Chronic pain things for your whumpees
It hurts before and during every storm, rain, and snow
Stiff knees have a hard time balancing your weight, meaning going down stairs is not only more painful but far more difficult than going up. I don't know the math, but thems the rules
Many conditions don't solely come with pain and fatigue, but also sudden muscle weakness. Something that wasn't heavy yesterday now is!
Pain can range from dull and persistent, to sharp and spotty. From personal experience, muscle pain hurts the least, then joint/bones, then neuropathy. Of course they can all hurt a ton
Migraines also cause dizziness, nausea, light sensitivity, snowy vision, blurry vision, and seeing halos/aura
Your pain tolerance becomes stronger since you're always in pain
This also means describing pain is much more difficult
Inflammation turns pressure into pain, even down to one's salivary glands stinging from the pressure of salivating
Standing is exhausting
Sitting is less exhausting
Horizontal time is the least exhausting
Sleep disorders become more common
Spending time on the same task for too long equals pain and stiffness
Waking up automatically comes with pain and stiffness, every single day
I found that website I was talking about earlier!!! Itâs called the âkabedon floor simulatorâ and it visually compares the height difference between 2 characters when one character lays on top of another. Very helpful for art and self shipping and the like !
the ONE BIG THING THEY DONT TELL YOU WHEN YOU START WRITING is that you gotta be OKAY with deleting and editing. Not just prepared for it, not steeling yourself enough for it, you have to be OKAY with it. It has to be NORMAL. You have to go into it thinking that EVERYTHING is a rough draft that will be part of a CONTINUOUSLY EVOLVING piece.
And I mean this in every part of writing.
Iâve spent HOURS stuck on sentences I didnât want to revise, chapters I didnât want to admit didnât fit into my narrative, even whole PLOTLINES that I had previously mapped out.
The point is, if youâre stuck because it feels wrong, it feels wrong for a reason.
and as a writer, you have to be used to the thought that not every idea needs to be there. because thatâs how you end up refining the story you want to tell.

New Project
Hi All,
This is NOT an April Fool's joke even though I'm posting it April 1st.
I have a new project I'm working on, probably the biggest I've ever attempted. It's a book about writing low resource/field medicine.
I'm hoping to rough draft a chapter a month, and I want to be held accountable. The chapters are too big to fit into posts, so I'm posting them to a Google doc.
New chapters drop the first of the month. You can read them here:
Table of Contents: (each body system/topic has the following sections: introduction, diagnostics, problems, and procedures) Introduction Ho
Which tense & PoV do you like most for visual novels?
1st Person/Past (e.g. I went to the shops...)
1st Person/Present (e.g. I go to the shops...)
2nd Person/Past (e.g. You went to the shops..)
2nd Person/Present (e.g. You go to the shops..)
3rd Person/Past (e.g. MC went to the shops...)
3rd Person/Present (e.g. MC goes to the shops...)
Note: This is for when there's a distinct main character, not a self-insert
This is a really interesting question to me, because in prose I prefer 3rd Person/Past tense but the majority of visual novels I play have it as 1st Person/Present, and then CYOA novels are mostly 2nd Person/Past
I'm always interested in preferences surrounding tense and PoV because I've heard the same criticisms from different people about different combinations, so it seems quite subjective
One thing Iâve noticed abt the Loki series (after finishing season 1; please no s2 spoilers) is that it isnât something completely grand and new. Itâs completely unapologetic abt sometimes doing cheesy 2010s stuff like âromanceâ or âredemption arcs.â Iâve hardly been shocked while watching, but im having a wonderful time. I think the show actually mightâve been more successful had it come out todayâwith more people talking about how much tv and movies have gone downhill and how much they miss the old wholesome stuff.
That being said, there is one moment that shocked me. Like jaw-dropping totally caught me off guard. During the last episode of the season, while Loki and Sylvie are fighting. The writing, the cinematography, the actingâall freaking PEAK. But what gets me the most is when Sylvie accuses Loki of just wanting another throne. And he says, âI donât want a throne.â And Iâm thinking, ah. Another old romance trope, huh? âI donât want X, I want you.â Classic. Even though itâs always been slightly off, because it is ultimately self-centered, it gets the job done, right? Shows that thereâs been at least some character growth.
But Loki, my freaking goodness, turns the whole thing on its head.
âI just want you to be okay.â
Suddenly itâs different. Suddenly itâs not self-centered. Suddenly itâs not about himself at all. Itâs one of the gentlest, healthiest, most sincere and most beautiful I love yous Iâve ever heard in the world of media. Delivered by Loki Laufeyson, of all people.
