Male childhood is about freedom: freedom to play, move, eat, dream. Female childhood is about restriction: don’t play certain sports, don’t move certain ways, don’t eat too much, don’t dream too hard.
So yes, male childhood is a privilege. It’s the privilege of being told that you’re superior to 50% of the population, it’s the privilege of being allowed the freedom that girls are denied. And so many men don’t even realise this, to the point that they deny this privilege and claim that not being allowed to restrict themselves in the way girls are forced to, means they were oppressed the same as or even more than girls. That too is a privilege: to be blind to the privilege, because it was so normal and unremarkable to you. Even though there’s people without it who dream of having it.
