take this gender quiz I beg you it is literally LIFE CHANGING
Portals to Hell by hrmphfft
IT’S BACK
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THIS AGAIN FOR MONTHS
I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW
ITS BACK
This is one of those posts that you need to save and tag or you’ll never see it again for 84 years.
hey guys look…i found one of those iconic viral Tumblr posts
@hellsite-hall-of-fame
It took me 3 watches to realize the door is cardboard and this man is not just freakishly strong.
I assure you this is a standard interior door, usually only exterior doors are solid.
You can see the inside of the cardboard though.
This isn’t a real door, it’s a prop from a movie or TV set.
it has a paper honeycomb for rigidity, and that’s how interior doors are made for modern construction in the USA.
y'all have never kicked a hole in your bedroom door in a flurry of teenage hormonal rage and it shows
If I kicked my bedroom door I’d more likely break my foot than the door.
I always thought people punching through doors or shoving people through doors was just from the movies. Doors in my country are generally solid planks of wood, a polymer of sorts, or metal.
American homes are made extremely cheaply and aren’t built to last.
Steam from hot showers seeps into wall which are not treated to handle moisture, and mold grows in the walls.
Almost every wall or floor is made out of plywood.
Flimsy roofing that can withstand a run of the mill heavy storm, but not much more than that.
Weak foundations that wouldn’t hold up at all if it weren’t for how light and plywood-y the overall house is.
Not every American house is this shitty in all of these ways, but the vast majority of them are, and almost all of them have at least one of these problems. Even rich people’s homes.
Read this article.

