I should probably let people know that yes I am still alive and checking things out here but my brain can only concentrate on like one or two apps at a time and I've been hanging out mostly on BlueSky and Discord.
Woops.
still living with my parents as an adult is just like. i'm grateful to not have to pay for groceries. i have to get out of here. i'm grateful to have a roof over my head and not have to pay rent. i have to get out of here. i'm grateful to not have to worry about sending out endless job applications that all lead to nowhere. i have to get out of here. i'm grateful i'm grateful i'm so fucking grateful. i have to get out of here
One post about the Good Omens finale and then I'm out.
Disclaimer: Fuck Neil. Always.
Did I enjoy the finale? I believe it had its moments, I liked some scenes and characters that got a laugh out of me. It's always a delight to see David and Michael play off each other and they truly have such a wonderful chemistry. But, honestly, I think the ending undoes a lot of what really makes Good Omens what it is.
This isn't about shipping. This isn't about Aziracrow or whether they should have kissed.
It's about humanity.
At its core, Good Omens, both the book and the show, is about humanity, humans being fundamentally human in a world where we are all just trying to get by. The first season recognized this, that there was something about humanity that ensnared two metaphysical beings to the point where they would do anything to protect it. Where we saw humans rising above fate and destiny and carving out their own paths despite what was written.
Season 2 had elements of this, not as much due to the more divine heavy plot, but humans were still a part of the story.
In Season 3, humanity felt utterly inconsequential. We practically had no human influence, the Jesus subplot went absolutely nowhere, and Crowley and Aziraphale didn't even engage with humans other than the absolutely unnecessary mafia subplot. They were still out to protect humanity, but it felt like there was nothing really tying them to the world anymore.
What really got me were those last ten minutes, the old sit down with God and deciding to chuck this universe in the bin so that they can make a new one without divinity or gods or angels or demons. The thing is.....Aziraphale and Crowley choosing to do away with this world is taking a page out of God's own book: they didn't give humanity a choice. There was no counseling of what was truly best for humanity from a human's point of view. They were doing EXACTLY what they were calling out God for: giving humans no free will with their own world.
The humanity they fought so hard to protect is gone, and they are willing to be done with it. They LOVED this world, they made CONNECTIONS in this world, and oh well, we can just make a new one that we won't even see to prove if humanity is actually better off.
I was waiting for them to bring Jesus back. To have him be the deciding factor as he is literally God made human. Wouldn't HE be the ideal human representative? Since he saw humanity recently, saw that he could STILL do good and be a positive influence, wouldn't that make a case for a world worth saving if given the right direction?
But no. New world, new people that we don't even know, not even the satisfaction of knowing if anyone's lives are TRULY better.
Thoughts are still jumbly in my mind, but that's where they are now, and why the ending left me unsatisfied. Make of it what you will.
For anybody not caught up: Tennessee just passed a new map that pretty much makes it so black neighborhoods have no power in local votes. Two things about this. While protestors were chanting "No Jim Crow", white Tennessee lawmakers were caught laughing on video. On top of this, Representative Justin Pearson and his brother KeShaun Pearson were arrested for trying to give their takes on the matter (which is not only their legal right but literally his job). If you give a shit about black people, help fight this. We can't allow a return to Jim Crow.
Heyyy guess where I live
A local paper had some great photographs, all taken by Nicole Hester:
The day before, Rep. Justin Pearson tries to attend a Senate Committee meeting and is barred access by the Sergeant at Arms.
Lawmakers and protesters link arms as the descend the capitol steps.
Once inside the chamber, Democratic representatives continued to stand together with arms linked.
They continued standing together with arms linked as votes were cast.
Democratic representatives take a group photo protesting the redistricting.
Rep. Justin Jones burns a photo of the Confederate flag with the words, We will not go back.
And stomps the ashes.
KeShaun Pearson being escorted from the building by the Staties.
KeShaun Pearson (left) being taken into custody. Rep. Justin Pearson (right) showing his support of his brother.
Additional information: State lawmakers have been gunning for Pearson and Jones nearly their entire terms. Most notably, in 2023, the House expelled them for participating in a protest at the Capitol. Their districts had to have special elections to have them reinstated.
Pearson is one of the plaintiffs of a lawsuit seeking an injunction against the redistricting.
The city most affected by the redistricting is Memphis, where locals are fighting against xAI's data center, which has been operating with very little oversight and is poisoning the people who live there. Here is a previous post on that with more information and more sources.

The only way forward is to stop treating masculinity as synonymous with harmful, monstrous, or dangerous.
There is a fundamental difference between "men are dangerous" (wrong, bioessentialist) and "the patriarchy allows dangerous men to exist unchecked" (true).
âGoonbaitâ and itâs just photos of teenage girls and women in their early 20s smiling and being happy because theyâve each just accomplished one of the biggest moments of their respective careers
Itâs not even because her style is alternative or whatever bc they were saying the same thing about the other girls above itâs literally just that young women canât be seen by these people as anything but a vessel for their sexual desire to the point that they canât even see a 20 year old make a silly face while smiling during one of the happiest moments of her life without being like she is clearly doing all this just to make me horny.
also i dont think it's a coincidence that they're doing this to young Asian women

Finally emerging from hiatus, I bring the twins, Calanthe and Taran Greylock.
.
Calanthe Greylock - Defiant Optimist
Acquaintances would describe Calanthe as outgoing, playful, and trusting to a fault. As a Runechild Sorcerer, she lives at risk of discovery and exploitation. She is not blind to this reality, but rather than hardening her heart with suspicion, she would rather approach the world as a friend, cherish new experiences, and take the inevitable lumps as they come. A sunshine personality underpinned by a live fast, die young mentality. She has more or less outsourced her survival instinct to her twin, Taran.
.
Taran Greylock - Gothic Aesthete
Taran, the gloomy but caring twin to Calanthe, is a bard fascinated by the darkly beautiful aspects of life. He is loyal to the ones he holds dear, especially his sister, whom he has sworn to protect. His music is atmospheric-- best described as medieval darkwave. He generally plays things safe, but knows when to thrust himself into action when needed.
Taran belongs to @readingrobin Thanks for writing up his bio and thanks for commissioning me! âĄ
