Euros over here for the World Cup discovering we were right about this
HI LET’S SHARE NICOLE’S WORDS ON THE SUBJECT!
It has been literal years but every time I see Martin’s tweets posted somewhere and his word is shared as truth while her post is not shared it sort of reiterates the fact that we trust men to speak about feminism more than we believe women who experience it.
Interesting, innit? https://medium.com/@nickyknacks/working-while-female-59a5de3ad266
Reading her account of how their boss treated her blows me away. Men are so emboldened that they will literally admit to illegal discrimination casually and face no consequences.
In all the years of seeing this post I’ve never seen a link to her side. Didn’t even know she’d written one.
Adding screenshots of her post. His whole post is there without needing a link. Hers should be, too.
Also, she posted this is 2017! It’s fucking 2020 and I’ve seen his side of this for years, but it took 3 years for her side to make its way to my dash…
I’ve reblogged his story at least twice; it’s time for Nicole’s.
It’s 2023 and i just now learned that Nicole’s response was also out there
your mom jokes don't work when you know someone too well. I would never be in bed with such a wicked woman. That's not even what I had your mom saying last night. I wouldn't speak to her.
A Gallup poll showed only 5% of Republicans say that gender transition is morally acceptable.
Mathew Rodriguez at Them:
Acceptance of LGBTQ+ people across the board has backslid since its peak in the 2010s, according to new dataset from Gallup. That includes lower acceptance for same-sex marriage, fewer people believing queer relationships and gender transition are moral.
After a steady increase over decades, from 27% in 1996 to 71% in 2022, the percentage of Americans who supports same-sex marriage has continued its downward turn. It now stands at 65%, after showing a marginal decline every year since 2022. Notably, the decline in acceptance of same-sex marriage coincides with the 2022 explosion of the slur “groomer” to refer to LGBTQ+ people as well as the passage of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law and the proliferation of copycat legislation. Similarly, the percentage of Americans who believe that same-sex relationships are “moral” has gone up since Gallup first asked the question in 2001, then tapered off after peaking in 2022, also with 71%. That number now stands at 64%. Gallup first asked Americans about the “morality” of gender transition in 2021, when 46% found it acceptable while 51% found it to be immoral. Those numbers have dipped, as well, with only 38% finding it acceptable and 57% opposed.
Notably, only 5% of Republicans say that gender transition is morally acceptable, compared with 60% of Democrats. When Gallup first asked about transition in 2021, 22% of Republicans agreed, along with 67% of Democrats. The downturn in acceptance among GOPers coincides with the rise of trans kids becoming a target in both right-wing political circles and right wing media. In recent years, media narratives around trans people have also included the false assertion that there is a correlation between mass shootings and trans identity. Political affiliation plays a role in acceptance, per Gallup. While the numbers have overall gone down, the polling organization pointed out that the general dips are due to steep declines in acceptance among self-identified Republicans, with double-digit drops in acceptance in some cases. There has been a small drop in acceptance among independents, while LGBTQ+ acceptance among Democrats remains steady. Notably, Republican views on the morality of same-sex relationships now stand where they did in 2005. (Wow, the 2000s truly are so back!)
A recent Gallup Poll reveals that the decline in support for LGBTQ+ rights has come mainly from Republicans.

genuinely SO sick of that thing in media where a character doesn't want to have sex and it's treated like some kind of barrier to be overcome or problem to be fixed. Reading a book that treats it somewhat like that right now, and it genuinely made me question myself for a second, what the fuck. This is truly the first time I have ever had a thought along the lines of "what if my asexuality means I'm broken", and that was awful. Horrid. Fuck this.
fucking insane to be a person of colour in the uk right now
When my family first moved to the UK, we faced a similar risk to our wellbeing & safety as many are facing now, albeit for different reasons. in light of everything happening in Ireland & the tensions increasing in Glasgow, and the perennial England, here’s a list of actionable things to do for people who may be targeted & anti racist allies.
MY HOME IS ON THE LIST/LIKELY TO BE TARGETED, WHAT CAN I DO?
