David had warned him for it. David had told him that he had to feed. That at one point it would no longer be a choice, that at one point he would just feed - no matter who he was feeding upon.
It had been a little painful that one night when his hunger finally snapped, weeks after the other boys had been killed by the Frog brothers. Max had been killed too, yet somehow Michael had not changed back.
Star had theorised that maybe killing David had been what caused him to stay a half vampire.
At that point, months ago now, he had cared about it. Now, with his family killed by his own hands, Star and Laddie having run of god knows where, the Frog brothers spending their time in hiding, he really did not care. The blood he had spilled in the last few months was more than he could count or could remember.
He simply didn't care anymore.
He wanted blood.
And he would get it.
At least, that's what he thought. He was convinced his undead life was supposed to be this easy, stilling his bloodlust and enjoying whatever the night could give him.
Then he met them, a mere human causing him to stop and think. Something he hadn't done in months. He didn't understand why he suddenly cared about something - someone he reminded himself - that was supposed to be his meal.
Still, there was something about this human. They'd bumped into him at the boardwalk, rushing to go on some ride. Normally this would have been enough for Michael to hunt them down, but something stopped him. There was a look in this human's eyes, a sense of familiarity, a sense that Michael belonged or could belong.
So, for that one night he let them live.
The night after he saw them again, laughing with friends at the concert. They had a nice laugh, that was for certain.
The wind had picked up, and Michael had found it incredibly difficult to not immediately rush towards this human and drain them dry. A mouthwatering smell of hot, warm blood, combined with the sweetness of chocolate and a certain spicyness had filled his nostrils, causing him to pick the closest human he could find and draining them right there and then.
He didn't know what it would take yet, but he would get this human. No matter what. Maybe, he thought, he could be charismatic in the way David had been, luring the unsuspecting human in and slowly turning them.
Maybe he could hypnotise them, like he had seen in the movies, making them like Michael before they even properly knew eachother.
He grinned, following the human at a distance, making sure he knew where to find them. Where to watch over them. Where to find them if they were ever trying to run.
His human lived alone - a fact that pleased him more than he cared to admit - in a small apartement at the second floor of a three-level building. Eventhough his human had some friends down at the boardwalk, they spent a majority of the time alone.
Good, Michael thought. His human - something he had come to call them, not knowing their name and yet already feeling possesive over them - had just moved here. Boxes still lingered in the apartement. Michael knew he had yet to meet all the other neighbours, giving him an idea.
He killed one of the neighbours, dropping their drained body in front of the cemetary gates - a fitting place, he thought. Besides, he was only helping the public services here. The body was already at the right place.
With the neighbour out of the way, Michael took up residence in the now empty apartement next to his Human's.
The next night, he ended up ordering pizza - something that was beneficial both ways. He could eat the delivery guy, then ask his new neighbour if they wanted some pizza because 'he had ordered to much'.
He felt almost nervous when he shoved the drained delivery guy inside his closet, grabbing the box from the table. He walked out of the door, making sure there was no blood visible on his clothes.
Then, he knocked.
Then, his human opened the door.
They were prettier than he had remembered, only seeing them in the distance at the boardwalk, or under bright neonlights. In the warm yellowish light of the hallway his human had something almost ethereal.
"Can I help you?"
"Hi, I'm Michael, from next door? I ordered to much pizza, and I noticed you'd just moved in. Do you want some?"
He sounded normal. More human than he had done in months. He wore an easy smile.
His human was taken aback, before nodding. "That'd be great, actually. I haven't had the time to grab anything to eat yet. Do- eh, do you want to come in? I've got some plates somewhere."
Michael grinned, following his human inside the appartement. Now he only had to show his most charming self and he would be in.
Oh, and Michael was in more than he realised. His human had noticed him on the boardwalk, observing them from a distance ever since they bumped into each other. His human had felt nervous, realising that they liked the way Michael had looked, that they liked the air of danger that hung around him. Still, his human hadn't dared to approach him, scared that he might blow them off.
Luckily he had nothing to worry about. Michael wanted them more than anything. Whether that was alive or dead, he wasn't sure yet. Still, he knew, that no matter what he would do in the future, he would regret not having this human close.
In the weeks that passed, Michael spent more and more time with his human. Not that his human always knew about it. They had no idea that they were being followed whenever they went outside. They had no idea that the reason their window wouldn't close properly anymore, was because every single night a vampire would enter their room through that window. They had no idea.
Michael however, knew more and more certain that this human was definitely going to be his. He didn't want to wait any longer than he had to. He knew his human had barely any ties to others around Santa Carla. He knew his human spent the majority of his time alone.
Soon he would have them, properly.
Somewhere safe where nothing could hurt them.
Somewhere where no one would find them.
Somehwere where only Michael could enter.
