giggled at something and my coworker comes out of the break room and goes "I just heard like, a haunted child laugh... so weird." and I'm like okay so it was a normal regular alive adult laugh actually

i’ve been thinking about this and desperately searching for it for months
forget baby fever, the perceived need to grab any piece of free furniture you see in your 20s is unreal
Please, 20+ year olds, follow the rule of:
Hard furniture YES
Soft furnishings NO
Free bookcase? Table? Lamp? Go for it
Free couch, mattress or beanbag? Leave it be!
You don’t know if it has bedbugs and you do not want bedbugs. Also if a passing dog has pissed on it that’s the sort of thing you can’t always tell until it’s in a closed space with you. If you can’t wipe it clean, leave it!
I brought the coolest and heaviest desk i have still ever seen to this day into my apartment without inspecting it and it infested my entire room with German cockroaches so
OHMYGOD.
Why would there be a bottle of wine on the stove?!
WTF Barbie you can’t use a cutting board for a bulletin board
BARBIE! you should know better than to leave a cheese grater on the edge of the fridge! someone could get hurt!
Um, okay, DOES NO ONE REALIZE THAT BARBIE is cleaning her kitchen floor with a garden hose? Get it together, Barbie.
OH MY GOD BARBIE! ARE YOU JUST GOING TO LEAVE THOSE DIRTY DISHES IN YOUR SINK? SERIOUSLY GET IT TOGETHER BARBIE!
…Seriously?
People. Wow. Open your EYES.
Is NOBODY going to point out how Barbie is CLEANING HER FLOOR
IN
WHITE
PANTS???
CLOSE THE DAMN REFRIGERATOR! YOUR LETTING ALL THGE COLD OUT!
Barbie, seriously? The blender on top of the fridge? You could get hurt!!1
Guys for the love of god how can you not notice the freaking rat next to the fridge?! WTF Barbie? Clean your house more often, would ya?
Barbie, who the hell puts a calculator on their fridge. COME ON! GET WITH THE TIMES!
I love how everyone pretends not to notice the toaster next to the sink. BARBIE! YOU COULD GET ELECTROCUTED IF THAT FELL IN! GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER GURL!
what the hell is wrong with you people???!?!?!
omfg how can you not notice the fact the fridge has three layers of drawers on the bottom? what the fuck?? barbie fridges dont work that way im sorry
SERIOUSLY?!! YOU PEOPLE ARE SICK! CAN YOU SEE THAT A SERIOUS CRIME HAS BEEN COMMITTED HERE?!!
THAT WALLPAPER! IT’S HIDEOUS! Get a freakin’ sense of style, woman!
theres a dead body
As someone who isn't straight but is straight-passing (married to a trans man as a trans woman*), it feels a lot of the time like I don't have a place in the queer community.
The number of people I've had to witness talking to myself and others about how transhet people aren't valid, unsafe, how we're traitors to our queer peers, how we don't belong at pride, how we shouldn't have pride because "ew straights".
It's really fucking exhausting. And I'm not even straight! My husband is, and he feels the same way, so I know I'm not alone here. I've heard this from several people now. I hate it. I hate how I and others are seen as lesser just because we're attracted to, married to, or dating people of different genders than us.
You can't help that you're gay. Transhet people can't help that they're heterosexual. Why is this so fucking hard for people to understand? What the fuck do you think happens to the gays and lesbians who transition and are now straight trans women and trans men? You sure as fuck accepted them then, why not now?
And that's not even including aspec heterosexuals, but that's not my community so I won't speak on that.
I've said this a few times now, but I'll say it again: the trans community and wider queer community has a heterophobia problem.
Fix your fucking hearts. I'm tired of this shit.

it's just really apparent that people think it's okay to want pain but morally abhorrent to want to give it. sorry but the sadist gets to have fun too. it's actually pretty crucial to the process.
if I said I was going to a taekwondo class would you feel the need to tell me kicking people on the street is bad or.
Image ID: A screenshot of a tumblr comment that says "yeah, its only abhorrent imo, when the recipient is non consenting, i've" the screenshot cuts off.
That post that's like "afab housing reveals the difference between transmisogyny and transandrophobia: trans women are denied housing while trans men just have to misgender themselves to get housing" is so stupid. I think the only thing it reveals is these people's view that trans men getting misgendered is simply not as big of a deal as when it happens to trans women.
Like, in this hypothetical scenario, both the trans man and woman have the exact same choice: get misgendered or get denied housing... Except a trans woman getting misgendered is framed as worse than being homeless while trans men should just like... Shut up and deal with it, I guess.
This is actually a really good example of an issue all trans people experience and should be able to relate to each other about, but these people are too busy sniffing their own oppression Olympics farts to think about what other types of trans people go through.
fandoms would be a lot more peaceful if more people told themselves “okay but it’s fiction and it doesn’t affect me or anybody in real life in any way, shape or form, and I can just block, mute, scroll past it as I please” every time they saw something they didn’t like on the internet

it really drives me up the wall how people want to view male privilege as a binary yes/no question for trans men. there are options beyond "every single trans man has inherent male privilege from the moment he realizes he's trans, or even from the moment he's born, and therefore never experiences misogyny" and "trans men never ever access male privilege because of their poor victim afab status." and it's actually different for every single trans man because guess what! shit's complicated!
like. all of the following trans men are going to have a different relationship to male privilege:
kai, who is 15 and just bought a binder and his parents think it's a silly phase and he's in a red state where politicians writing laws about whether he can chop off his beautiful womanly breasts
joe, who is in his 40s and entirely stealth and has a wife and two daughters
oliver, who is 22 and on hrt and passes pretty well, but is still legally female and is read as female in some contexts
sarah, who is 30 and in a conservative environment where he's forced to be a housewife and mother and doesn't exactly know he's trans, just that he wishes he was born a man
and so many other trans men because every single one of us is a unique individual with a unique relationship to male privilege
and it's not that trans men can't have male privilege. joe certainly does, though he would likely lose some of that privilege if he were outed. oliver is probably privileged in a lot of everyday ways, like not being catcalled or getting taken more seriously at work, but is still very much subject to more structural forms of misogyny. and there are ways in which trans men are privileged over our trans sisters. our capacity for privilege is something to be aware of, not something to instinctively deny.
but also, for non trans men, listen to us when we talk about our experiences not being treated like men and not having male privilege. listen to us when we talk about our experiences with misogyny (crucially, without treating us like being subject to misogyny makes us Honorary Women)
there's balance! there's nuance! shit's complicated!
This may be the best Pride merch I've seen from a major corporation.
Levi's said yes, actually. Assless chaps and a biker vest. Happy Pride.
And the assless chaps sold out on June 1.
They also specifically contacted members of the leather community, used them as models iirc, and donated $100k to Outright International. They talked the talk and walked the walk and put their money on it too. I don't really care that I can't afford and don't want this merch, I love to see my community getting the respect it deserves. Levi's said, "We make jeans which gays wear lots of jeans? Oh leather daddies? Let's call them."
I think Levi's donates to Outreach International every year too, as well as sponsoring pride events and other community support. They were offering Same Sex domestic partner benefits to employees in the 90s, and have been very public about their support for pro-lgbt legislation all through the 2000s.
So, you know, a giant corporation that walks the walk pretty consistently.
