My favorite new form of "if I put white in front of woman my misogyny is okay" trend is this "second in command" line
Second in command of what? The companies they weren't allowed to work for, let alone manage? The households they were property in? The governments they weren't allowed to be apart of?
White men don't even let their women join conversations let alone decision making. I have literally watched, in my time of working for women's shelters and supporting abuse survivors, white men PUT THEIR HANDS in their wives and daughters faces and shush them when they attempt to speak.
My most distinct memory from my first job was watching my white coworker approach a white man to ask what he needed, only for him to put his hand in her face, 2 inches from her nose, and tell her "I want to talk to a man."
The unity, intimacy and respect present in many traditional poc households is nonexistent in white cultures. Period. Spouses are strangers and women even speaking when the men are is still frowned upon.
I can speak for latino communities in that, while many women are still very traditional, my own mother and grandmother being hardcore housewives, their position and importance in the household, often as cherished matriarchs, is still deeply respected.
This does. not. exist. in white households. The goal of the white male is to erase all that is not himself, their women are silenced and tone policed and shut out in ways that would, if I'm being brutally honest, send most poc women into a psychic break after a week.
The danger of police brutality and outside violence is high for poc women, that cannot be denied, but the level of DOMESTIC terror and silence white women are subject to is honest to god foreign to most of yall. It would genuinely shock half of you what I've seen at white dinner tables.
