I'm so sick of every post about education having so many people going "actually school is bad because it forces children to conform to capitalistic standards and (whatever buzzwords that sound leftist and progressive and yet fall in line with the active right wing efforts to push minority students out of education)".
Sorry that you had to drop out of high school. You're like 32 now. You can stop going to every post about education and talking about how evil school is now. I
It's just so crazy to be perpetuating the idea that education is incompatible with disabled children at the same time that republicans are trying to repeal the policies that mandate that schools accommodate and teach disabled children. Like?? Are you stupid???
I think the skeleton key to understanding most tumblr discourse on education is that, when you push past all the buzzwords, theyβre not arguing for increased accessibility, but instead buying into plain old reactionary anti-intellectualism. They act like even valuing education is elitist and classist and ableist and every other -ist that you can think of, and it becomes abundantly clear from interacting with these people that theyβre compensating for their own lack of curiosity about the world, failures, and unwillingness to learn anything or read a book (which is why they do often claim βno one taught me this in school!β about a basic fact and get offended at people who tell them to use the phone theyβre using to look it up). They use disabled students as a shield against their own inadequacy and act like expecting students to do anything they donβt want to do is oppressive because theyβre still mad they had to write a book report in middle school instead of sit and watch movies in class with their friends all day, but kids donβt have the knowledge or life experience to know that of course itβs important to learn reading, writing, critical thinking skills, basic math, etc. or else youβre really going to be at a serious disadvantage in life as an adult. But these people are still mad at their teachers, so they say all of this education is frivolous and a waste of time and smhhhh we shouldnβt be teaching students how to do math, thatβs icky and difficult and itβs oppressive to challenge students in any way, we should be locking these students out of a college education (which is evil and elitist anyway) by not even trying to make math more accessible to them and instead bring back home economics and teach students of color or disabled students how to clean and cookβbecause leaving the hard academic subjects for the middle class white kids doesnβt sound Republican at all, right? π€ͺ
all in all I take a complete disarmament and non-proliferation stance on boyfriends. Do not use them. Do not create them. Dismantle the ones you have and repurpose their material for peaceful civilian use. This is the only way the world can know peace
having feelings that contradict your morals is soooo fucking annnoooooyyyiiingggggg. can the emotions and logic department get on the same page im tired of having to like strangle myself into being a tolerable person
if you sneeze without covering your mouth on public transit then you deserve *pauses to consider my convictions regarding punitive justice* *nods head resolutely* the death penalty

OMGΒ
Things that I knew about: that the mass incarceration of people in the USA , particularly black men, has direct ties to/is an extension of slavery. Things I did not know: this specific shit about Louisiana HOLY FUCK this is evil.
OH MY GOSH????
When activist Sam Sinyangwe was awaiting a meeting with the governorβs office at the Louisiana state capitol building in Baton Rouge, he not
The 13th Amendment provides a loophole that allows for the legality of unpaid prison labor, which is sometimes called "modern-day slavery."
Grew up next to Angola. Itβs much worse than you think
I wonder how many people are imprisoned for weed
Iβm from Mississippi and itβs like this in my home town. Enslaved prisoners clean roadways, pick cotton, everything theyβve done since before slavery was supposedly ended. What they teach in schools is nothing but propaganda.
This is about Sci-Hub. yeah we get it.. gatekeep knowledge and protect the interests of capitalβ¦
Listen, this is serious.
Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, itβs literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while weβre talking about books, if youβve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely donβt go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately theyβre completely free.
Reblogging so you know which sites to totally avoid
Another inside tip from academia: Those papers in really expensive journals that are effectively inaccessible to anyone not in a university network? Depending on the discipline itβs very likely that same paper is on a βpreprintβ server somewhere, with no access restrictions.
Like if you want to read basically any physics, math, or CS paper, arXiv.org will have you covered, because everyone uploads their papers there before submitting to a journal (and generally updates it after peer review). I know all of my papers are on there. This is such common practice that journals have it baked into their licensing agreements that authors retain the right to upload their work to these places.
So the next time you get hit with that paywall, you may not even need sci-hub, just click the arxiv link on google scholar instead.
if for some reason none of this works, the old βsend a email nicely asking for the paper to the authorβ is always a good trick. remember most scientists hate the commercialisation of scientific knowledge
Donβt mind me, just gotta share this with my bf so that he knows what websites to avoid
Many authors of papers are on ResearchGate! You can ask for papers there, if they donβt just post a copy to download. If theyβre associated with a college, you can usually find their email addresses in the department directory, also.
Always reblog.

