A few months ago, retail and fast food workers were told we didn’t “deserve” a living wage because it wasn’t a real job. It was supposed to be a stepping stone for something bigger! It’s a teenager’s job! It’s unskilled labor!

Fuck everyone who said that shit. 

We are expected to continue to work in crowded buildings, specifically exempted from “less than 10 people” etc. We are exempt from shelter in place and lockdown orders.

We are expected to continue to be nice to the people screaming at us because we can’t keep things stocked. 

We are expected to not complain that we can’t shop for ourselves and our families because panic buyers are snatching it all up and we have nothing to get when we’re done working. 

“Oh here’s $150 one time bonus for part timers to show our appreciation” says the man who made $11 MILLION last year and laid off 3000 employees, some of who were only a few years from retirement. 

“Oh here’s a temporary bump of a few dollars” says the company that makes billions. 

Right now, if all the grocery store employees refused to work, there would be chaos. 

We are suddenly considered “essential” yet still making minimum wage with no healthcare in a lot of places. 

We have to be in huge crowds of people who we don’t know if they’re infected.

Everyone involved with TMA, especially Jonny, has been very clear that this isn't a story that has a happy ending, and it can be frustrating when it looks like people aren't hearing that. I know Jonny feels a lot of trepidation about how people will respond to season 5.

Part of that is obviously normal, but part is because it's clear that some people will struggle with seeing characters they connect with suffer. But TMA is explicitly a horror and tragedy show. If that'll really negatively impact your wellbeing, that's a sign to step back.

1. Fans, please take care of your own emotional wellbeing. Remember, it’s just a show. Remember to take a step back if necessary. Talk to your friends, put things in perspective. The characters are fictional, and we already know it will end badly for at least some of them. It’s fine to be emotionally invested and to care, but don’t let it hurt you for real.
