Flowey has the in-depth completionist’s guide. Just the biggest and most in-depth guide imaginable without a lot of emotion behind it, but it does call you can idiot about 74 times.

Alphys has the deep, rambling guide that breaks off into her opinions of each cut scene and which routes are best and omg you HAVE to unlock this part and omg sorry she got off track um she THINKS what you do here is… Wait hang on that got changed in the update let me just….

Undyne just tells you to fight your way through everything. Get STRONGER!!! It’s just the git gud diaries with little time for the other parts of the game. It’s all about those combat strategies, and only the GOOD combat strategies that face danger HEAD ON! And save EVERYBODY!!! With a few guides in there on how to help certain NPCs she really loves and cherishes.

Mettaton’s walkthrough is a video with so many special effects and dramatic edits that you aren’t sure if it’s the same game or not, but damn if the videos aren’t entertaining

Papyrus’s guide is very… Odd. It’s… actually not even for the right game??? You don’t even know what game his guide is for. The game he’s describing doesn’t seem to exist, or maybe you’ve just never heard of it. But it’s not this one. Maybe he’s confused. Maybe you’re confused. He has contact info at the bottom though and says “PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MESSAGE ME IF YOU NEED ANY EXTRA HELP I’M ALWAYS AVAILABLE!!!!!!!!” If you do ask for advice, it always seems just a little off. Also he seems to always know what buttons you just pressed and it’s a little creepy. But somehow he gets you through with the most backward and cryptic advice he can give.

That’s a bit of a change in voice, isn’t it? One speaks in ALL CAPS, and the second speaks in proper capitalization. That seems very… intentional, doesn’t it?

Well, what if I told you that change in voice is even more distinct in Japanese?

In the Japanese version, Gaster (or, at least, a person who is presumed to be Gaster) speaks exclusively in kanji and katakana, a combination that is very odd. However, the mysterious second person speaks in kanji and hiragana, which is, well, how you would normally write. (However, it’s worth noting that in UNDERTALE, and in the “surface world” portion of DELTARUNE, kanji is used very sparingly - the game is written mostly in hiragana and katakana alone, with a few simple kanji here and there. This person’s “normal” use of kanji is actually a bit unusual in that respect.) On it’s own, this difference seems similar to the English version.

But that’s not the only difference.

See, in Japanese, Gaster uses the second-person pronoun “anata”. This is a formal pronoun, which is fitting for him, as he seems to be very polite (at least in his “survey”). However, when the second person says “your name is..” they use the much more informal pronoun “omae”.

In addition, Gaster speaks very formally and politely in general, ending a lot of sentences with “desu”, and ending all of his requests with “kudasai” (please). However, the second person speaks using informal language, for example, opting to use the informal “dekinai” rather than the formal “dekimasen”. Compare directly to Gaster, who DOES use the formal “dekimasu”.

You know who else uses the pronoun “omae” when speaking on a plain black background, using informal language, and using kanji liberally?

The song that plays during the intro sequence (choosing your vessel) is titled “anotherhim.ogg” as uploaded here. The only other “him” we know of is “mus_st_him.ogg” also known as Gaster’s Theme.

The version number of Deltarune we are given is 6.6.6. Sixes are heavily associated with Gaster and his followers.

The same sprite as the Mystery Man’s grey door is used as your method of teleporting in the game.

If you try to use your phone, the audio is the same as Entry 17′s background noise.

The song played during credits is titled Don’t Forget, the same words that appear on the photo found in Sans’s basement once interacting with Clamgirl.

Naming your vessel “Gaster” resets the game; naming yourself “Gaster” closes the game.

Extreme emphasis on your actions not mattering, a lot like Gaster’s accomplishments no longer mattering in the original timeline of Undertale.

The bunker found at the end sequence of the surface is mapped as Map No. 17. Changing your location in the code will teleport you there. Also, the sound played when sped up at the bunker is the same sound from Entry 17, as uploaded here.

This odd egg discovery, both options uploaded here and here. May or may not be related. You get to this room by chance, sometimes spawning there instead of the room with the bird enemy deactivated by a bell. The audio played here is called “man.ogg.”

If you choose not to continue at the game over screen, the text reads “THEN THE WORLD WAS COVERED IN DARKNESS.” The following song, audio_darkness.ogg, begins with the first four notes of Gaster’s Theme.

Delatrune’s website is archived all the way back to July of 2016. It consisted of one black image titled “Him.png” with the text "THIS NEXT EXPERIMENT SEEMS VERY VERY INTERESTING” written in Wingdings. On December of 2016, this image updates to read "THREE HEROES APPEARED TO BANISH THE ANGELS HEAVEN" written in Wingdings. Discovery of this info here.

A good amount of people have probably realized all of this already, so I’m not sure what compelled me to make this, but ever since I connected the dots with the music, I’ve been slightly obsessed.

A lot of these places are called liminal spaces - which means they are throughways from one space to the next. Places like rest stops, stairwells, trains, parking lots, waiting rooms, airports feel weird when you’re in them because their existence is not about themselves, but the things before and after them. They have no definitive place outside of their relationship to the spaces you are coming from and going to. Reality feels altered here because we’re not really supposed to be in them for a long time for think about them as their own entities, and when we do they seem odd and out of place.

The other spaces feel weird because our brains are hard-wired for context - we like things to belong to a certain place and time and when we experience those things outside of the context our brains have developed for them, our brains are like NOPE SHIT THIS ISN’T RIGHT GET OUT ABORT ABORT. Schools not in session, empty museums, being awake when other people are asleep - all these things and spaces feel weird because our brain is like “I already have a context for this space and this is not it so it must be dangerous.” Our rational understanding can sometimes override that immediate “danger” impulse but we’re still left with a feeling of wariness and unease.
