All of this to say I don't understand what people get out of believing in aliens. Like yeah of course the government is lying to you, but about far more pertinent things, such as where your tax dollars are going??? What the hell kind of difference does it make in your daily life if aliens are real? They're not going to give you a better job

Is the actual fantasy an authority figure apologizing? Is it about wanting someone in power to admit they did you wrong?

such a fun question to contemplate… I don’t think he sits there for very long because if you sit there staring blankly off into space that’s basically an admission that you care and were hurt. and I think he has to act at least outwardly like he doesn’t care and wasn’t hurt and isn’t fazed and hollander’s just being uptight/weird/a freak about this which is so typical of him but he’ll definitely get over it and they’ll forget this happened and ilya will never ever call him shane again but for totally normal chill reasons like he just doesn’t want to it’s nbd.
