5 i am a disgrace im calling bs on anyone who claims they read ulysses tbh
22 full reads. I have read more, but I just didnât finish them, ex. Dracula and Count of Monte Cristo
Iâve read 13 so far
Iâve read 10
10 complete ones, didnât finish Count of Monte Cristo and Catch-22
23. And I feel like it should be a lot more
22. But if weâre talking ones I started and never finished, itâs 61.
That'd be 78 but feels like it should be 77, on account of Hamlet being oddly listed separately than the complete worksđ¤

Mama Aredhel and little mole son
I pretend to be complex and clever but in reality, nothing has ever made me laugh harder than those bad Chinese subtitles from the bootleg Lord of the Rings DVDs. Tears streaming down my face, core aching, slowly suffocating because Iâm laughing too hard.
also (because one can never have too many of these)
and my personal favorite:
I somehow forgot to add my own favorite, which is this one:
I also appreciate the ones that really change the tone and suggest that the characters openly loathe each otherâŚ
and this one, which gently encourages self-care:
listen you guys forgot some important ones
yaâll forgot the best one
I CANâT BREATHE
this is a treasure that cannot be buried
Had to reblog again because I spent hours searching for this and I finally found it.
DJHSFAJDGHFDJGHFKGHG
Excuse me, but you are excluding some GEMS:
And the greatest of all:
Here are some more:
Love Rainy Weather....
videos that make me feel creature
fucking hate it when the stuff everybody says "actually works" does actually work.
hate exercising and realizing i've let go of a lot of anxiety and anger because i've overturned my fight-or-flight response.
hate eating right and eating enough and eating 3 times a day and realizing i'm less anxious and i have more energy
hate journaling in my stupid notebook with my stupid bic ballpoint and realizing that i've actually started healing about something once i'm able to externalize it
hate forgiving myself hate complimenting myself more often hate treating myself with kindness hate taking a gratitude inventory hate having patience hate talking to myself gently
hate turning my little face up to the sun and taking deep breaths and looking at nature and grounding myself and realizing that i feel less burdened and more hopeful, more actually-here, that i am able to see the good sides of myself more clearly, that i am able to see not only how far i have to grow - but also how much growth i have already done & how much of my life i truly fill with light and laughter and love
horrible horrible horrible. hate it but i'm gonna do it tho
The seething continues.
no stevie nicks, i CANâT sail through the changing ocean tides and i CANâT handle the seasons of my life

Welcome to Neelâs technicolor converted factory home in Melbourne, Australia. A floral mural dresses up the exterior front door, that opens to a rainbow staircase.
Neel relaxes on the mezzanine level, where exposed beams are painted lime green.
âMy whole life is pretty colorful, and I wanted my house to feel like an extension of that,â Neel says. âItâs the social house where people want to congregate and hang out.â
Neelâs portrait mingles with kittens, Darth Vader, and Buzz Lightyear.
One of the first pieces Neel bought for his home, this shell-back chair, was recovered in salvaged fabrics.
Neel stores a variety of colorful glasses in his cotton-candy pink console. Each guest who visits is required to choose the vessel that represents them best.
Elephant trunks make stunning table legs.
âMy colorful aesthetic was elevated when I moved to Australia because wearing colorful clothes looked so much better in bright sunlight,â Neel says.
This interior front door has a cheerful jungle mural.
I wanted her to have curly hair because of my obsession with curly hair,â Neel says of the mural. âI just like the faces. Every morning when I wake up, I look at them and feel very happy with myself.â
Neelâs bevy of antique mirrors, which he bought at Sunday markets and then spray painted in neons and jewel tones, provide a similar level of delight in his bedroom.
Neel channeled 1970s New York bathhouses and Mykonos, Greece nightclubs for his enchanting bathroom.
âOh my God. I took one this morning,â Neel says of his outdoor shower. âJoyful. Absolutely. That has elevated my joy. Nudged it to the next level.â