what do you mean my disability disables my abilities? what the fuck
If you
are desparately insisting that the Holocaust being primarily aimed at Jews is a "normative account" that "needs to be questioned" and was perpetuated solely out of bigotry against other demographics persecuted by the Nazis
You have
the exact same stance on this topic as the Polish far-right
It's bullshit when they do it and it's bullshit when you do it too
βhelpβ is my favorite way to say that something is funny. like hey i laughed at this post can you save me
i wish we were able to talk about women's rights without someone mentioning how much they do or don't want to have sex with them. i don't care if you're a lesbian Stop finding worth in women purely from their perceived attractiveness
"I think women should not be expected to shave for societal respect / to avoid discrimination" "yeahπ€€ i love bush" ok well that's not what we're talking about is it.
i hate how many posts about trans women deserving respect always devolve into "I love girldick" or "trans rights but I don't want to date a trans person" because that's entirely unrelated to the topic at hand. you should not respond to feminism with "YESSS I loveeee you because I see you as nothing but a sex object" you people sound like other men I get stuck talking with that end up saying "free the nipple so I can see boobies in public" and thinking they're feminists. why can't we just respect women regardless of your attraction to them or not. why does it need to be brought up in every conversation regarding their rights
choosing to play oppression olympics isnt just mean and inconsiderate. like I feel when you call ppl out for it theyre like "does it hurt your feelings that I said your privileged?" like no you are actually doing some serious damage to your own cause
like the recent estrogen legislation. estrogen should never be made a controlled substance. everyone should have easy access to gender affirming care, including DIY. but when people try to spread awareness for this serious issue by acting like trans men arent as affected by institutional transphobia, it just becomes an argument about disinformation, because testosterone is ALREADY a controlled substance. I want estrogen to remain an uncontrolled substance because I want to save trans women from the bullshit than trans men have been having to deal with for over 30 years. and then you have a bunch of people arguing about this bullshit with each other while the law just plods on thru the government and everyone loses.
recently I saw a person talking about the recent, tragic murder of Juniper Blessing. but instead of honoring her memory, this person said that trans men dont experience the same danger. and of course that caused people to bring up the also very recent murder of Luca Redbeard. Both these violent hate crimes and murders happened THIS MONTH and it makes me sick that the trans community cant even honor their memories properly because theyre too up their own asses arguing about who has privilege and social power over the other, instead of seeing that we are all living the same fucking nightmare

HOT AUTISTIC ADULTS IN YOUR AREA ARE UNSURE IF YOU WANT TO TALK TO THEM...CLICK HERE TO ESTABLISH CLEAR INTENT
ableism really feels like the lowest common denominator across all groups regardless of their politics. right wingers will call their opponents the r word, their opponents will call them "brain dead" bc they want to use the r word but they have to reskin the term for optics. anyone on any political or social stance can somehow maintain that stance while being ableist. like homophobes and transphobes can be ableist. lgbtq people can be ableist. both racists and anti-racists can be ableist. even self proclaimed anti-fascists can be ableist despite a hatred of disabled people making up a chunk of the basis of fascist ideology. actually no matter what someone says, if they make their point by being ableist they've failed at confronting the universal myth that some people are inherently superior to other people. they just disagree over which group should be the one considered inferior
