My exhausted mother told me she's over it and she'd just deal with my aunt's presence for one more day. (I offered to handle the movers alone - again - and she wants me to have more help since my brother is unavailable. I suggested she could make herself scarce if my aunt shows up and she said she doesn't care anymore.)

I then did a frontal assault and called to bombard my aunt with information about the movers squeezing in the bedroom set to get it moved on Saturday if only she can supervise them at the drop off and she went for it.

We are inching forward toward dealing with the rest of the stuff at my dad's house. There is a POD in the driveway (that's a portable storage unit). It is full of furniture. Most of that furniture is either my brother's or will be used by my brother. It also contains a bedroom set that my aunt wants for her daughter. My aunt has been pestering us about getting this bedroom set since last week. She doesn't want it to be stored in the heat. This thing was previously in a garage, in the heat, but now she cares. A lot.

My mother has had it with my aunt. That's context for this: Tomorrow (SATURDAY), we're having movers come out to move the stuff from the POD into a storage unit (POD storage is really expensive so we decided to stop using them). We initially told my aunt that we would pull the bedroom set out of the POD and put it back into the garage and she could come get it on SUNDAY. She agreed to this (there was some back and forth here, but I'm not going to describe it all) but then she said that just she and her husband would ALSO come on SATURDAY.

I was sick of her at that point so I just didn't reply. I tried to convince my mom that we should just power through, get the stuff moved on Saturday, let my aunt be there and then the bedroom set would be gone the next day, when my aunt comes back to move it. My mom did not like this and said she was going to pay the movers to just take the bedroom set to my aunt on SATURDAY and that we can tell my aunt to meet the movers at the drop off point. The purpose of this is that my mom believes that this will keep my aunt from coming to the house on SATURDAY and we just won't have to see her at all. My mom's goal is to not see my aunt.

Now, my aunt is very pushy. She doesn't care about how you want to do something; she cares about how she wants to do it. So my mom thinks she's come up with a good mechanism by which we can avoid having my aunt around tomorrow. I think I'll tell my aunt that we're going to have the movers bring her the bedroom set and my aunt will STILL insist on coming to the house. I suspect she believes she needs to supervise. I suspect she doesn't trust us to deal with the bedroom set in the manner in which she has decided is necessary. She has not said this, but her behavior says this.

So. That's the short version. Here's what I think is going to happen: I will tell my aunt this plan ("We're going to have the movers bring you the bedroom set. Can you meet them? You won't need to come to the house.") and my aunt will still insist on coming over, so then I'm going to have to straight up tell her that she's stressing us out and we would prefer she didn't. And then she can either still insist on coming over (which I don't think my mom understands) or she won't, but either way she's going to be pissed off, and if she still insists on coming over, then my mom is going to be pissed, and at some point this is going to be beyond my ability to manage it all politely, and my cousins will get involved and my brother will be in the mix, so: disaster.
