These Chocolate Frosted Sugar Cookie Bars are a tasty treat that tastes like a traditional sugar cookie but has a rich chocolate frosting on top. Great for satisfying your sweet tooth or sharing with family and friends.
Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 2 cups granulated sugar. 4 large eggs. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. 5 cups all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. 1/4 cup heavy cream. 1/4 cup unsalted butter. 2 cups powdered sugar. 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/4 teaspoon salt.
Instructions: Warm the oven up to 175F 350C. Prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish by greasing it. Mix 1 cup of softened butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl until the mixture is smooth. At a time, beat in the eggs. Then, add the vanilla and almond extracts and mix them in. Mix the flour, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt together. Add the flour mixture slowly to the creamed mixture and mix it well. Cover the dough evenly in the baking pan that has been prepared. In a hot oven, bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden brown. Allow to cool completely. Heat chocolate chips, heavy cream, and 1/4 cup butter in 30 second increments in a bowl that can go in the microwave. Stir the mixture until it is smooth. Add vanilla extract, 1/4 teaspoon salt, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar. Mix well until smooth. Cover bars in frosting after they've cooled. Wait until it's set before cutting it into squares.
