Tuns out the pronouns were load-bearing after all.
Happy Pride everyone, today is the tenth anniversary of the nationwide right to gay Marriage in the United States and the 22nd anniversary of nationwide legalization of Gay Sex. In 2 days is the 56th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.
We have won nothing without fighting and we have everything to lose, there is no gay liberation without trans liberation, none of us are free till all of us are free, we have won so much and come so far but the road ahead is still long, we must continue to fight for both our liberation and the liberation of all people
The gay liberation movement is young, everything we have fought for and won happened over the course of less than a human lifetime, and there are forces at play that wish to claw back at these hard fought for rights, we must be prepared to defend what we have fought for and we must continue to fight for improvement
We have to celebrate how far things have come, because we never would have made it this far without joy and hope, and while we can and must fight, we also must remain hopeful
This year is:
11 years since nationwide gay marriage in the US
23 years since sodomy was legalized
57 years since Stonewall
i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
I've been using "web search" for years, after they turned evil (the advertising is why we can't have nice things).

I thought y'all might like to see Niagara Falls lit up for Pride.
Hope you had a good one!
could also be called the tumblrfication of human experience but then it would've gotten fewer views.
Honestly John Scalzi said it best.
In summary, Neil acknowledged that he made moves on his early-20s nanny on her first day of employment. This meant that the absolute best case scenario of this whole situation was that he didnât have the sense or wisdom to understand that making a move on a woman 40 years his junior, economically dependent on him, and whom he had met just literally hours before, was wrong.
The things NEIL GAIMAN ADMITS TO are horrible.
That is enough for me.
Main character introductions in every Aubrey-Maturin book
"This is Captain Aubrey, he is TALL and FAT and STRONG and BLOND and HOT. His crew worship him and so should you." "This is Stephen Maturin, he is SMALL and WEIRD and looks PERMANENTLY ILL. His clothes are RUBBISH. Scrungle Doctor incoming."
worst person you know makes a good point etc

hudson williams will forever be the first person in history to ever accept a major acting award by noting that the character he portrays loves getting fucked in the ass. nobody can take that from him
jonathan's speech
listen i love HR as much as the next gay and Hudson's speech was great but we can't be rewriting gay history like this on the very first day of pride month đ
Kudos to them both: people keep saying it until it's normalized
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH FROM @FRANCOISARNAUDSOURCE!
I'm sure many bisexual guys feel the same and end up doing as I did: letting other people's assumptions of straightness stand uncorrected. Perhaps out of fear of oversharing. Under the guise of privacy, maybe. Probably because "masculinity" is a most fragile currency, ready to nose-dive at the first sign of vulnerability or difference. And because it's really fucking scary to give up your privilege. Without a doubt because stigmas of indecisiveness, infidelity, deception and trendiness are still clinging to bisexuality. But here's the thing. Silence has the perverse effect of perpetuating those stereotypes, making bi guys invisible, and leading people to doubt that we even exist. No wonder it's still a chore to acknowledge bisexuality without getting into lengthy explanations. So, yes, labels are frustrating and words, imperfect. But I've always considered myself bisexual. Not confused or trying to look edgy. Not disloyal. Not ashamed. Not invisible. - François Arnaud

This is back on my dash! And listen, I love to see Amir Khusrau getting appreciation, but this translation ignores a lot. The original rhymes! And scans! And does playful things with register! And conveys a tone of affectionate banter between the two speakers, not least because it has them both addressing each other as sakhi (translated above as âgirlâ) in the last two lines. I think taking some liberties with line order is worth it to preserve more of the restâand I think thereâs a better translation of sakhi. And so:
He only visits once a year, I splurge big on him when heâs here, His kisses make my tastebuds tango. Who, bitch, your man? Nah, bitch, a mango.

Another shot from photographer Pip. (I never knew photogs, other than Weegee, went by single names. Is he the Madonna of his craft? Or the Prince? I love how all my references are so out of date. LOL).
Anyway, this is attached to an article in the New Yorker. It's paywalled for me. Here's the link.

