But rape doesn’t help anyone except the rapist.  And it just baffles me to this day the way people will excuse rape with, “Well he/she was drunk” or “What was she wearing?” or “He’s a guy though, he probably enjoyed it.”

HIGHLY DISTURBING

So while I disagree with this Activist Mommy character being banned from twitter (as I disagree with anyone’s freedom of speech being infringed especially if it is non-violent) what is HIGHLY disturbing are the comments made under this article. Above are just a few snippets of what’s still spewing in the comment section. To be honest, it gave me a mix of laughter and nauseated chills. A lot of the comments sound almost like straight up quotes from The Handmaid’s Tale. The ignorance and hateful–even violent rhetoric are baffling and appear to signal that such mindsets are only growing. If we’re not careful, we just might devolve into The Handmaid’s Tale.

The money will go to my personal PayPal, and will be used to buy what shelters are in need of (socks, underwear, first aid supplies, food, and water) and other things at my discretion (off the top of my head: gas money to get myself and others to blood banks, gas money to get myself and others to sites where volunteers are needed, wheelchairs, children’s books and school supplies, various gofundmes, the Houston Food Bank, the Corpus Christi Food Bank and JJ Watt’s relief efforts). My rate is about $1 per 100 words. You can request something short or long, but that’s the baseline. Don’t worry if you want something long - Houston will need help after this disaster for years to come, so no matter when I finish it, your donation will facilitate healing for the Gulf Coast region. You can also request that your money be used for a specific thing/not used for a specific thing and I will evaluate those on a case by case basis.
