Stargate, which received a series order by Prime Video in November 2025, will not be moving forward, Deadline has confirmed.
This makes me so sad! đđđđđđ
This is exactly what i DON'T want. đđđ Let's face it, in 2026 the only people who are interested in checking out a new Stargate show are the ones who have enjoyed the original series. So getting a showrunner who had worked on those was a great sign that promised a continuation all that worldbuilding, but with a new entry point.
If Amazon's issues were so fundamental that notes to the showrunner couldn't bring them into alignment, then i don't want Amazon's version. If there ever is one. đ¤Źđ¤Źđ¤ŹđĄ
If Amazon wanted a total reboot, why not do it from the beginning? If they had, I would have been sad about the choice but I would have understood it because it has been so long, etc. and 'hey, this might suck, but I'll give it a go because sure.'
But to do this? To dangle what we actually want* in our faces and then TAKE IT AWAY????
No, I'll have none.
*And of course, the Gero version still might not have been any good, but at least there would be the warm and fuzzies of the same universe** and the potential for cameos and references to previous characters because we have been living on leftovers for a decade so please, give us the fresh crumbs!
**I also admit the hypocrisy of this statement as someone who did not care for SGU at all in tone or content,*** with it being also tainted by the bitterness of the Atlantis cancellation, so no, the same universe doesn't guarantee a good show. But STILL.
***And maybe it's been long enough that I might give it a fair shot were I to rewatch it now??? I liked Eli. Rush was interesting. Felt sorry for Tamara and the baby. But that was it. At least Rodney appeared for two seconds.
I feel a little bad for being relieved at this news.
At least we can keep what we loved. I am so, so sick of beloved media getting a "modern reboot" that ends up ignoring what made the original great, shoving something I never wanted in my face, and telling me I'm a bad person for not loving it. I don't need some company to tell me who my favorite characters are or why I love them.
Sometimes a show ends before we want it to. Sometimes the show was great for a while, but it tanked for one reason or another. Not every show needs to be brought back. I'd rather a show stay great than be brought back and ruined.
I was not terribly hopeful about the show although Martin Gero was basically the one producer from the original Bridge Boyz Club who didn't seem to hate the female characters or the female fans. I thought maybe it might be a return to the things that made SG1 and early SGA enjoyable rather than the SGU crap. But aside from feeling bad for the staff (this is way late to yank approval, which means people just lost jobs) I'm also somewhat relieved.
reblog if youâve had an online friendship thatâs lasted more than 2 years
Like, 30-ish years? I'd have to do the math, but at least two that have to be at least 30 years. Plenty more in the 20 years range.
27 years and counting for some of them.

âknowing how to write effective AI prompts will be a valuable skill in the futureâ and what if I skip all that and write the email myself in under 30 seconds drawing from my very own biological database of language and rhetoric (my brain)?