This human was going to be his. Mind, body and soul.
As he watched over the sleeping form of his human, more fragile looking than he remembered himself ever being, he lifted them from their bed, wrapping their blanket around them, as he flew off into the night sky, carrying them towards the deepest parts of the cave.
The hospitalroom was quiet when Lucy entered, followed by a doctor. It was the same woman as the night before, smiling kindly as she saw the two siblings.
"I've got some good news, Stephanie," she said as she overlooked some documents. "You're looking good. If you want, you can go home right now. I do want to see you for a check up in two weeks, but until then I declare you healthy." She ended with a teasing grin, causing Stephanie to crack a small smile, despite everythjng she was feeling. The confusion, the guilt, the fear of what would happen if anyone else knew...
Then, of course, going home meant staying with her mom and her brothers. Her grandpa. People she had hardly seen in the last two years. If she was being honest, she hadn't even thought about writing or calling her mom or Sam while she was away. Sometimes she called Mike, but the more involved she became with JD, the less she had called him. And now she was supposed to be living with them again.
How was she going to do that?
"Your grandfather cleaned out the attick, and made it into a pretty big room when he knew you were going to stay with us," Lucy told her daughter softly, "We still need to paint it, but I figured you'd like a hand in that."
Stephanie nodded.
"You're ready to go home then?"
"Yeah."
When Stephanie answered, Lucy immediately signed the necessary papers. The doctor said her goodbyes, leaving the small family behind.
Lucy had noticed the tense atmosphere in the room when she'd entered. She'd seen the tears on her daughter's face, the worried look on her son's face. She knew Michael now knew the truth. She just hoped, if possible, she could get let in as well.
She had been horrified when she had gotten the call that her daughter was in the hospital. Michael had called the restaurant she and Max had been dining at. She had imagined many horror-scenarios when the server asked her to come to the phone - a fight between Sam and Michael, an accident, Nanook running off - but she had never expected to hear that her daughter was injured. Stephanie had always, despite her curiosity and the incidents that were caused by it, been careful. She was calculating. Despite all the little incidents, she'd hardly ever been injured. And she had never been so seriously injured a band-aid wouldn't be able to fix it.
So, for her to end up in the hospital, it must have been bad. It had been. Michael and Sam had already left when Lucy entered the room last night. Stephanie had been asleep, and Lucy was partially glad for that. The bandages, the burns, the eye covered in bandages... it looked horribly painful. When the doctor had told her what, according to the medical files, had happened, Lucy had been horrified. Her daughter had been this close to dying. A bomb...
She had also been glad for the way Max had been caring and understanding. He'd driven her to the hospital, offering to walk with her to the room. It was the moment he told her he had four adopted sons himself and that he could imagine how hard this must be for her. He had waited patiently outside, simply being there for her without any expectations in return.
Max presence had been the only good thing about that night. Lucy had cried for her daughter, wondering what could have happened for her to end up like that. It was Max who had suggested that Michael might know. He had then offered to bring her home, telling her to take the next couple of days off to help her daughter.
Lucy walked up the stairs, leading her daughter towards her new room. The attickroom was large and open. A round window facing the boardwalk brightened the room. In one corner was an empty bookcase and a desk. In the middle of the room, with the headboard against the only straight wall, stood a queensize bed. A bright coloured carpet laid beneath it.
"Mom?" Stephanie asked quietly, sounding tired and smaller than she had wanted to. "I'm sorry..."
"Oh, sweetheart," Lucy turned to look at Stephanie, pulling her close. She knew what her daughter had been trying to say. "You have nothing to be sorry for. You're here now, and I'm very happy to have you home again. It was quiet without you."
Steph smiled weakly. "Still... I-"
"No. Really, hon, don't be sorry. You were busy with studying. Every parent knows that that leads to less contact. Your dorm-spokeperson, or well - a girl named Heather? - called your grandfather this morning, telling him that she'd packed your stuff and mailed it to Santa Carla."
"That's... nice," Steph said slowly, wondering which Heather had sund it. She couldn't imagine Heather Green sending it, after JD had threathened her. Maybe Smith had been kind enough to handle what needed to be handled. Smith always had been the nicest of Heather her friends.
"Max, my boss, gave me a couple of days off. If you want, and you're feeling up to it, we can go and buy some stuff for your room tomorrow."
"Mike mentioned money was tight. This is fine, mom. Really."
He hadn't, but Stephanie wasn't stupid. She knew a divorce was expensive, and she knew her dad had managed to get the better deal. Eventhough he was supposed to pay childsupport for Sam still, she was certain he wouldn't. Grandpa wasn't rich either, and her mom had just moved here and found a new job. No, big expenses only to update her room? Right now they weren't needed.
