the upside of ADHD is that it makes you a fucking genius
the downside is that you don't get to decide when and for how long you're a genius.
Or what you are going to be a genius about.
You have a big work project?
Nah. You're now a genius at making boardgames. For 7 hours.

same this shit rocks
this is genuinely one of my favorite videos
I want to learn more exclamations that aren’t strictly just religious stuff. “Jesus Christ” this, “oh my god” that, nah I want something fresh.
What are some of y’all’s favorite exclamations that aren’t about god?
first submission and we're already off to a fantastic start. absolutely love this one thank you
ok its time for the challenge round now we want nominations that arent about sex either actually
had a friend who used to make new ones up on the spot. The only one that stuck with me was 'good golly jelly beans'. If something catastrophic happens I go for 'that's not ideal.'
@chekhovs-tantrum
Absolutely not letting you leave these in the tags.
I'm gonna be so honest it's WILD that advertising teams haven't figured out by now that using AI to make ads for their product just tells consumers that their product isn't good enough to film the actual usage of
what if a fish could blog
after a couple hours chopping dried sea urchins into tiny pieces with a razor blade you start referring to the razor blade as yourself in your thoughts. a little while afterwards you'll inevitably think something along the lines of "i'm getting a bit dull, i'm going to have to throw myself out & get myself a new self" at which point your internal monologue has pretty much returned to baseline
This happens with mobility aids too. I bump into shit with my forearm crutches and say "ow" before I realize those are not, in fact, More Legs. Then when I get up and try to walk without them for a second there's a moment of feeling like a dog walking upright
part of why you're not supposed to touch peoples mobility aids without permission is because you might damage something, but another reason is this! it either feels uncomfortable physically or oddly intimate

a lot of stuff happened but i'm choosing to remember 2025 as the year i found out people with green eyes exist irl
couple things:
yes i spent my entire life until a few months ago assuming green eyes were an urban legend
"what about all the fictional characters with green eyes" thought it was a trope like with anime protagonists having naturally purple hair
i found out by watching Desperate Housewives (one of the actors has green eyes and it threw me off)
(i had never watched Desperate Housewives until that point bc i assumed it was reality tv, of the same genre as Real Housewives Of Metropolitan Areas franchise)
i still haven't seen green eyes irl, i am simply aware now that they actually exist
"have you really never met a person with green eyes." i didn't say that. it's possible I've met dozens. my autistic ass has spent decades elevating eye contact avoidance to a sublime art form.
did more research and now I'm sort of leaning back to my original stance that green eyes don't actually exist? people say "green" but all i'm seeing is eyes that are blue-and-brown. can i get some example photos so i know what we're talking about???
I assume this is what people think of when they imagine green eyes. Whether they look green or not is mostly a lighting thing from what I've seen. I have gray eyes that can look green in the right light.
Green eyes are also the rarest eye color period, so I don't actually blame you for not knowing they existed at all.
these are just blue with brown/yellow mixed in? i have those type of eyes, i assume they're pretty common. definitely less rare than people with 100% blue eyes with no mix-ins
blue with yellow mixed in
and what do you get when you mix blue and yellow
ok listen
And this is how OP learned that they have green eyes. Incredible stuff.
THEY ARE BLUE AND YELLOW, TWO SEPARATE COLORS, YELLOW AND BLUE SEPARATELY
I think a couple of those up there are actually considered hazel (green eyes are fairly uniform in color, hazel have the ring of brown around the pupil)
They're usually a pretty pale, neutral green, but they're definitely green
Golden Age sidekick backstory: Well I'll be chuffed, that Dickensian orphan boy I watched bravely stand up to his bullies on the street corner has stowed away in my Marmot-mobile, and now he's seen my secret identity! I suppose I'll keep him as an ambiguous pet of sorts. Here child, put on these tights. You are now MarmoLad.
Modern Age sidekick backstory: Remember your high school sweetheart from that one flashback adventure in 1973? Well she's dead so you don't have to worry about it, but guess what: the one time you did it, she ended up pregnant and didn't tell you. The baby was raised by a shadowy conspiracy of your most marketable villains, who kept them in a hyperloop bubblespace so they grew up super fast while also going through unspeakable torture and being raised to hate you. It's okay though after one appropriately dramatic fight you hug it out and the new Marmolad is instantly born.

