating."
I mean, calling Danny Alien isn't technically wrong, he's just also… dead.
Also, imagine the magic adjacent league members' reaction to tim.

Maddie opening front door: Oh, it's you.
Alfred: Hello again, dearie.
Maddie: Ugh, drop the endearment. We are far too old for that.
Alfred: Very well. You seem well. Blossomed from the young maid to a proper lady.
Maddie: And yet, you're still walking around as a butler, looking like not a single day gone by since I last saw you. What, did the Waynes offer you immortality as a bonus for the immoral tasks you love to carry out for them?
Alfred: The Waynes don't do that sort of stuff anymore. Not since Master Bruce took over. He isn't even aware of the old family business.
Maddie: Oh I bet, little Bruce went all squeaky clean after dear old mom and dad took thier forever nap. Right. He's a good little boy.
Alfred: Madeline. I understand that your dismissal from Wayne Manor had been abrupt and that you fell on hard times because of it, but Master Bruce had just witnessed his parents murdered in front of him. He wasnt in the state of mind to control affairs. He wasnt aware of the real Wayne business then or now to begin with. Besides didn't you used to say you wanted out of the business?
Maddie: I wanted out through my own efforts being rewarded with retirement like every other maid before me. Not thrown out at fourteen, scrambling to survive with a skill set only criminals would be interested in.
Alfred: Yes, thats why you took those sharp shooting lessons I painstakingly gave you and use them to...what was it again? Ghost hunt? Or as was it unicorn sighting? Maybe a fun family friendly fairy catching?
Maddie: Fuck you. What do you want Commander Pennyworth? You wouldn't show up to a agent's house, not after all these years and certainly not at one who never got to finish her training before new management laid everyone off.
Alfred: Alright I'll get right to the point. I wish to reinstalled the Wayne Enterprise Secrets and I believe you have children.
Maddie: You-! You can't come to my house and demand my children, you bastard!
Alfred: I fear, Madeline, that I can. Bloodlines forever in service of the Waynes. Was that not the soul oath your great great great great grandmother took? Master Bruce owns you and your children, and I as his second, do as well.
Maddie: F-fine! I'll send you one! Only one! Danny.....Danny will be at Wayne Manor at the end of the month. We get to keep Jazz.
Alfred: Very well. Oh and let Daniel know Master Bruce and anyone in the Manor are not to be aware of his purpose. He's to be a proper Secert, and will be playing the role of my apprentice butler.
Maddie with pure loathing: It will be done. Danny will play his part.
Alfred: Thank you....I'm sorry about this Madeline. I truly am.
Maddie: No you're not.
Alfred smiling sadly: I am. I wouldn't activate the oaths, not after all this time. But we lost Master Jason recently and....I can not allow to lose anymore Waynes. Especially Master Bruce. You know how important his blood is to Gotham.
Maddie: I do, but that doesn't mean you're forgive. I pray for the day you're dragged to hell.
Alfred: Many do. Good day, dearie, may Gotham's darkness be contained.
Maddie: May the Waynes bare the burden and pain. Now fuck off.
What if it was before Danny's accident, maybe while he still had good grades (when we take the good student Danny headcanon), every teacher in Casper High wonder why he is sent away
And to make it more dark/have jazz turn to villainy, let's make Danny having to save a Wayne, the court of owls(coo) see that/he saved them from the coo in the shadows and they take him instead, they turn him into a talon, but Danny's unique biology (that's what also helped turn him into a halfa) makes him stronger gives him more powers and he still has a brain (can think up his own plans), but he stays with the coo cause he also wants away from Alfred and the waynes
Let's say Alfred is even more of a Spartan trainer than Bruce, making Danny hateful of him
-----
Jazz always wanted her brother back, and after getting a bit older started following the news of the Wayne's and becomes angry/dark after noticing that Danny doesn't appear in pictures and texts anymore. There was even an interview of Alfred where journalists ask "what happened to the apprentice butler, where is he?" , Alfred says smth like, yeah he works somewhere else now in another city, so they won't see him anymore, but Jazz had already squeezed out of her mom about the soulbond and that Danny wouldn't be allowed to work for someone else and somewhere else
Then she travels to Gotham (incognito) to find out what happened, she finds out Danny is dead/a talon somehow, maybe she confronts Alfred to ask and he says he is dead (since he didn't want to explain the coo to her), he looked to the ground in apology when he said that and as such missed Jazz look of rage (glowing eyes, the Fenton's still work with ecto afterall, jazz does become liminal), jazz tries to find out secrets, she was trained by her mother and Maddie also told her some secret passages (cave system under the manor), jazz explores finds out about batman = Brucie Wayne and decides, I'll make your life a living hell as a villain
Fantastic.
Though imagine if this is after the accident combined with a good reveal AU.
The accident would basically nullified the soul bind and even if it did take hold by chance, it wouldn't have lasted with how much powerful danny grows every single day to the point of strong arming Ancients to submssion every week or so in the zone.
It would also explain why it was danny that Maddie offered instead of Jazz since the oath does not bind him like it does to Jazz and Maddie.
Now its only a matter of explaining it to danny to get revenge and free maddie and Jazz from the oath since theres no way that danny would aproved of any of his friends and family to some fruitloop who dress as a bat and beet up criminals at night with child soldiers in tow in a form of therapy that only worsen things.
And thats not even touching a GhostKing AU, that won't be pretty for the waynes and everyone involved that aren't a Fenton.
