I'm starting to understand why pre-contact Venezuelan indigenous peoples(at least the ones by the coast) lived in flimsy, easily rebuildable houses and dedicated most of their technology to boats, sailing, inter-Caribbean commerce
During the earthquake, the people who were on boats were fine, the earliest videos we have of the collapsed videos in La Guaira are precisely from dudes in boats, or dudes taking video in those stone anti-tide thingies
