level 2: the lost boys follows a not uncommon horror movie trend where monstrous and villainous characters are associated with alt fashion or other counter-culture signifiers, which may also call to mind an association with queerness as it exists in conflict with cishet cultural norms. this, intentionally or unintentionally, helps to position queerness as an evil threat to the status quo in the minds of viewers. while a lot of queer people end up seeing themselves in these characters in a positive way, its inappropriate to talk about how cool gay vampires are without at least acknowledging the implications of this in relation to the long history of queer-coded villains in film.
level 3: the lost boys is actually all a clever subversion of the aforementioned trope; while on the surface michael is positioned as the classic disaffected youth, child of divorce (this and him being in the care of a single mother helping to introduce the idea that his vampirism ie latent homosexuality starts with this initial failure to uphold conservative family values), falling in with the wrong crowd who corrupt him and creates a rift between him and his family, the twist of the movie reveals that the vampire gang exists under the authority of the head vampire who himself has all the signifiers of the wholesome middle class all-american dad figure. this recontextualizes the queer-coding of the vampires from a gang of wild subversives to a group of kids who, like michael, were most likely struggling with some sort of instability in their home lives and were groomed into vampirehood by their sire, the symbol of the father they perhaps lacked. the precious but fragile unity that exists among these outsiders cannot survive, not because a more normative family structure has some special thing they lack, but because they are chasing an idea of family that despite their counter-cultural leanings hasnt been meaningfully disentangled from patriarchy, as embodied by their literal patriarch.

every time a young gay person quits smoking or makes the decision that they want to quit, the sun shines on us all with the promise of happiness and beauty.
i appreciate everybody that’s sharing the sentiment that it’s good for anyone to quit smoking (it is) but i very specifically wanted to highlight and encourage LGBTQ youth because lesbian, gay, and bisexual people are about 1.5 to 2.5 times more likely to smoke cigarettes than heterosexual people, and the statistics for transgender people are even higher than cisgender people. this is due to tobacco companies marketing heavily and aggressively to LGBTQ communities and exploiting the higher rates of mental health struggles prevalent in our communities.
i want and hope to see all my LGTBQ people live long, healthy, fulfilled lives despite how predatory and punishing this world can be. you should stay around as long as you can to make it a little better in your own way.

My hand shook as I held up the pregnancy test in front of me to get a better look. It's positive. Two blue lines. Oh my God.
The last couple of months have been so much better, normal, since my tipsy bar room confession. My heart and my shoulders have felt lighter knowing that no matter what Eddie loves, me supports me and is happy with just me. Not that I didn't already know that, I always have deep down, but sometimes you just get in your own head and become your own worse enemy, especially when your feeling emotional, vulnerable.
Our relationship has mended, it wasn't ever really damaged, maybe just a little strained and we are back to being lovesick fools that can't get enough of each other. But now it's on our terms and not scheduled according to a chart. In fact life has been so wonderful again I hadn't even realized how long it had been since my last cycle...
And now that things are back to normal again, everything is about to change......
My heart was pounding in my chest. Is this really real?I need to be sure before I get my hopes up, before I tell Eddie..
I grabbed another test and took it, and then another, each one with the same results, two blue lines. I'm pregnant, really,truly pregnant.
Tears welled up in my eyes but this time they were tears of joy. I'm going to be a Mom. Finally. I was so happy I felt like I could burst!
Nancy was right, we just needed a little more time.
I dabbed at my eyes and let out a deep breath trying to slow my rapidly beating heart. I've got to tell Eddie! He's going to be so excited -
So many emotions hit me at once, excitement, happiness, anxiety - what if there is a problem with the pregnancy? No, no, I'm not going to do this to myself. I'm going to let myself enjoy this moment, this moment I have been waiting so long for.
I bit my lip and actually tried to remember my last period, when had it been? Right after we came back from our weekend with the Harringtons. But after that? How the hell did I miss it? I did throw out the calendar vowing that we were just going to go with the flow, and let things happen naturally, I guess I just wasn't paying attention....?
It is likely because I have been so distracted by a sexy older man, with the body of a god and the most beautiful brown eyes in the world? A man with a silver tongue that can turn me into a puddle of goo just by whispering the sweetest or dirtiest words into my ear? There had been an awful lot of that recently.......
I grabbed the tests off the sink and buried them in the trash. I wanted to surprise Eddie with the news, I had to figure out how. We have been waiting so long that it deserves a big reveal. Eddie didn't screw around when he had done special things for me, he proposed at a Corroded Coffin reunion concert for God sakes then brought me back to a hotel room that had been decorated with candles and rose petals.....
I sighed. I would think of something. But keeping this a secret..that would be rough.
I turned and looked at myself in the full length mirror on the back of the bathroom door and placed a hand lightly over my belly. " I can't believe I'm going to be a Mom, your Mom! I will do everything I can to make sure you are happy and healthy in there." I smiled to myself." And your Dad, he's amazing. You are going to love him. He is going to be so excited when he finds out about you."
My heart melted at the thought of him holding a baby, our baby. I wonder if it will be a boy or a girl? Are we going to find out the gender or is it going to be a surprise? Holy shit, I'm going to need to make an obstetrician appointment, and I'm going to have to find daycare, and there will be maternity leave.......
I took in a deep breath. Everything will work out, everything will be fine because I have Eddie and we are a team I am not in this alone. This was going to be amazing and through it all I would have Eddie by my side.