* it may bring you peace of mind to have a go-bag ready, just in case. A go-bag is a bag with everything in it that you need to get out a volatile situation quickly. Any bag that can be secured (buttoned or zipped) will do. In your go-bag, you should include;
- identifying documents; passport/driver’s license/asylum card/ILR certificate/British Residency permit card
- Wallet and/or banking books
- A spare charger & cable and/or a power bank
- any shelf-stable medication (tablets, inhalers etc.) if you are on medication that needs to be refrigerated, leave it in the fridge until you have to leave
- Sanitary items; toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary pads & tampons, deodorant. If you have very young children with you, you may also want to take your nappy bag.
* If you have to leave, a go-bag is a convenient way to ensure you have everything of importance with you.
* If you are being supported by an asylum seekers or refugee charity, or are a member of a gurdwara/temple, mosque, synagogue or church, reach out to your religious leaders. They may be able to provide direct support, or put you in contact with organisations or other congregants who can help. If you are friendly with your neighbours, it may be worth contacting them too.
* IN THE EVENT THAT “PROTESTORS” DO COME TO YOUR HOUSE, CALL 999 IMMEDIATELY, AND FOLLOW ANY INSTRUCTIONS THEY GIVE YOU. MOVE AWAY FROM ANY WINDOWS. DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY EMERGENCY SERVICES.
I’M AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT/CARE WORKER/NHS WORKER, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
* Contact your student welfare office/NHS Trust/agency for advice, support and referral to organisations that may be able to provide assistance
* if you live in or commute through an area that is likely to be targeted, contact your lecturers and your faculty to find out whether remote study is possible; if you work in care or as part of the NHS, find out if it is possible to change shifts.
* If it would provide peace of mind, prepare a go-bag as listed above
* Reach out to your the uni society or student’s organisation for international students or students of specific ethnic origin; they may be able to provide you with direction to resources and peer support. If your university has a Marxist or Socialist society, reach out to them for mutual aid with a travel buddy etc., for getting to and from your place of study/work
* If you are a member of a gurdwara/temple, mosque, synagogue or church, reach out to your religious leaders. They may be able to provide direct support, or put you in contact with organisations or other congregants who can help.
* If you are friendly with your neighbours, it may be worth contacting them too for assistance with travel to & from work.
* Report any racism or racialised violence you are subjected to. NHS staff have a right to refuse to treat patients who harass, abuse, threaten or insult them; if a patient is racist to you, where possible, ask another member of staff to take over their care.
PERSONAL SAFETY:
* do not leave your home unless strictly necessary. If it is necessary to leave, don’t do it alone.
* use NextDoor, WhatsApp, social media and word of mouth to avoid commuting through “protestor” road blocks, areas of active conflict etc.,
* When travelling, use Share My Location or Life360, and keep at least two people aware of your expected time of arrival at your destination with instructions to contact the police if you do not let them know you’ve made it safely
* do not directly confront any individuals involved, or allow them to bait you into becoming confrontational
* only record if it is safe. Do not record individuals directly/from up close
* Do not directly intervene. If you see violence occurring, contact emergency services and if safe to do so, record what’s happening.
ALLYSHIP & HOW TO HELP:
* if you have neighbours, friends, coworkers or acquaintances form targeted communities, reach out to them. Ask them what you can do to help them feel safe.