Having grown up in/around Memphis, this post is 30x funnier
Was thinking you were from Mit Rahina, grew up near the ruins of Memphis... did not get it until learned the united states have a Memphis
I love all my plants dearly, but today's special plants are the variegated hoya pachyclada (who can keep up with what it is actually called now) who has exploded with another lovely peduncle, smells like floral perfume and cleaning supplies....đ; both of my itty bitty baby begonias who bring colour and whimsy into my room; and this hoya pubicalyx of some sort who throws the most gorgeous deep purple leavesđ
Youâre a âđžformer gifted kidâđžand you were reading at a college level in grade 4, but you also think Harry Potter is peak literature and that Fanfiction should be taught in school. Yeah alright
It's not that Fanfiction should be taught in school. Turns out that Fanfiction is creative writing which is a wide field and can help students to express themselves. There are lots of theories about it.
Creative Writing should be taught in school.
It already is. Itâs a class iterally called creative writing
Yes, but in Creative Writing class they are always very strict about not using existing characters/stories. Except MAYBE if they are public domain, but even that gets a little iffy. "What do you think happens after the end of this story?" (Or "What would this story be like if X charged?" Or "What would happen if these same characters were in this totally different setting?" Etc.) can be just as valid a prompt as "write a story based on this picture", but Creative Writing classes don't do that.
To be fair, it's probably to avoid copywrite issues, but there are ways around that (hello "I do not own these characters" statements). Hell, they could make "filing off the serial numbers" part of the unit.
Now why would a creative writing class encourage you to write and create your own stuff. Thatâs just ridiculous.
Nope. They really should encourage fanfic. Start with something a kid is enthusiastic about, and encourage critical engagement and creativity. Use it to relieve the pressure to make something new and great out of nothing (which is off-putting to some and paralyzing to others).
Use, "these characters, but drop them on an alien planet," to practice world-building. Use, "this universe, but a new guy shows up," to practice character development. Use, "start with this story, but fix 3 plot points you don't like," to practice tracking down why something doesn't seem right, and fixing it in place.
Some of y'all are the parent yelling that your kids never read bc you'll only let them read "real" books and make fun of whatever they're into. That's dumb. Let kids like things. Meet them where they are. Refusing to do that is setting them up for failure bc your own ego won't let you "stoop" to the level of teaching in a way that excites and empowers.
And ffs quit acting like fanfic has no value. The worst fic you've ever read was still a great way for the author to flex their writing muscles in a safe and comfortable way, and flexing is literally the only way anyone ever develops skill or confidence. That's good. If you want ppl to write, that's something you should be encouraging. The high-and-mighty bullshit is so old.
These people really need to get off their fucking high horse. i had to literally watch the first HP movie, analyze it, then make a fanfic of it as an actual assignment In first Creative Writing class in college. It takes off the pressure of like having to come up with an actual world yet still engages the needed muscles to start creative writing.
People had been making actual fanfics since time immemorial itâs why so many wildly different tales of King Arthur and Charlemagne and other semi-mythological figures exist, and I am not inclined to believe a random stungle dot blue hell userâs opinion over an actual lecturer who was nothing but supportive of me and so many other studentsâ mental health, has earned his multiple degrees, and actually has a wikipedia article to his name.
I tutor a ten year-old boy who would rather write an informative essay than a short story. He'd stall and stall, make and remake characters, despair over thinking of a plot. I told him to write an adventure for Jack and Annie with their Magic Treehouse, and BAM, he can research something and then put these characters he knows in! He can chart out a plot using a predictable framework! Asked him to imagine what would happen if HE found the Magic Treehouse, and all of a sudden he is branching out from that frame, searching for hidden carvings in the wood, exploring the rest of the tree, getting creative.
We had moved well on to poetry when one week he is SO PROUD to read me his story where Jack and Annie go to Hogwarts. So proud. He made up spells, he chose wands, he wrote a Sorting Hat song. He printed that story out to show his parents who don't speak any English at all, and his teacher at school. He made his own side character in that fanfic, and has been writing ON HIS OWN, UNPROMPTED, a story about a boy who briefly met J&A and searched for his own magic adventure.
Starting with the framework of fanfiction is a perfect way for kids to ease into creative writing without getting overwhelmed with âhow to start making stuff up out of nowhere??â.
Evil Communist Big Bird be like:
Evil Communist Big Bird hunting antivaxxers for sport
I was waiting for this to happen and antivaxxers didnât disappoint.
Plus, Big Bird promoted vaccinations, in the 70s and 80s.
I laughed so heartily that I had to explain this post to my two nearest coworkers, one with his little ccp button pinned to his shirtđ They did not comprehend. Both were boggled that antivaxxers exist, also bemused by the fact that ccp conspiracy is even A Thing That Exists. Revolution starts with the letter Rđđđ

I have.... Not a few hoya plantsđ This is fifteen out of thirty six (probably)
I LIKE slow-growing plants, I have a small home and not a lot of shelf space! Unfortunately my hoya collection have other ideas and grow like they are being paid for itđ
I blame the turtle-provided fertilizer and lack of any discernable winter in this climate.
