In the world of Florentia, there once lived an Ancient scientist named Merleaf who had an idea for an experiment for a shapeshifting Pixl all her own. Pixls were created from souls from living beings put into vessels to serve a specific purpose to the Ancients, but this Pixl was different as it was to be created from various robotic parts without a living soul within. She then got to work on the experiment of her dreams which then became Mimi, named for her ability to mimic those around her by shapeshifting.

Mimi was treated very poorly by her creator Merleaf after she let out her monstrous true form, seeing her as a failure of an experiment. She was sheltered and made to clean up after the house & laboratory as Merleaf tried to keep a good image of herself amongst her peers. In Merleaf's mind, Mimi was nothing but a monster, and was eventually discarded and locked away in the cellar. Many years later, she broke out of the cellar and was in the town's alleyways where she eventually encountered Count Bleck with Nastasia & O'Chunks alongside him.