Aidan Turner Canât Stop Smoldering
The actor discusses toxic masculinity on the second season of "Rivals" and a new adaptation of "Les Liaisons Dangereuses".
by Anna Russell June 1, 2026
The Goring Hotel, near Buckingham Palace, is one of the few remaining places in the capital where you can still receiveâthank God!âthe services of a fleet of uniformed footmen, in spiffy red tailcoats and gold-trimmed waistcoats. There are hedges in the shape of rabbits on the manicured lawn, and occasional visits from a Shetland pony. It is the kind of hotel, one imagines, that the idle aristocrats who populate Christopher Hamptonâs 1985 play, âLes Liaisons Dangereuses,â based on the earlier French novel, might have used for illicit affairs, had they stopped over in London. The footmen would surely be discreet.
One recent afternoon, the Irish actor Aidan Turner, who plays the seedy playboy the Vicomte de Valmont in a new production of the show at the National Theatre, settled into an armchair in the hotelâs lounge. On the wall, a pair of merpeople wore nothing but seashells. Turner was dressed less like a French aristocrat and more like an East London barista: white T-shirt, canvas jacket, high-waisted wool trousers. Bypassing a three-course afternoon-tea menu, he ordered a cup of decaf English Breakfast with sugar. He was already jittery. âAfternoon tea would slow me right down, Iâm going to be honest,â he said. âI need to be light on my toes.â
This is true. Turnerâs Valmont is silver-tongued and fleet-footed, more slippery and charming than previous iterations of the sleazeball by Alan Rickman (the stage) and John Malkovich (the film). Lesley Manville plays the scheming Marquise de Merteuil. âTheyâre both wicked, and they get a lot of satisfaction from manipulating people,â Turner said. He wanted to see if Valmont could win the audience over before revealing his true self. âTraditionally, heâs been played in a way where heâs very muchâwhen you lay eyes on him, heâs a predator,â he said. âWhereas, when heâs quite charming, it sort of challenges the audience.â
Turner had just finished a junket to promote both the play and the second season of âRivals,â Disney+âs adaptation of the raunchy romance novel by Jilly Cooper, the U.K.âs version of Danielle Steel. Like âLiaisons,â âRivalsâ is about rich people having sex, though it is set in the Cotswolds in the nineteen-eighties, rather than pre-revolutionary France. Turnerâs character, Declan OâHara, is a righteous Irish journalist, also loquacious, also hot, but disgusted by ostentatious displays of wealth. âHeâs like the negative to Valmontâs photograph,â he said.
Turner first discovered Cooperâs novels many years ago in an old girlfriendâs country house. The cover of âRivalsâ depicts a lipstick-red high heel digging into a manâs hand; its sequel, âRiders,â features a womanâs backside in polo gear. The images stayed with him. âItâs so eighties,â he said. âOnce you see it, you canât unsee it.â Cooper passed away, at eighty-eight, after the first season, but she was on set for much of the filming. âYou had to get close to Jilly to find out what she was saying,â Turner said. âShe spoke so, so quietly, and then youâd get in there and you would hear the most filthy things! And think, Oh, my God, where is this coming from?â
He added sugar to his tea. âItâs never too far from the characters I play,â he sighed. âItâs always around. Sex.â In the U.K., most people know him as Ross Poldark, the often shirtless mine owner in the BBCâs period romance âPoldark.â In 2015, the show was so popular that it was mentioned repeatedly in the House of Commons. (Example: âLike Poldark, the Prime Minister rode into Cornwallânot on a horse but on a bus.â) Does he consider himself a ladiesâ man? âJesus,â he said. Heâs married, with a toddler. âValmont is probably very aware of how he looks, and plays on that, and whatever. Iâve never felt Iâm that person.â
Groomers like Valmont âtend to hide in plain sight,â Turner continued. âItâs scarier if itâs not, like, an Andrew Tate.â He had watched a recent Netflix documentary about the manosphere. âItâs so interesting to watch these guys. I mean, thereâs a certain amount of charm, I suppose, but theyâre so angry all the time,â he said. âThereâs no craic! Like, who are you dating?â He grew up with a different kind of masculine ideal, representing Ireland in ballroom-dance competitions. âWaltz, tango, quickstep, foxtrot,â he said. âSamba, cha-cha, rumba, paso doble, jive.â
It was almost time to go. He had skillfully avoided the biscuits that came with the tea. (Stay light.) Briefly, he mused about the roles he tends to attract. Why so many charmers, devious or otherwise? âI think itâs just my face,â he said. âMy concentration face comes across as a bit smoldery, but Iâm not trying to do that. Iâm just trying to focus. I think thatâs what it is. Somebody goes, Are you smoldering? No, Iâm listening. Jesus!â âŚ
