Wayne Manor Haunted House Headcanon
Bruce is out of town on business, either for Batman or WE, it doesn't matter, it's not story relevant- ANYWAY, the kids/Batfam are home alone around Halloween, and for some reason it's going to be suspiciously quiet because idk REASONS, ok? Anyways, the kids decide to turn Wayne Manor into a haunted house because they want to, right? Sure, let's pretend. Ok, anyway, here is what I think each BatKid would contribute to the haunted house event-
Tim designed the map, how they were going to set up the walls, the arrows that show the way, and the locations of all the jump scares for optimum scare efficiency. He makes an incredibly complex map that's so detailed it makes it almost unreadable. He designates which person gets which room, and basically acts like the director of the whole show. His own section is designed like a completely normal classroom, but with irritating lighting. It's made to make the entrant think that there several points someone could jump out of, but it never comes. The scare is that there is no scare, but you never know....
Damian paints the walls. He makes an AMAZING fake blood concoction, and it's super realistic. Duke isn't quit convinced it isn't blood. The room Damian designs is based off a butcher shop where a pig became a zombie, came to life, and murdered the butcher. He's the only one that gets it.
Everyone thinks Jason is going to come up with some big complex murder scene, the nastiest and scariest gruesomeness they've ever seen, but.... he doesn't. He giggles to himself maniacally as he hunts down every vintage mirror he can find in the manor, and covers the room in them.
Dick designs a room that is full of half-destroyed animatronics. He has his friends record themselves saying really odd shit, and has them set to go off at random times. It's oddly terrifying.
Duke goes with a frat house basement theme. There's no murder or horror, but the strobe lights are incredibly annoying. And the music is loud as shit. And the beat is terrible. And there's a smoke machine, and it smells... off?
Stephanie goes for a Cheap Riddler vibe, making some weird elaborate mouse trap kind of thing, she spends the entire night asking attendants incredibly odd riddles and pretending she was going saw them in half if they got it wrong. She and Damian work together to build a stage for her to stand on, and they arrange lights like some kind of creepy comedy show. She wears the shittiest Riddler rip-off costume she can find on the internet.
Babs designs a hallway with the most irritating layout. The floor has subtle changes in pitch, so it feels at some points like you're walking uphill, and at some points like you're walking down. But they have a custom rug made so it visually appears to be completely flat to the naked eye.
Alfred wants to get involved. He's the very first room. They set him up as a "ticket booth operator" but he's actually the first scare. He doesn't jump out and say boo or anything, he just... stares a bit too long. Says his words a little bit off. Says some sentences too fast, and some too slow. He sits in a little booth, greeting people as they come in, acting at first like a seemingly normal man, and then just... cranks up the weird to 100. It's the most fun he's had in months.
