This felt like a punch to the throat
it's annoying how hormones can affect your mental state, because right before I start my period, I have a day or two of INTENSE depression. like at certain points I'm almost vaguely suicidal. and then I wake up the next day bleeding out, and I'm like ohhhhhhhhhhhh! ohhh it was that! I'm actually happy and fine!
I had to explain that to a guy who was over once, because we had a mild argument about who would brush their teeth first, and I start SOBBING over it, and then (while still crying) had to explain "unfortunately, this is just a hormone thing, you're good man."
oh yes thank you, I was trying to remember! that's the guy!
when I was younger, I used to get into cataclysmic fights with my parents the day before my period. but I guess I'm defanged as an adult, because now I just get really sad
This is the greatest insult in the history of television.
Sometimes I see someone get so mad at a type of person I'm sure does exist and I'm sure they are seeing in their fandom space, who I would theoretically also get mad at but have never seen in my life, that I need to block them just to keep every part of their internet circle away from me. Sorry, you're right, theoretically, but I don't like your world.

Lined commission for @pangur-and-grim!
HEHEHEH! I gave Andy an early chapter from The Ignoble Invasion of Prince Proculo, and said 'draw whatever you want from it!'
this is the result. if you drop the leash, is your dog well-trained enough to retrieve it for you?
I'm curious about something
Note that I am talking SPECIFICALLY about lemon-lime sodas and not gingerale or any other carbonated beverage
Does Sprite (/7-up/Starry/equivalent) make you feel better when you're sick AND did you grow up drinking it when you were sick?
Yes and I grew up drinking it when sick
No and I grew up drinking it when sick
Yes and I did not grow up drinking it when sick
No and I did not grow up drinking it when sick
To clarify, I'm not making any claim that soda has any kind of healing property or whatever. I've just noticed an interesting trend among people I've talked to about this and wanted to see if it was the same on a larger scale.
If you find any nuance here, you're thinking too hard about it. If you ever buy sprite with the intent of drinking it to feel better when sick, doesn't matter what kind of sick, the answer is yes. If you don't, whether because it makes it worse or you just haven't tried it, the answer is no.

some people really do need to start reminding themselves that the answer to "why didn't the character just do [something entirely different]" is often simply "because then there wouldn't be a story"
"Why didn't the character just do [something entirely different]" well then they wouldn't be the character would they
Why is pet play always dogs anyway
Youre a dirty little goldfish arent you. daddys gonna clean your tank out so good so you have to wait in the sink until im done.

It always kinda bugs me when people are like "I want to be into this kink but NOT in a sex way but I can't say I'm into it or people will think it's a SEX THING"
Like, yeah, kink can be nonsexual, and it can be very fulfilling without sex ever coming into the picture. But you have to acknowledge that sex is a very interwoven part of kink for the majority of people who engage with it. Sex is part of the subculture of kink spaces, and if you want to be part of that subculture, you have to be able to acknowledge that maturely, even if you yourself are not engaging with it that way.
It gets a thousand times easier and more fun to engage in kink nonsexually when you stop treating the people who ARE into it sexually like being associated with them is the worst possible outcome.
Talking to allo people who haven’t really interrogated how society has told them to view sex feels like that bit in SpongeBob where Patrick keeps failing to put his hand on the lid
Sex is just a thing. No it’s just an activity. It doesn’t have to be… no listen it’s just an activity. An activity. It’s just a thing. A thing. No it’s not the same for everyone it’s just an activity. No it’s a value neutral activity. An activity. An activity.
I’ve been experiencing this lately with people trying to argue with me about my views on sex work.
“You can’t compare sex work to other types of work because having sex you’re not enthusiastic about is really traumatizing”
I’m sure for a lot of people that’s true but for me sex and masturbation occupy a similar emotional space to brushing my teeth or doing the dishes and I certainly don’t feel traumatized about it and I know for a fact that I’m not the only person who feels this way.
Also I think that someone physically and violently forcing me to brush my teeth might end up being traumatizing.
Sex is so taboo and mythologized that people have forgotten the mechanics of it.
Yeah sex might be sacred and important to you. To me it’s a chore I’ve gotta do sometimes. Like cooking. I love cooking and put great importance on it and who I do it with. A lot of people just cook to live though.
Yeah if to you sex has a lot of emotions caught up in it I’m not gonna tell you that you’re wrong for feeling that way. That’s normal. It’s not a universal experience though. And if you can’t accept that, then too bad. Other people’s personal realities don’t exist to confirm your personal worldview.
What a beautiful picture you paint
This disability pride month I would like the community to understand that Sometimes wheelchairs aren’t freedom.
Sometimes using a wheelchair means you can no longer get to the places that used to be important to you, and not because of man-made inaccessibility. I have sat with someone as they cried because they could no longer visit the place they had scattered a loved one’s ashes because not even the most expensive wheelchair in the world could handle the terrain. As much as I wanted to, my wheelchair meant that I couldn’t position myself in a way that would allow me to give them a proper hug. In that moment, our wheelchairs felt more like heavy weights than freedom.
And sometimes wheelchairs are like the legs of someone who can walk but would maybe benefit from a wheelchair themselves. Sometimes wheelchairs are exhausting and painful and you’re counting down the time before you’re able to be lifted into bed. Sure, like painful legs, you can do more with them than without, but constantly performing gratitude for something that hurts you is exhausting. And again, not because you need a better wheelchair, but because those are the limits of your body and the technology that exists.
Yes it’s important to challenge the idea that wheelchairs are always a tragedy. And yes, there are lots of people who have a positive relationship with their chair. But for a lot of people, including me, the pressure to love your wheelchair and see it as freedom is painful and feels like it erases huge amounts of my experiences with disability.
I don't think "having sex" is important. What's important is arachnid locomotion is controlled by a system of hydraulic compression
Both are important if you're @pangur-and-grim

Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
Happy moon day to all who celebrate
This is your reminder to prep for Moon Day on July 20th.
MOON DAY MONDAY THIS MONTH NOT A DRILL!!!!!
after a couple hours chopping dried sea urchins into tiny pieces with a razor blade you start referring to the razor blade as yourself in your thoughts. a little while afterwards you'll inevitably think something along the lines of "i'm getting a bit dull, i'm going to have to throw myself out & get myself a new self" at which point your internal monologue has pretty much returned to baseline
This happens with mobility aids too. I bump into shit with my forearm crutches and say "ow" before I realize those are not, in fact, More Legs. Then when I get up and try to walk without them for a second there's a moment of feeling like a dog walking upright