Baby Daddy!Eddie who definitely cried when he held her for the first time. Swaddled in pink as he stared down at her tiny little face.
“She’s so beautiful, baby. We fucking made her. Isn’t that crazy?”
Baby Daddy!Eddie who makes everyone wash their hands before holding the baby.
“Can I hold her?” Robin coos as she looks over at the new baby lovingly as you her cradled in your arms.
“Sure.” You smile, ready to let your friends bond with your new daughter.
“As a privilege of being the fun uncle, I get dibs on holding her first!” Dustin exclaims, raising his hand in the air.
“No one is gonna hold her until you wash your hands.” Eddie interjects protectively “Warm water and extra soap! Scrub for at least twenty seconds. You’re not getting my kid sick with your disgusting germy hands. Especially you, Henderson.”
Baby Daddy!Eddie who tries to stay calm as everyone holds her but is literally a nervous wreck.
“Henderson, support her head!”
“What? I am!”
“…Well, I don’t like the way you’re doing it. Give her back.”
Baby Daddy!Eddie who watches you like a creep as you nurse.
“Eds,” you call out, looking down at your daughter as you try to get her to latch onto your nipple “You’re staring.”
“Well, what do you expect me to do when you’ve got your tits out like that?” He replies incredulously “Hey kid, daddy calls next when you’re done.”
“Eddie!”
“What? There’s enough of you for both the of us.”
Baby Daddy!Eddie who loves being referred to as ‘daddy.’ Both in regard to his new role as a father and…..sexually.
“Look, baby! It’s daddy! Can you say hi to daddy?” You coo, using your newly discovered “mommy” voice.
“Good morning, Princess.” He smiles, leaning in to kiss your daughter on the forehead.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart. Daddy didn’t forget about you.” He flirts, giving you a wink before he walks off to the kitchen to start breakfast- playfully smacking your ass as he passes by.
It was shit like this that had gotten you pregnant in the first place.

“Eddie, I just think we need to go over our options here. We’re going to have to enroll her in daycare when I go back to work. I-“
“Nuh-uh. Nope. Absolutely not.”
“I know you don’t like the idea but it’s the only option. Wayne sleeps during the day, you also work…I think it’ll be fine.”
“Fine? You think dropping her off every day at some filthy indoor jungle gym just for her to get chomped on by some little shithead and potentially catch the bubonic plague will be fine?”
“Okay, that’s a little dramatic.”
“For good reason. No daycare. You and the baby are staying home where I know you’ll both be safe.”
“But, Eddie, I can’t not work. I need-“
“What you need to do, baby, is let your man take care of you. It’ll be a little tight financially but we’ll make it work. My job is to provide for you and the princess. Your job, my queen, is to take care of my kid….and potentially give me more. Which, by the way, you’ve been slacking on.” He jokes.
“Eddie, we just had a baby six months ago.” You snort
“And we’re already three months behind on cooking up a second one. We’ve got some major catching up to do.”
Baby Daddy!Eddie who’s tells you that he’s joking about having another baby so soon but he’s not.
Baby Daddy!Eddie who loses his fucking mind when your daughter says her first words.
“Holy shit! Babe, come here! Babe!!”
“What? What’s wrong?” You ask, breathless as you run to see what was going on.
“She’s talking!” Eddie exclaims “Listen. Hey princess, who am I? Can you say ‘dada?”
Your daughter just gurgles, smiling up at her dad as he tries to coach her into saying it.
“C’mon you little gremlin, I know you can do it. Da…da. Dada.”
But more gurgling ensues.
“Look, I swear she just said it! She’s playing mind-games, babe. It’s weaponized incompetence. Or gaslighting. Whatever those fucking therapy terms are!”
“Eddie, she’s six months old.”
“And she’s already got her manipulation tactics mastered! It only gets more advanced from here. If she gets any smarter, we’re fucked!”
“Fu…fu”
Eddie looks down at his daughter with wide eyes “Uh-oh.”
“Way to go, Eddie. Our daughter’s first word is going to be a cuss word. Nice.”
“Shit. Sorry!”
Baby Daddy!Eddie who doesn’t let being a dad stop him from doing things or hanging out with his friends. If he’s got something planned, he’ll bring her along.
“And you approach a heavily-vined door. It casts a faint green glow and cannot be opened without a key, which, you do not have. You can either try to open it with a spell that you can only cast once or you can try to smash it open with a warhammer. What do you choose, Dustin the Bard?”
“Um….fuck…”
“Language, Henderson. I’m already on thin ice with the Divine Ruler at home. If the Princess of Destruction here learns one more swear word, it’s my ass, okay?”
Eddie looks over at his daughter who was sitting contentedly in her high chair with a snack and Dustin’s dwarf bard miniature that she refused to let go of.
“Alright…um…I choose to cast a spell.”
Your daughter then blows a raspberry before giggling.
“I know, right?” Eddie replies, shaking his head “Of course Uncle Dusty would waste a perfectly good spell on a door. Fucking stupid idea.”
Your daughter giggles, waving a Cheeto Puff in her tiny hand.
“Dada!” She babbles, stretching her Cheeto hand out to Eddie who goes gooey at the sight, leaning over to let his munchkin pop the snack into his open mouth.
“Mmm delicious. Even though that one was a little soggy. I appreciate you sharing though, sweetheart.” He says, stroking his daughter’s chubby cheek with the pad of his thumb “Alright, let’s wrap this up. It’s almost Mini Ruler’s bedtime and we still have to do a bath tonight.”