#what happened to Marmolad II tho
@archhaven @dykeseyelmao
Marmolad II was the result of a very unfortunate early 2000s continuity reboot, where they decided his name was actually Marmalade and he was orange-preserve themed. They retconned him out of existence five years after he was introduced. The fandom doesn't like to talk about it.
relating to the post nut clarity drop thing. you specifically said "forgive yourself", what i dont get is, why would you have to forgive yourself if you didnt anything wrong?
That's my point - forgive yourself for what you're feeling guilty for when you drop, you didn't do anything wrong. But let's follow that train of thought based on how I think you've interpreted my use of "forgiveness" here, because I feel like it's worth talking about.
A drop can make you feel like you DID do something wrong, and that can be at conflict with your usual logic when you're having a drop. Even if you KNOW you didn't do anything wrong, you might not FEEL that way in the moment. In the moment, it can be more effective for some people to indulge the need - if your mind needs to be forgiven for guilt or shame, then forgive yourself. The rational part can come when your head is rational.
I used to drop pretty often just on my own and I struggled a lot with shame and anxiety and feeling like I'd just done something wrong. I was still a very sex positive person and knew perfectly well that what I enjoyed was perfectly fine and even common. But a drop is chemical, it isn't always rational. Trying to logic it away didn't always help. Giving myself some grace helped me more than trying to rationalize the feeling - knowing I didn't do anything wrong wasn't effective until AFTER I'd already done the aftercare necessary to get myself out of that bad headspace. Drop care is damage control. Solving my tendency to drop came from a lot of introspection and logical arguments with myself that I could only do AFTER I was out of the drop and I could trust my own feelings again.
It's also worth noting that aftercare needs are individual. Many people do benefit from logic in the moment. But not everybody. If the specific wording "forgive yourself" is going to make things worse, don't do it.
going wild thinking about the use of Rocky Road to Dublin in Sinners. It’s a really tight microcosm of a lot of the film’s themes just by itself. Credentials: I’m a retired Irish dancer, I went to worlds and the whole bit. My family is appalachian and I grew up on bluegrass
It’s played on a banjo, an instrument with origins in West Africa formally invented in the US by enslaved people (and then popularized in Irish music through Irish American immigrants, largely in the South and Appalachia). Even the instrument telegraphs an attempt at cultural exchange morphing into theft and exploitation, especially because the history of the banjo has been purposefully obscured by white people
It’s got a strong down beat, making it the musical opposite of the swung blues sound (emphasis on 1/3 as opposed to 2/4). The scene is clearly meant to evoke klan imagery, and giving it this marching feel ABSOLUTELY contributes
It’s in 9/8 meter (with some mixed—it’s a uniquely weird song), making it, traditionally, a slip jig. Historically, this is a light shoe dance for women only (he’s dancing hard shoe in the movie) meaning that Remmick’s attempt to reclaim his own culture has been botched, obscured, and lost as he’s been alienated from it and co-opted into the symbolic hive of American whiteness/cultural orphanage/cultural patricide.
The song itself is about a guy cutting a shillelagh (a walking stick/club with a folkloric purpose of warding off evil spirits) to protect himself on his journey to Dublin, but winding up using it against a few Englishmen mocking him for his Irish accent. It’s a parallel to exactly what Remmick was not able to do—protect himself from monsters, and protect himself from colonization. It also highlights that this number is being used to threaten violence against the leads
It’s such a clever combination of inverting swing/jazz sounds and showing ways Remmick is missing the point. Since he sold his soul for power, comfort, and conformity, he’s only able to access a shadow of his culture, while misunderstanding and misrepresenting major pieces of his own traditions. Even his attempts to culturally “share” through the banjo is plowed over by his use of it and Black bodies and voices for his own individual pleasure and as a threat of further violence. It’s such a smart pick
