no i don't. cheers
anatomy of a humiliation
Always tough seeing how rampant polyphobia still is online with the same hateful talking points as any queerphobia. People openly and snarkily celebrating someone grieving a break up in a poly or open relationship because they’re “bound to fail” and “hopefully you learned your lesson” (as if every queer relationship hasn’t faced this exact scrutiny in the past. “See, this gay couple broke up. Yet another example of why homosexuality is destined to fail because it’s unnatural.”).
But then I remember how everyone IRL I’ve trusted to talk to about my poly relationship has either been immediately accepting of it or been really curious and asked me to explain how it works. And when I do, they go, “Huh. I don’t get it but it sounds like it works for you.” The best response was when Tulli explained navigating jealousy and compersion to an older, married person and they went, “Wow, I wish I heard this stuff when I was younger.” It’s a good reminder that in real life people suck less and have more stakes and motivation to show basic human empathy. Harder to be a random dickhead when you can’t just say something shitty to a stranger and run away scot-free.
It really says something that a lot of monogamous people consider polyamorous and aromantic to be "opposites" but every polyam person I know took one look at aromantics and said "they're just like me for real"
Poly folks x aro folks in the sense that "alloromantic heterosexual monogamous people view love and sex as an entirely different entity than me, and that makes life kinda strange"
official aro-polyam solidarity post
Might’ve already reblogged this but it needs to be said again

Please return us to a world where Notp and squick are used for a ship you don’t like instead of just making up a load of bullshit about how immoral it is or w/e lol
a short selection of concepts and phrases that used to be commonplace in fandom and we’d really benefit from making that a thing again:
NOTP: the opposite of an OTP (One True Pairing). It is a ship a fan strongly dislikes. The word is a portmanteau of ‘no’ and ‘OTP’ and thus is not a contraction of any particular phrase.
Squick: anything that is a deep-seated, visceral turn-off. Squicks may be shared by many fans or be specific to one; one person’s kink may be another person’s squick.
YKINMKATO, or kink-tomato: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And That’s Okay: used to indicate support for fannish diversity and to distinguish between disapproval or kink shaming and simply having different taste.
DLDR: Don’t Like, Don’t Read: a phrase used to warn against complaints about an aspect of fic or meta. A “live and let live” philosophy of fandom, which places the responsability for avoiding content one doesn’t want to see on the side of the fanwork consumer, rather that on the creator’s.
SALS: Ship And Let Ship: similar to the above specifically about shipping tastes.
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary: a phrase used to acknowledge that any given individual’s personal opinion on the topic at hand may differ due to their own tastes, standards, values, experiences, etc.
As the OP points out, all of these crucially imply no moral judgment of what they’re designing.
(definitions lifted more or less wholesale from fanlore’s relevant pages)
bring the healthy fun back to fandom!
Games from older consoles are being made less and less available to the point so much of the industry's history could easily vanish without
Preserving classic videogames from consoles past.
I'm just gonna slide this on in here for anyone that is interested in preserving old games. They take it very seriously too, they want an archive of every single game. Like, they have lists of every game ever released for a system, and once that system gets old enough, they add it to their archive and start collecting. Their latest addition was the Xbox 360, they opened that vault up in September 2022, and proudly announced they'd finished their collection of games for it back in April.
Also, while their game archives are almost entirely complete, they've got another project of archiving the manuals that came with those games, and that is... considerably less well filled out. Their collection of Xbox 360 manuals is especially rough, they've only gotten manuals for three games. So if you've got some Xbox 360 games kicking around, and the manual's still with them, please consider scanning them and submitting them to the site!
Game preservation is important, but people rarely consider preserving the manuals as well; I really respect Vimm's Lair for being so thorough in their archival work.
I've been using Vimm's Lair for years, I have yet to see a single bad link or virus on the entire site. It's arguably the safest and most comprehensive archive of video games in existence. Preserved history
One of my favorite things about What Happens Next as a comic is how it shows that the internet is not a space that is completely unrelated to "real life". Oftentimes, you'll see the exact belief systems and what is considered taboo in our society get recreated on the internet. The same social structures exist on the internet, even if the posters try to hide their conservative beliefs by using more progressive language when it comes to these topics. On top of this, these harassment campaigns can and often will also bleed onto the person's lives outside of the internet, tangibly infecting the "real" world instead of strictly being regulated to online drama that they have to begrudgingly deal with daily.
Milo and vikki lose friends over the harassment, get into uncomfortable conversations with their families over the stalking, and both of them having to eventually leave their homes over the escalations of the abuse being hurled against them. These are not actions taken out of a genuine desire to make someone take responsibility for their actions. These are actions taken to push someone into killing themselves, an attempted social murder of their lives boardcast to dozens of people for their own amusement.
Even down to who had a worse outcome from this harassment is similar to who experiences it worse in actual harassment campaigns! Despite the worst things Vikki had done in the comic being debating on if necrophila could ever be consensual and taking advantage of a real life criminal case compared to Milo helping a MURDERER, SHE is the one who gets the cops raiding her house! She is the one gets more heavily harassed by the reactionaries in this comic, the one who is implicated of being a fucking pedophile when there is no proof of anything like that ever happening!
Why does this happen to Vikki and not to Milo, you may ask? Why do these two trans individuals not get the same level of backlash for their relative actions in the comic? It is because Vikki is a brown woman compared to Milo being a white man!
It does not matter that both of these two characters are trans, are "faggots in the eyes of the state" to the reactionaries, because what Vikki is as a person is more of a transgression against patriarchy and to whiter supremacy than what Milo is as a person! To these fascists, Milo, as a transgender man, simply just degraded his status as a pure, white girl by transitioning into a man, while Vikki was always doomed to be beyond redemption, more closer to animal than to a human in their eyes because of her race and transwomanhood!
Just. Ugh. This comic is so good, I'm greatful it was ever written.
i surmised lodi’s birthday the other day and oomf had this vision so i drew it

"There's no platonic explanation for this" <-you need to be nicer to your friends. Right now
The headcanon that Ryland Grace is aroace is so important to me. Because the respresentation of his relationship with Rocky being the most important relationship in his life is SO meaningful.
Like that’s just his buddy. His little guy. A friend, and that’s ENOUGH for him. It’s the most meaningful relationship he has and will have and he’s perfectly content with it

all the rights that come with marriage you should be able to have without marriage btw. you should be able to designate a person who can visit you in the hospital regardless of your relationship to that person.
so many people ive known have pushed themselves to burnout trying to deny their disabled reality, skipping accommodations, skipping rests etc. and the world convinces them that the solution to their burnout is to push even harder. it’s a huge tragedy. i know social pressures make it tough but i want more disabled people to make things easier for themselves where possible, to opt out of things that harm them when possible, to quit while they’re ahead. be that person today! protect yourself where you can! take micro breaks while doing your hobby. get that shower chair. sit to brush your teeth. lie down in the middle of the day, even if only for 5 mins. these things add up and it’s so worth it.
happy disability pride month! ACCOMMODATE YOURSELF TODAY!
