Nobody seems inclined to shut the fuck up on their own so I made this handy graphic that I might just start rudely appending to my random life update posts. Everyone feel free to use it on your own posts.
Image id: a long bullet-point list, mostly in plain text except the first and last lines which are large and rainbow colored.
Rainbow text: STOP giving me life advice!
Regular text on all the following lines, until noted otherwise:
- I didn't fucking ask.
- I don't know you. I have no reason to think that you know what you're talking about.
- Your advice is stupid and it makes you look stupid.
- A two sentence facetious tumblr post does not give you enough context about my life to offer advice.
- I didn't fucking ask.
- I don't know you and you don't know what you're talking about.
- If your smug little off-the-cuff response took you less than five minutes to think of, I guarantee I've already tried it or it doesn't apply to my situation.
- Because you don't know what you're talking about.
- And I'm not a fucking idiot.
- Your advice sure makes you look like a fucking idiot though.
- It's bad advice. That I didn't ask for.
- It's stupid advice and it makes you look stupid.
- Seriously, just think for like five seconds. About how conceited and self-aggrandising you're being. And how stupid you clearly must think I am.
- When you assume that your thirty seconds musing on a situation you know nothing about is somehow valuable to me.
- Because clearly I'm too much of a fucking idiot to think of something that obvious by myself. Good thing I have your genius take to remind me that thrift shops or food pantries or farmer's markets or Etsy or whatever the fuck you're recommending exists.
- Good thing I have you dipshits to tell me how to grow a garden or cook a soup or use up my lemons or eggs or choose birthday presents.
- Too bad I didn't fucking ask.
- I've been polite about your stupid fucking ideas for years and my patience is running thin. I'm about to start blocking you motherfuckers.
#thank you op#found out a few months ago I have a rare disability#which explains why I’ve tried every possible bit of advice and none of it worked even a little#and getting told to try -insert most basic generic possible solution- every time I talk about it makes me want to do a violence#this is such a great way of expressing why that’s frustrating
People who give disabled people "obvious" or "simple" life advice should have to hand them five dollars with the advice. Yes every time.