Then watch this video.
Are we just ignoring this original post was about the OP looking for Elf Pussy or are we just totally past that?
It’s already been answered that there is no elf pussy here, so why dwell? 🤷🏾♂️
also if i kicked a hole in my door i would have had my ass beat as a kid so like
So the other night during D&D, I had the sudden thoughts that:
1) Binary files are 1s and 0s
2) Knitting has knit stitches and purl stitches
You could represent binary data in knitting, as a pattern of knits and purls…
You can knit Doom.
However, after crunching some more numbers:
The compressed Doom installer binary is 2.93 MB. Assuming you are using sock weight yarn, with 7 stitches per inch, results in knitted doom being…
3322 square feet
Factoring it out…302 people, each knitting a relatively reasonable 11 square feet, could knit Doom.
Hi fun fact!!
The idea of a “binary code” was originally developed in the textile industry in pretty much this exact form. Remember punch cards? Probably not! They were a precursor to the floppy disc, and were used to store information in the same sort of binary code that we still use:
Here’s Mary Jackson (c.late 1950s) at a computer. If you look closely in the yellow box, you’ll see a stack of blank punch cards that she will use to store her calculations.
This is what a card might look like once punched. Note that the written numbers on the card are for human reference, and not understood by the computer.
But what does it have to do with textiles? Almost exactly what OP suggested. Now even though machine knitting is old as balls, I feel that there are few people outside of the industry or craft communities who have ever seen a knitting machine.
Here’s a flatbed knitting machine (as opposed to a round or tube machine), which honestly looks pretty damn similar to the ones that were first invented in the sixteenth century, and here’s a nice little diagram explaining how it works:
But what if you don’t just want a plain stocking stitch sweater? What if you want a multi-color design, or lace, or the like? You can quite easily add in another color and integrate it into your design, but for, say, a consistent intarsia (two-color repeating pattern), human error is too likely. Plus, it takes too long for a knitter in an industrial setting. This is where the binary comes in!
Here’s an intarsia swatch I made in my knitwear class last year. As you can see, the front of the swatch is the inverse of the back. When knitting this, I put a punch card in the reader,
and as you can see, the holes (or 0′s) told the machine not to knit the ground color (1′s) and the machine was set up in such a way that the second color would come through when the first color was told not to knit.
tl;dr the textiles industry is more important than people give it credit for, and I would suggest using a machine if you were going to try to knit almost 3 megabytes of information.
@we-are-threadmage
Someone port Doom to a blanket
I really love tumblr for this 🙌
It goes beyond this. Every computer out there has memory. The kind of memory you might call RAM. The earliest kind of memory was magnetic core memory. It looked like this:
Wires going through magnets. This is how all of the important early digital computers stored information temporarily. Each magnetic core could store a single bit - a 0 or a 1. Here’s a picture of a variation of this, called rope core memory, from one NASA’s Apollo guidance computers:
You may think this looks incredibly handmade, and that’s because it is. But these are also extreme close-ups. Here’s the scale of the individual cores:
The only people who had the skills necessary to thread all of these cores precisely enough were textile and garment workers. Little old ladies would literally thread the wires by hand.
And thanks to them, we were able to land on the moon. This is also why memory in early computers was so expensive. It had to be hand-crafted, and took a lot of time.
(little old ladies sewed the space suits, too)
Fun fact: one nickname for it was LOL Memory, for “little old lady memory.”
I mean let’s also touch on the Jacquard Loom, if you want to get all Textiles In Sciencey. It was officially created in 1801 or 1804 depending on who you ask (although you can see it in proto-form as early as 1725) and used a literal chain of punch cards to tell the loom which warps to raise on hooks before passing the weft through. It replaced the “weaver yelling at Draw Boy” technique, in which the weaver would call to the kid manning the heddles “raise these and these, lower these!” and hope that he got it right.
With a Jacquard loom instead of painstakingly picking up every little thread by hand to weave in a pattern, which is what folks used to do for brocades in Ye Olde Times, this basically automated that. Essentially all you have to do to weave here is advance the punch cards and throw the shuttle. SO EASY.
ALSO, it’s not just “little old ladies sewed the first spacesuits,” it’s “the women from the Playtex Corp were the only ones who could sew within the tolerances needed.” Yes, THAT Playtex Corp, the one who makes bras. Bra-makers sent us to the moon.
And the cool thing with them was that they did it all WITHOUT PINS, WITHOUT SEAM RIPPING and in ONE TRY. You couldn’t use pins or re-sew seams because the spacesuits had to be airtight, so any additional holes in them were NO GOOD. They were also sewing to some STUPID tight tolerances-in our costume shop if you’re within an eighth of an inch of being on the line, you’re usually good. The Playtex ladies were working on tolerances of 1/32nd of an inch. 1/32nd. AND IN 21 LAYERS OF FABRIC.
The women who made the spacesuits were BADASSES. (and yes, I’ve tried to get Space-X to hire me more than once. They don’t seem interested these days)
This is fascinating. I knew there was a correlation between binary and weaving but this just takes it to a whole nother level.
I’m in Venice, Italy several times a year (lucky me!) and last year I went on a private tour of the Luigi Bevilacqua factory. Founded in 1875, they still use their original jacquard looms to hand make velvet. Here are the looms:
Here are the punch cards:
Some of these looms take up to 1600 spools. That is necessary to make their many different patterns. Here are some patterns:
How many punchcards per pattern?
This many:
Modern computing owes its very life to textiles - And to women. From antiquity weaving has been the domain of women. Sure, we remember Ada Lovelace and Hedy Lamarr, but while Joseph Marie Jacquard gets all the credit for his loom, the operators and designers were for the most part women.
I’ve seen this cross my dash a few times, but I’ve never watched the video before. Maybe I just didn’t pay attention when I was a kid, but I don’t remember ever seeing just how the Jacquard loom works. I just knew that the punch cards controlled which threads were raised. It’s cool to see the how, not just the what.
Don’t hide this in the tags, @drylime :D
Thank you so much for sharing this! I’d seen it before, but didn’t save it, and I want to share this with my Girl Scout Cadettes. We’re doing the Think Like a Programmer leadership journey, and these are great examples of thinking like a programmer without having to do the coding.

Bread is basically just flour + yeast + liquid right..?
Gatorade bread.
You ever have one of those “what am I doing with my life?” moments
I was a fool. I thought this would be a bad idea. This is the BEST GODDAMN BREAD I’ve EVER made??? It’s fluffy, it’s chewy, it’s got a perfectly crisp crust. The only flavor it has is vaguely sweet. I’ve already eaten the whole loaf.
@copperbadge …?
I’m not surprised it came out well! Compared to other liquids you can use for yeasted bread, like beer or milk, Gatorade is remarkably non-complex. As others have pointed out, it’s primarily water, sugar, and salt, with a bit of citric acid; you can actually make your own gatorade by adding a shot of vinegar, a teaspoon of salt, and a tablespoon of sugar to 20oz of water. The ancient Romans had a variant of this they called Posca.
I’m not a chemist or indeed a professional baker but I suspect that the reason OP had such success is that the sugar and salt are great for feeding the yeast and stabilizing/strengthening the dough, and in Gatorade they’ve been mixed in really well so they’re super absorbable. And look at what a fun color it is!

