Me and bae looking good 😎✌️ . . . . ...But seriously, last year #WhatWouldDiploDo came out and to everyone's surprise I decided I, the pop punk alternative loving person I am, liked @diplo. In the last year, I've gone through moving out, getting an autoimmune disease and having an organ removed, graduating and having everyone ask me when I'm going to get a "real job" even though I have one, and big choices about career/dream changes that have put me through the ringer, and one of the only things that has made me consistently happy has been that dumb TV show and listening to Diplo's tunes whenever I needed a break from everything. So thanks to this cool dude @diplo and his crew for letting me do his hospitality *and* be a fan on Thursday at Twilight. And thanks to @jakestoneslc for getting him here for a show after I asked a bunch of times. It's the last week of the final cross country @vanswarpedtour and I never posted about the last Warped Tour in SLC, so here's a long post about it. 2 years ago today I was having the worst day in a streak of bad days. I was following the Warped Tour and was going to drive home 4 days in when One Pack of Smokes by @themaineband played and @eljonsmith told me if I wanted easy I should've bought a coloring book, so I decided to finish out the 2 weeks even though everything was bad and I was by myself. Lately I've been thinking that following the tour twice, especially the 2nd time when everything went to hell, didn't do anything for me and that maybe it was a massive waste of my time and effort and money and the more I think about it the more that isn't true. I wanted to go on Warped Tour so bad that in the process of finding ways to tour I became a great sound engineer and I learned how to run lighting and I got really good at managing merch and I built up my abilities as a production assistant and hospitality manager and I found a strength to carry on when everything is bad that I didn't know I had. It wasn't all a waste because I wanted to go on the tour so much I gained a lot of useful skills in the process of trying. So, despite the fact the last time I was following the tour it was the worst time ever, it wasn't a total loss. And the only thing that made me happy during that miserable 2 weeks was seeing @themaineband play every day, it was like a little 30 minute break of things being okay, so of course the last thing I did at the last Warped Tour in SLC was watch @themaineband and they still made me really happy. I GRADUATED!!! 🎉🎓 Had an awesome couple of days celebrating finishing my degree. I keep thinking I have homework to do and then remembering I don't have anymore homework! Thanks to everyone at Broadway & @the_real_laulau & @jakestoneslc for putting on a surprise for me at work 🎉🍰 and for working around my schedule so I could get my degree. Thanks to my sweet grandparents for helping me pay for school so I could go in the first place. My kitty passed away last night. She was 15 and sick, so it was coming, but I'm still sad I wasn't with her and that I couldn't have helped her more. I got her when I was 8, I paid $5 for her that I got from cleaning the bathroom at my house just so I could have her. Going through all these photos today makes me miss her a ton already. Despite the fact that I've spent 5-7 days a week with @jakestoneslc for almost 7 years, I don't have a ton of pictures together, so since we were dressed up last night it was a good time for these. When I was 16, so 7 years ago, my young women's leader took me to see Neon Trees at a festival in Lehi and @chris_carrabba was the headliner playing an acoustic @dashboardconfessional set and I only knew Vindicated, but we sang our hearts out to that song. While him and I were soundchecking for this acoustic set on Monday, I was hiding a giant smile because I was mixing sound for Chris Carrabba while he was playing Vindicated.