Life Sized Book Rocky Plushie Guide/Walkthrough Part 1 - Main Body
So I made a life sized Rocky plush and I thought I'll post a walkthrough/guide to how I made him!
The specific sizes listed are suggested, I based them off of Rocky's description in the book to make him as size accurate as I can, but you can definitely make him even bigger or smaller. So feel free to adjust the sizes as needed! :D
Part 2 is not out yet and will be about his shirt. I will update this post the moment its available with a link to it.
Now without further ado, let's get into the guide!
Colour Coding:
- book canon used
- personal choice
- mathematical conclusion
Materials Needed:
- Sewing machine (to save time but you can just sew it all by hand)
- Thread and needle for sewing by hand (I used an embroidery needle and thread because of the fabric I used)
- about 2 meters of fabric of your choosing (if using my measurements)
- Plush stuffing
Measurements Used:
NOTE: when cutting the fabric, leave a 1-2cm margin for sewing
Top Main Carapace (1x):
- Pentagon shape
- 40cm widest point (Rocky is 45cm wide in the book but due to the stuffing, his top carapace needs to be a bit smaller)
- 25cm sides
Sides Main Carapace (5x):
- Trapezoid shape
- 25cm upper side attaching to the Top fabric (same length as the sides of the top fabric)
- 13,5cm lower side attaching to the bottom fabric
- 22cm Height (Rocky's carapace is around 22cm tall in the book)
Bottom Main Carapace (1x):
- Pentagon shape
- 22cm widest point
- 13,5cm sides (same length as the lower side of the Sides Main Carapace)
Top Vent (1x):
- Pentagon shape
- 16cm widest point (2.5 times smaller than the widest point of the top main carapace)
- 10cm sides (2.5. times smaller than the sides of the top main carapace and 4 times smaller than the widest part of the widest point of the top main carapace)
Vent Sides (5x):
- Rectangle shape
- 10cm long side (same length as sides of top vent)
- 3cm short side
Upper Arm (10x):
- Rectangle shape
- 20.5cm long side (whole leg is 50.5cm, because Rocky is described to be around the same height as a labrador, which get around 50cm tall, split the legs up however you like)
- 12.5cm short side (I made the diameter of the leg 8cm, and since the leg is basically a tube, the fabric has to be cut to the circumference of the "circle", so you have to calculate the circumference based on the diameter you choose for your arms and then divide it by two and use that for the short side. Also, the circumference is equal to the upper side of main carapace side piece. :D)
Lower Arm (10x):
- Trapezoid shape
- 30cm Height (because the whole leg is 50.5cm long)
- 12.5cm upper side (same length as the short side of the upper arm)
- 9.5cm lower side (more math! :D since his lower arm narrows towards his foot, I chose a smaller diameter for the lower side. This diameter will also be the diameter of the middle of the foot. Calculate it as seen above.)
Foot (10x):
- 9,5 length of claw from middle of foot (same length as lower side of the lower arm)
And that's it for the patterns!! :D
Now that we got the math out of the way, let's get sewing B)
Sewing Main Carapace:
Sew the Top, Sides and Bottom of the Main Carapace together. I used a sewing machine for this.
Don't connect the sides together yet and only connect the bottom to one side for now. It'll make the next steps easier (I didn't do that Dx don't make the same mistakes I made)
Sewing Vent and Connecting It:
Sew the Vent sides to the Main Vent (We will sew them together soon)
But first, embroidery!
I just used a pen to mark the spots and made them a tear drop shape around 2cm away from the edges. Any shape works really.
Close up it might look a bit messy (didn't use an embroidery frame cause the fabric was too thick) but from further away its barely noticeable.
Next up, sew all the side together! (this part I sewed by hand)
And then go back to the main Carapace and cut a hole in the middle of the top carapace fabric around the same size as the Vent.
And sew it onto the main carapace (ignore the leg already being sewn in the image, it made things a bit harder to sew and could have been done later)
(I sewed the Vent to the carapace by hand)
Sewing Legs:
Cut a hole into half of the feet fabrics and pair them up together with the "non-holed" ones.
Then, sew the feet, upper arms and lower arms together in pairs so that the feet create a sort of pillow and the "arms" a tube each. (I sewed those with a sewing machine)
Stuff the feet with plush stuffing before sewing both parts of the arm to them.
Personally I stuffed the segments as I sewed them together by hand.
Connecting the Legs and Finishing up the Plushie:
Line up one of the legs with two wall sides of the carapace so that the leg is at the top of seam. Then sew it together so that the seam of the leg is also on the inside of the plushie. Do that for all sides until the "walls" are closed off. (from here I sewed every by hand)
Flip Rocky over and stuff him with plush stuffing to your liking. If you want to make the shirt for him (which will be the part 2 to this post) you might need to understuff him for now, so that he manages to slip into the shirt without any issues.
Afterwards sew up the bottom to the sides and BOOM!
YOU HAVE YOURSELF A BOOK ROCKY!
If you have any questions about the progress feel free to send the questions into the comments, my inbox or in my DMs. I will do my best to answer all the questions as best I can and add anything I might have missed! ^^

tbh the first step of recovery is to stop feeling kind of proud about how fucked up you are. your martyr complex is not an endearing quirk it’s the fatal flaw that makes your friends feel like garbage and will sabotage your whole life.

[ID: A Project Hail Mary illustration. The artwork consists of a 5x7 grid, with smaller illustrations inside the squares. The smaller illustrations include: the xenonite Tau Ceti system; the Hail Mary drawn across three blocks; Grace’s bicycle helmet; Adrian’s green auroras; the Blip-C capsule; the crocheted Earth; the small xenonite figure; Rocky drawn across three blocks; the Petrova Line; the rainbow from Grace’s blanket; the shoreline on Erid; the Taumoeba collector; the green Skittles pack; and Astrophage as seen through a microscope. The squares differ in background colors. There are “empty” squares that reveal Grace on a red-orange background from beneath the small illustrations, only his side profile visible. He’s smiling softly. The overall artwork has an off-white background. The text above the grid reads “PROJECT HAIL MARY” and the text below it reads “LIFE IS REASON.” There are stars at each corner of the artwork. END ID]
