Now, unrelated to my Absolute Batman thread of Asks I sent, the dynamic duos issue that just came out & u posted about, Im overall, so far, more happy about, Dick was sweet & funny, I love more Dick going undercover stuff; it has been apart of Dick's character since the beginning, & he is good at it, so Im happy to see more of it. Dick & Bruce are funny & cute together. I love Dick getting Bruce to bring a gargoyle back he liked, & Dick naming the trophy room. The art is great as always. Etc.
Lol yeah literally since the beginning ðŸ˜. It was fun to see this version of Bruce and Dick again, and they've still got that fun dynamic. It's not necessarily black cat and golden retriever, it's more like... black cat and mischievous orange cat lmao. Yeah no that's it. Especially with Bruce being like, "We don't inflict pain unnecessarily, Robin," and then Dick being like, "Define unnecessarily" while kicking the baddie in the gut ðŸ˜. Orange cat behavior. And speaking of cats, it'll be cool to see Selina getting more involved.
I am happy it wasn't Dick killed off (yet. They better not kill off Dick. And if they do, give me something like Talon/Gray Son Dick. I would love more awesome Talon/Gray Son Dick stuff) in Absolute Batman, and killing off Jason would just be too predictable, but Absolute Batman has barely even explored the Robins as a group and esp. as their own characters separate from lumping them all together as a group (which they are), and so Tim already being dead is honestly just disappointing 1/?.
and suck-y. Like, the Robins, outside of camos, have just started to get really explored in Absolute Batman, and now one is already dead. I am not completely surprised, because elseworlds sometimes really mistreats Robins, and Snyder just decided to lump all together and introduce all of them basically (except Dick, but he was mostly just camos before the other Robins were introduced) at once, so doesn't bode super well that they would all be treated well and get focus, but it still isn't great, imo. Tim, like Dick (who can get good elseworlds stuff sometimes, but still), also can deserve sometimes better in stuff like elseworlds. I am also just not a super big fan of the Robins being killed off more in general, because I love the Robins and they deserve better treatment, but I esp. don't really like it now, because it just feels way too soon, for some of the reasons I mentioned. I can still really like Snyder stuff, and Absolute Batman, but I hope Tim isn't actually dead or gets brought back or something, personally. And/or I am really hoping Absolute Batman turns itself around on how it is writing, treating, and exploring and etc. the Robins, because right now, Abs. Batman is kind of disappointing and annoying and etc. w/ how they do them sometimes. They deserve better. & the Absolute universe is such a big, popular universe, so they deserve more, better, and well, more than the Robins already do. This is all just imo.
Yeah, it's a bit unfortunate that we didn't get too much depth out of the Robins before we lost Tim. Dick and Jason seem to have the most focus with Dick talking about making Gotham better for citizens, and Jason being hellbent on going after Batman. And now Tim's death has only incentivized Jason even more. That really may have been Tim's only purpose in the grand scheme of things is to make the other Robins even more persistent.
With Tim dead, I wonder if Dick will also gain some of that laser focused precision in going after Batman, or if it will simply divide the Robins further. I could see Dick backing off from the other Robins because of different goals. Either he rallies with them after what happened to Tim, or he thinks they're way too focused on just going after Batman, and they end up fighting over it.
But yeah, I think it would've been cool to get into a bit more of the details of the Robins and their relationships to each other. Though, tbh, Dick is the most compelling one out of them to me so far. Dick and Jason seem to be playing out the Leo and Raph dynamic, and I don't think we've seen enough from Steph and Duke.
I'm not too concerned with this particular universe, but I'll be interested to see what ends up happening to the rest of the Robins.

Hey! I’m still working my way through Nightwing comics and have consumed a lot of your posts on here about characterization for him. However, I had an amazing idea for a Dick and Roy fic that involves the fab five. Any quick tips for material to get through to get at least some semblance of characterization for the rest of the titans?

A quick tip would be to go through the character tags on a few people's blogs and gather info from the panels or metas they've posted/reblogged. Also click on the blogs of the people they reblog from to gather even more panels and character discussion posts.