* If you live in an area likely to be targeted, reach out to any vulnerable people you know. If safe and possible, offer to let them shelter with you in the event they need to leave home
* If you see any incitement to violence online screenshot it; it may prove useful in the event of individual “protesters” being prosecuted
* If you see any specific areas being discussed as targets, alert anyone you know at risk in the area
* Reach out to local refugee & asylum seekers’ organisations, to organisations supporting foreign national care & healthcare workers, and to churches, mosques, gurdwaras; they may be looking for short term assistance in helping to provide for vulnerable members of their community
CHARITABLE ORGANISATIONS FOR ASSISTANCE & TO SUPPORT:
* NASC Ireland; refugee & asylum seeker charity
* Doras.org; migrant, stateless persons, refugee and asylum seeker rights advocates
* Jesuit Refugee Service; religious refugee & asylum seekers charity
* Irish Refugee Council; supporting stateless displaced persons & refugees in NI & ROI
* International Student’s House (IE & UK WIDE): provides hardship funding and help to international students
* PathFinder (UK WIDE); supports international students
* Care International (GLOBAL); global carer’s charity
* Choose Love (IE & UK WIDE); charitable organisation supporting refugees and asylum seekers
* Praxis UK (UK WIDE); supporting refugees & asylum seekers
* The Runnymede Trust (IE & UK WIDE); antiracism education charity
* Migrant’s Rights Network (IE & UK WIDE); advocacy and support for migrants and refugees
* ShareTheMeal (GLOBAL); providing meals for refugees and those fleeing conflict globally
* Amnesty (IRELAND, UK & WORLDWIDE); human rights NGO
* UNHCR & UN Refugee Council (GLOBAL); UN refugee bodies supporting those seeking asylum, fleeing conflict & internally/internationally displaced worldwide
the hottest thing a guy can be is barely conscious on the floor while someone lifts his head up by the hair so that you can see his glazed out eyes and the blood running down his face
#my family does this thing#when we've majorly unfucked a room or done chore that we were putting off#or whatever. Any sort of household Improvement.#'Come brag on me.'#I means come look I cleaned/rearranged/did dishes/put away the laundry#and the scripted response is 'oh nice it looks SO much better in here now'#like my mom did this when we were kids.#'girls comr brag on the garage I finally organized it so I can get my car in there'#and we go and 'ooh' and 'aah' and tell her how nice it looked and how she did a good job#and we could have her 'come brag on' us for like doing the dishes or cleaning our rooms#I do it to my wife now too#it's a dialogue that means#'I did a chore and it feels like an Accomplishment even if it objectively wasn't a big thing. Please acknowledge this.'#and#'Wow you sure did do a thing. It has improved our material circumstance even if only in a small way. Thank you for doing it.'#like yeah scrubbing the pans is my Job and it's a Little Task but sometimes it feels like a Big Task#and it's nice to have an Accepted Script where I can just demand 'I have functioned as an independent adult praise me with great praise' - by @thepioden

Transfem is not the same as trans woman.
Transmasc is not the same as trans man.
transmasc and transfem are not catch-all terms.
They aren't umbrella terms.
I'm actually starting to lose my mind about this because I keep seeing it, it's so widespread now and I feel so bad for nonbinary people whose term was basically stolen to mean the entire trans community = transmasc and transfem, not to mention the audacity to leave out nonbinary in nearly every conversation using these terms too.
This of course does also affect intersex people but we all know y'all don't care about us except when it's convenient to use us as a token.
Ugh whatever I'm trying not to be angry actually
Transfem and transmasc are not shorthand for trans woman and trans man.
Happy pride to nonbinary specifically and let's get better at not abusing their terms.
transmeds and exorsexists in general collectively helped transneutral become near extinct by declaring it "invalid" as a transition type.
Transneutral is still out there.
Happy pride to those who are transneutral.
A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Let’s fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
5. If the words are Google's, this solidifies the position of universities who demand that all answers from AI are fully cited. If all the in-line citations now have to be (Google, 2026), that's going to make it obvious when someone's trying to use Google as a source. There's still the difficulty with people who are academically dishonest by trying to pass off the AI writing as their own. 6. 91% accuracy is officially too low to use as a source of references, which means the AI can't be used as a source of references either. This makes it less legitimate for such purposes than Wikipedia of all places (Wikipedia might need date/time proof of when it was accessed for the reference to be valid, but at least it is possible to prove the link existed at a particular date and time). 7. This will help encourage the rollout of courses on how to avoid AI search for students who need academic accuracy, because it's statistically not good enough to use. 8. This strengthens the case intellectual property authors have against Google in the EU, as this is proof that an intellectual property transfer took place.
Erica Jong, Becoming Light: New Poems; from ‘Lullaby for a Dybbuk’
Verbal support for Hong Kong and its protests used to be all over the internet. Now it's gone silent. It's gone silent when we need it most. We have lost and we are being crushed by the government. I did the best I could when I was only ten years old. Why is it that we only got support when it was entertaining for the media? When it was "good" for the news to cover? Why is everyone being so silent and allowing the government to smother us?
I love my home. I always have. I left because I couldn't grow up being fed propaganda at every hour. One day I dream that we will be liberated but it isn't going to come soon if we don't keep the conversation alive.
I can provide more info for my mutuals who want to know more + please research it. It would mean the world to me