#he, in fact, never moved on
My forever darlings.
new chapter!
don't know what you've done to me, chapter 4
An episode-by-episode companion to season 2.
man yâall remember when the avengers movie came out and everyone headcanoned that all the avengers would live together in the tower and had all these cute posts about various fun ways they could interact and then the movies literally never had any of them even be friends
I want to state, for the record, that âall the avengers would live together in the towerâ wasnât collective headcanon, it was canon. The very last scene of Avengers (2012), the one they left us on, is Tony redesigning the tower, designing a living area for each Avenger. That was, canonically, what was supposed to happen, in canon, and they just changed their minds and decided to⌠not. For whatever goldarn reason.
GHHFDGJHFDS THATS EVEN FUNNIER WHY IS MARVEL LIKE THIS
Also it was canon for literal decades in the comics. First it was Avengers Mansion which was Tonyâs Manhattan family home and then Avengers Tower when Tony built it. At one point Avengers Mansion couldnât get their trash carried away because in order to operate in the US they had to be an embassy and NYC trash carriers donât service embassies.
how measurements work in canada (ie/ badly)
Hey, we come by it honestly! My Canadian brain had this problem in London... the street my flat was on had a posted speed limit of 40. Seemed normal for the size of street, that's what it would have been at home. But NO ONE was going 40 on it. They were ALL speeding like lunatics, far too fast for the street and all I could think was do they not enfores speeding laws? Seemed unlikely given the nanny state of things. Then I remembered that they kept mph even though they measure things like walking distance in meters. W...t...f...
In the UK, they measure milk in QUARTS, but milk alternatives like almond milk in liters. I hadn't seen a quart of anything outside the US in over 40 years. (Wait, no, I think quarts of motor oil were a thing till the 90s, but I'm not sure on that)
Here is an article from NPR about it (May 22, 2026):
Carolina Milanesi, an independent technology analyst, said Google is trying to make its cash cow business â search â richer and more personalized, and it will make shopping easier. But there is a risk that users may have fewer choices about what to click. "Right now it's: I ask a question, I get a bunch of answers and I feel that I'm in control as to which answer I take, or if I'm looking for something, which product I'm going to end up buying. That is going to be less so going forward," she said. Milanesi envisions AI-enabled search and agents proposing products to consumers â perhaps even those they have requested â but with less clarity or choice around where it's coming from. "If you're going to say: 'I want a pair of Jordans, go find them,' you're not necessarily sure what steps have been taken and whether the AI has used a source or a store that was paid for and therefore came up in the search results," she said, "or if AI actually went and did their due diligence and picked the best for me as a customer."
And here's one from Time magazine (May 20, 2026):
While Google already has âAI Mode,â the company will now power the whole search bar through its new Gemini 3.5 Flash model. Instead of the classic list of blue links, Google Search will now also generate a custom page with an AI-generated summary of what youâre searching about, which will then trigger a conversation with AI Mode on the main page, allowing users to ask follow-up questionsâsimilar to the kind of layout you would see when opening ChatGPT.
And a little more from Time's article on how this may affect the websites that we are trying to search for:
When Google first started implementing AI-assisted results, news publishers warned of âcatastrophicâ impacts on the industry, much of which relies on Google search to drive users to their websites. Last year, news websites saw significant traffic declines as chatbots increasingly replaced Google search as the primary way to find sites and ask questions. Small businesses also noted drops in traffic to their sites from Google, which has traditionally delivered customers.  Lily Ray, vice president of SEO strategy & research at Amsive, a digital marketing agency, warned as early as last year that Googleâs planned changes to search are âgoing to have a devastating impact on the Internet.â âIt will severely cut into the main source of revenue for most publishers and it will disincentivize content creators who rely on organic search traffic, which is millions of websites, maybe more,â she told Technology Magazine. Â
noai.duckduckgo.com blocks all AI content in search results automatically
So I saw this news last week and finally switched over to duckduckdo and the difference is STAGGERING. It's like...search from 20 years ago. The results I want are at the TOP. I can't believe I waited so long to switch.
agreed, switching to duckduckgo last year was the single best improvement in my life. just remember to change the search settings > manage ai and turn all the different toggles to Off (duck.ai), Never (search assist), and On (Hide ai images)
Just bringing this down from above quotes:
âIt will severely cut into the main source of revenue for most publishers and it will disincentivize content creators who rely on organic search traffic, which is millions of websites, maybe more,â she told Technology Magazine. Â
So when the news sites go out of business, the content creators give up, the only places you can buy things from are the ones big enough to pay Google's going rate for being included in results, and the entire internet has been turned into an AI-generated ouroboros of shit... then what?

Would you consider the hate for AI at the moment âexcessiveâ?
Would you consider the hate for AI at the moment âexcessiveâ?
Yes
No
i think what makes tumblr great now is that nobody gives a shit? Like, there is NOTHING to be gained from being on here except the pure joy of making stuff for people and with people?
If you're on twitter or threads or reddit, and you say, "Oh, I had a terrible experience with Delta Airlines. They canceled my flight and then booked me into a hotel room with a stranger," and you tag Delta, there's a chance Delta Airlines itself will come and apologize. Maybe even give you some SkyMiles or something.
But if you complain about a terrible airline experience on tumblr, all you can hope for is that someone might come along and write slash fiction about two guys who get booked into the same hotel room by Delta Airlines.
You can't gain social capital by being here. Nobody knows who you even ARE because your user name is, like, some randomly generated phrase or else an obscure reference to hockey sex books.
I'm not saying it's perfect, of course. It's a super toxic hellsite that eats the ashes of its former self to survive. But it beats twitter any day, and not only because twitter is owned by a raving mad white supremacist fuckchild.
out of all the great finnish sayings âanyway, onto new disappointmentsâ is my favorite. in constant use in my household of one

doubly funny that I saw a compilation of all the corporate accounts like "aw thanks elmo, we're doing well" meanwhile all the flesh and blood real human people are extremely not okay
Okay but Elmo had actually the best and sweetest response to all this trauma dumping:
And then all the other Sesame Street character accounts joined in:
And now Iâm thinking maybe weâre gonna be okay⌠đ
(Comment compilation from this Twitter)
I kinda feel for the poor person running Elmo's Twitter.
"So, boss... I may have messed up."
"What did you do, Ray?"
"Well, I made a post for Elmo saying 'Hi, how's everybody doing?'"
"I mean, that's kind of what we pay you for."
"Yeah, but.... <sigh> it turns out pretty much everyone is hanging on by a thread, badly enough that they needed to tell Elmo."
"Oh."
"God help me, boss, I think Elmo needs to be there for them."
"Get the others."
this is the energy that jim henson would be proud of.
and important addition

Please donât let fandom ruin something you love. Walk away and unfollow the fans and enjoy the thing by yourself, or find a limited circle of people who ignore the discourse, or get your irl friends into the thing and collectively ignore the Internet community, or blacklist from here to the moon if you need to and only ever scroll through your rarepair shipâs tag on AO3. But donât let fandom distort a show or a movie or a book or a comic you used to love so badly that you canât enjoy the original anymore. Please. It isnât worth it.