In Japanese, they don’t say “moon,” they say “tsuki,” which literally translates to “moon,” and I think that’s how language works.
Ok this post kills me every time I see it because it’s a variation of the in x language we don’t say “I love you,” we say “xyz” instead meme.
But see: Natsume Soseki, a famous Japanese novelist, translated “I love you” as “the moon is beautiful” saying that for a Japanese person, it will suffice.
While directly translated as “The Moon is Beautiful”, the phrase “Tsuki ga Kirei Desu ne.“ (月が綺麗ですね。, lit. “The Moon is Beautiful, Isn’t it?”) is a famous Japanese way to say “I love you”. The phrase was translated by Meiji-era novelist and teacher Natsume Sōseki since he believed that two people in love do not need direct words to convey their feelings. (Wikipedia)
Japanese is considered a graceful language (or as I like to say, indirect to the point you’re dancing in circles around each other) and the explanation for this translation goes:
夏目漱石は、二人で同じものを同じように美しいと思い、心を通わすことで愛を確認できると考えた。 ストレートな言葉でなくても意思疎通できるという考えには、日本人的な奥ゆかしさが表れている。
There is an interesting anecdote about him. When he was an English teacher, he told his students to translate “I love you” into “The moon is beautiful, isn’t it?” Soseki Natsume believed that when two people look at the same thing and feel the same way about it, they can connect to each other. He thought that we can understand each other without direct words. This idea shows the grace of the Japanese language. (Asahi Nihongo)
So in Japanese, they don’t say “moon,” they say “tsuki,” which literally translates to “moon,” but also in Japanese they don’t say “I love you,” they say “Tsuki ga Kirei Desu ne,” which translates to “the moon is beautiful” and the irony of this post kills me, I fucking love languages so much.

Dyscalculia is a learning disability, a lot like dyslexia, but with math and numbers. Everyone knows what dyslexia is, but for some reason, dyscalculia isn’t as well known. I want people to know about this so no more kids are gonna believe uneducated adults who tells them that they’re just lazy and no more kids are going to think they’re just hopeless idiots when they try and try but just can’t understand. It happened to me, and I won’t let it happen to anyone else.
It’s surprisingly common and is often linked to ADHD. If you’ve ever had issues, look it up - you might find things fall into place for you, too.
Difficulty reading analog clocks[14]
Inability to comprehend financial planning or budgeting, sometimes even at a basic level; for example, estimating the cost of the items in a shopping basket or balancing a checkbook.
Inconsistent results in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Difficulty with multiplication, subtraction, addition, and division tables, mental arithmetic, etc.
Problems with differentiating between left and right.
A “warped” sense of spatial awareness, or an understanding of shapes, distance, or volume that seems more like guesswork than actual comprehension.
Difficulty with time, directions, recalling schedules, sequences of events. Difficulty keeping track of time. Frequently late or early.
Poor memory (retention & retrieval) of math concepts; may be able to perform math operations one day, but draw a blank the next. May be able to do book work but then fails tests.
Difficulty reading musical notation. Difficulty with choreographed dance steps.
Having particular difficulty mentally estimating the measurement of an object or distance (e.g., whether something is 3 or 6 meters (10 or 20 feet) away).
When writing, reading and recalling numbers, mistakes may occur in the areas such as: number additions, substitutions, transpositions, omissions, and reversals.
Inability to grasp and remember mathematical concepts, rules, formulae, and sequences.
Inability to concentrate on mentally intensive tasks.
I can’t even comprehend what it might be like being a human who doesn’t have all of these characteristics. I don’t know how a brain can possibly just “remember” how to do long division or know what ten feet looks like.
I can’t even accept that a car is more than like nine feet long. Ours is fifteen feet long, and even standing next to it, my brain is POSITIVE it’s small enough to fit in a bathroom.
This is the most me thing I’ve ever read on this site. I can’t read analog clocks I can’t recall number sequences etc.
I remember reading a book where a character had this and my whole life fell into place. Being the kid of people who work with math a lot (Mom was a math major for crying out loud) and being ‘bad at math’ sucked. I never understood why I couldn’t do what everyone in my class could.
Sadly, I didn’t figure this out until after I was out of school.