"If you're sure honey," she smiled gently. "I was planning on eating dinner around six thirty. Michael wanted to go to the boardwalk. Maybe you want to go out as well?"
Stephanie nodded, not knowing what she'd do yet. "I think I'll just nap for now," she said looking at her new bed. It looked beyond inviting. And she had been so tired lately...
"Mom, it's worse than we thought," Michael declared as he entered the kitchen, seeing his mother preparing their dinner. He told her what his sister had told him - or atleast, the big lines of the story. Lucy didn't need to know that technically speaking her daughter was a killer. Her abusive ex-boyfriend was.
As Michael left and she was once again alone in the room, she couldn't help but cry.
Was this family cursed? How could it be that her little girl had escaped most of the abuse at home, only to end up in her own abusive relationship hundreds of miles away? How could it be that someone looked at her daughter and wanted to hurt her?
Had she raised her children in a way that made it easy for predators to sniff them out? Was she, if everything was taken into account, to blame for the fate of her children?
If she'd known about the physical abuse of her ex-husband earlier, before she caught that glimps of a gigantic bruise on Michael's arm, would that have saved her daughter from falling for a similar fate? Had she failed to protect her children so badly that they weren't even safe when they weren't under the control of their father?
Had she failed as a mother?
She sunk down onto a chair, leaning her head in her hands as she felt the tears well up in her eyes.
How had this happened? Her three wonderfully, funny, smart, inquisitive and curious children, all damaged because of one man.
"There's no use in crying over that piece of shit."
Lucy jumped up, clutching her heart. "Dad!"
"Sorry 'bout that, Lucy. Don't cry over that man. He's not worth it."
"I feel like I failed as a mother."
Her father shook his head, looking unimpressed. "You got three kids. All of them are safe. They are themselves, for better or worse-"
"You're not talking about Sam, are-"
"No, no, that kid will end up going places. He's got some fight in him. He'll manage just fine. Michael is stuck playing chameleon."
"He tries hard to fit in, doesn't he?" Lucy smiled fondly. "He'll find where he'll belong."
"He can only do that because of how you raised him. Same with Sam and Stephanie."
"Maybe you're right."
"Of course I am, your mother and I didn't raise a fool," he grinned as he opened the fridge, offering her an oreo.
It was later that evening, after dinner, after Michael had agreed to take Stephanie along with him to the boardwalk, that Lucy could finally breathe again. Her kids were doing okay. They were alive. She looked up when she heard stumping down the stairs. Sam ran into the kitchen.
"If Steph isn't going to decorate her room, can we get a TV?"
Lucy looked at him, rolling her eyes as she shook her head.
"How about you pick up a hobby? Or a job? When I was younger, a friend of mine worked at the local cinema and got to see all the movies for free."
Sam stopped to think about that for just a second. "Does that also work for comicbook stores? Do you think the Frogs would give me more free comics?"
"I thought you didn't like that horror comic?"
"Mom," he paused dramatically, making sure she was hearing him right, "it's a free comic!"

This was ALSO super self indulgent, my brain is mush so I just wrote it to get something out. It's kind of a continuation of Risk It, please enjoy!
The waves crashed against the rocks, a cacophony of sound enough to drown out the thoughts within. A grey haze had settled over the sky, pitter patters of rain wetting the ground beneath you. You sat with your legs hanging off the side of the cliff, feet swinging mindlessly.
This was your favorite place to come to when it all came to be too much, when your body threatened to collapse under the weight of your mind. The noise would bubble, swirl and crowd until there was nothing left but to focus on each discordant note. Worry would choke you, panic setting your lungs ablaze and heart fluttering against its cage.
The boys weren't aware of what went on within your mind, why would they be? They were vampires, living a life without true worry or restrictions. They partied all night, slept all day, and never grew old.
They'd found out about your illness, how your heart thudded for no reason and your body grew heavy, weighed down by a fatigue you could never truly get rid of. But that wasn't by choice, you hadn't been careful enough and one episode had slipped through your fingers.
It had scared everyone when you fainted on the boardwalk, even though David would swear that he couldn't care less about human afflictions. You still remembered the tension in his voice, the vice grip he'd had on you afterwards.
He'd been just as scared as the others, even if he'd never admit to it.
The rain thudded around you, growing heavier with each passing second. You sighed, letting your head tip back and staring at the black clouds above. It was nearing sunset, they'd be awake soon.
Just a little bit longer, it wasn't as if they'd notice if you slipped in later then usual.
It was Dwayne who found you first, footsteps loud against the terrain. He stopped just behind you, shoes scuffing the earth before he finally seemed to decide something.
"It's raining," he sat down beside you, legs hanging off the edge. "Your hair's gonna get fucked up."
