Okay I'll admit it I've been thinking about @paraparasect's OC Mercouris again. He just grips me somehow. And I was thinking about his story re-emerging into the Origin system after his secret complex beneath the surface of Io was uncovered... and so I wanted to look up a picture of Io to maybe make a mission map of it and-

BRUH THIS BITCH LOOK LIKE MOLDY CHEESE. THIS BITCH LOOK LIKE A CLOSE-UP OF A SKIN CONDITION. THIS MOON SO UGLY IT LOOKS LIKE IT SHOULD BE THROWN AWAY.

But then when you stare at it long enough it starts to look like an old, well-worn and heavily stained paint palette.

And then you think actually yeah that is where the universes most up-his-own-ass artist would live. On the world of dried paint. The world of cracks and dimples and smudges. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder type shit.

Also Io is apparently "the most volcanically active world in the solar system" which would make building a massive subterranean complex there a bit of a bitch but then you remember the Orokin terraformers turned Venus - the second hottest planet - into a snowball and Uranus -a gas giant - into an OCEAN with a ROCKY BOTTOM so fuck it, they probably turned Io into a really nice place. Fuck, for all we know it has oceans and grass now.