Now that pumpkin spice is back in season, and so are colds and flus, let's talk about some of the other common Autumn spices - cinnamon, clove, and ginger.
Cinnamon is known to be antispasmodic as well as antibacterial. Some people do take cinnamon in capsule form as an herbal supplement to help control blood sugar.
Clove is high in antioxidants, may alleviate tooth pain, and also may help support healthy blood sugar levels.
Ginger has gained popularity for it's anti inflammatory properties as of late for arthritis and other ailments. It's also a common anti nausea fighter and stomach settler. Also useful for easing menstrual cramps!
And why not stir all that goodness into a warm cup of tea on a chilly autumn day?
HOW 2 TORRENT
so! disney+ is a thing but you don’t want to give the mouse your money? i completely sympathise. here’s a list of things not to do, because that would be illegal :o
1) get a torrent client. i’d recommend deluge – it’s free, it’s lightweight, and it doesn’t make you watch ads.
2) there are tons of sites to torrent stuff from, but by far the most famous is the pirate bay. the url changes fairly often, but it’s easily googleable. here is a link that works as of my typing this post up. it should look like this:
3) type something in and search! for example:
as you can see, there are tons of results. what you’re most interested in, though, is the SE column – that shows how many people are uploading the file/s. torrenting works on a peer-to-peer basis, meaning that you can’t download a file unless somebody else is uploading it. fortunately, for anything remotely mainstream, there will be seeders. ideally, you want a file with the most seeders (SE) and the fewest leechers (LE). in this case, “leechers” just means people who are downloading the torrent. the more leechers and the fewer seeders, the slower the download.
4) click on the magnet button for the file you want to download. deluge should give you a window like this:
click “add”, and the file will start to download! depending on how many seeders there are, it might take a while, but the good thing about torrents is that you can pause the download and shut your computer down without corrupting any of the files.
5) and you’re done! but obviously don’t do any of this because that’s illegal. :/
N.B. it’s generally easier to download a whole season or series of a show than it is a single episode. if you only want a particular episode, download the season/series then just delete all the episodes you don’t want lmao
@secretagentofcaos yes you can, thank you for reminding me! here’s how you do that:
this is the screen for when i was torrenting a tv show a while back. as you can see, i went to the “files” tab on the bottom half of the screen, which shows all the folders and files in the torrent. to stop a file from downloading, simply right-click on it and select “do not download”.
–
@theasphodelmeadows yes there is! basically, you look at the comments of the torrent you want to download. you find the comments by clicking on the name of the torrent, which should give you a page like this:
scroll down and see if there are any comments. if the torrent is bad, you’ll very often get people saying so. if there aren’t any comments, that’s fine – once again, look at the ratio of seeders to leechers. the more seeders and the more leechers a torrent has, the more likely it is to be legit, but to make sure, definitely install a decent antivirus and have it scan everything you download.
oh, and this should go without saying, but just in case: use an adblocker, ideally ublock origin. privacy badger is another good extension to use. and if you have a vpn, use that when you’re torrenting for an extra level of privacy.
Can I add to this? Another good place to download torrents is RARBG. It’s got basic same layout as piratesbay. There’s also https://yts.mx/ which has lightweight movies in pretty good quality. But only movies!
Also there are several accounts on twitter (such as @ logolessdesres and @ downloadinhd) or even tumblr accs ( @ hd-source and @ logolesmxtionpicture) that post download links to movies/series through mega nz. Which, if you are in Germany, is your best way. If you are from Germany, do not torrent stuff without a VPN installed, and even then, better not risk it!
But I mean. Don’t do any of this stuff, it’s illegal.
excellent addition here, particularly the germany bit
To avoid the virus stuff, you can first download the movie in your phone and then transfer it to your laptop. Although, I have only used android phone, so can’t say anything about an kidney consumer iPhone. Plus, use a mini browser like DuckDuckGo.

Friendly reminder that GIMP does pretty much everything Photoshop does, and it’s 100% free. Fuck DRM and the license culture, we have plenty of open source options available to us as a consumer.

Blender is an excellent freeware 3D renderer, possibly better than After Effects
