some batfam and bruce fans (some i said SOME) are kinda mega weird about dickβs history w/the titans, like he owed it to bruce to be in his orbit forever and now needs to decide and pick the batfam over the titans. kinda goes along w/the fandom trend of trying to erase dickβs time there so he was always in bludhaven, even during jaybin, or like fics where he has no connections w/any heroes outside the batfam even tho tim, jasonβs, damianβs outside connections always get included. itβs weird lol.
See, I feel like if Bruce was my blorbo, I would definitely be sad and somewhat bitter about the Bruce and Dick split the same way I'm forever mourning the Dick and Damian split lmao. Like that, to me, is understandable. Except I've never been mad about Damian trying to find himself and form his own path so can't relate to being mad about Dick doing that. But again, I can see why detaching Dick further from Bruce would be a mournful thing for those who grew up with Bruce and Dick prior to the Nightwing mantle being created.
But no yeah, it's interesting how the majority of fics are batfam focused and don't really mention Dick's friends at all. There's not a good balance at all even in fics where Dick is living on his own and not at the manor. It's always his siblings he's interacting with rather than his actual friends. It's part of the reason why it's so hard for me to stomach reading any Dick or batfam fics these days.