You rolled your eyes, head fuzzy as you tilted it to stare at him. "What happened to a simple good morning?" You spoke with the usual crook of your lips, hiding the turmoil with practiced ease.
Dwayne grinned, leaning closer until his nose barely touched yours. "Good morning," it was whispered, a hint of mischief in his gaze. "Did you miss me-"
You pushed his face away, palm of your hand smooshing his nose in the process. "It's been a day," you tried to seem annoyed, letting out a gasp at the sensation of something wet against your palm. "Did you just lick me?!"
His grin only deepened, throwing an arm around your shoulders to pull you closer. "You pushed me away, it was only fair."
"Fuck, you could have told me it was gonna be raining out." Another voice joined them, mud splashing as they plopped down on your other side. "Do you know how hard it is to get my hair like this?"
Paul made a face of disgust, glaring up at the overcast sky as if it had personally offended him. He touched shoulders with you, thigh pressed against yours. You were now officially sandwiched between two terrors, one hanging off your shoulder and the other pressed as close as possible.
You breathed in, the noise easing on the exhale.
"You couldn't hear it, dumbass?" Dwayne shoved Paul's shoulder from around you, earning a shove from Paul in return.
You wiggled, bringing your hands up in surrender. "Lets not do that while on the edge of a cliff, thank you." The last thing you needed was to take a nose dive into the sea.
You doubted either of them would actually let that happen, but you weren't feeling like testing that theory out.
Silence enveloped the three of you for a moment, Dwayne refusing to take his arm away from your shoulders and Paul leaning back on his hands. It was a rare moment of calm with those two, you'd be impressed that they could go so long without fucking around if you weren't so… heavy.
It was heavy, this feeling. Not the same lead like weight that came with your illness, but a soul crushing expanse that pulled your very being towards the center of the earth. The noise was fading, the haze fluffing around the edges until the only thing you could focus on was the warmth around your shoulders and the weight against your side.
The rain hitting your face stopped, the splatter of droplets hitting fabric filling the silence. You looked up, blinking at the umbrella that hovered above you.
"Two of you fuckers left the cave knowing it was raining and neither of you thought to bring this?" Marko scoffed, purposefully making it so you were the only one protected from the rain.
"Hey- Watch it man, it's soaking me!" Dwayne flinched as rivers of water slipped off the umbrellas edge, pelting him directly in the face. You stared before the scene seemed to click and a laugh pushed past your numb lips.
Paul was in a similar situation as Dwayne, flinching away just enough to try and dodge the rainwater slipping off the umbrella. "Asshole."
Marko scoffed, not bothering to move from where he hovered behind you. "You're dead, so what if you get wet?" He stared down at you, lips upturned into a smile and yet concern swirled within the depths of his eyes. "Our little dove here is still very much alive, their immune system is shit as it is."
You felt yourself frowning, picking at the wet denim of your jeans. You hadn't thought about that before deciding to go sulk in the rain.
"Fuck," Dwayne pulled you closer, that familiar anxiety on his features. "What if they get hypothermia?"
"Then I guess I'll have to warm them with my body," that voice was more then familiar. "It's a sacrifice I'll have to make."
David stood a few steps away, arms crossed and brow arched. "Why are you three idiots out of the ironworks, it's not even fully sundown yet." He purposefully left you out of the equation, you were far more then an idiot.
You listened as they each gave their explanations, melding into one big excuse as they tried to dodge the blame. You looked up at the sky, barely able to see the sun setting past the grey and black of clouds. It hadn't even come to mind that they'd come out before the sun had fully dipped beneath the horizon.
That pulled a frown from you.
Why did they all come out so soon?
"Because we could hear your sulking from a mile away," David's drawl interrupted your thoughts, boots crunching gravel as he stepped closer. "It was getting hard to ignore."
You blinked up at him, confusion creasing your brows. "It wasn't… I was being quiet."
"So you were sulking!" Dwayne squeezed your shoulders, ignoring Paul's shove. "What's wrong? Someone make fun of you?"
"Some guy hit on you?" Paul picked up where Dwayne left off, hand coming to rest on your thigh. "Describe them," he flashed a toothy smile, fangs pressing against his bottom lip. "I've been itching for a hunt lately."
Marko slapped the back of Paul's head, shifting the umbrella so it covered you better. "We can't just kill everyone who pisses them off."
You breathed out a sigh of relief, finally some common sense.
"We gotta torture 'em first." Marko finished with a grin, wild and ready for a thrill.
Your sigh of relief turned into one of exasperation.
"Boys," David didn't have to speak loudly for them to listen, a silence covering the cliff. "Let them speak." He wasn't giving you an out, he was demanding an explanation. Ever since you'd lied to him about your little disease, he'd been far less forgiving with your omitting of details during conversations.
You blinked once again, a chill starting to run through your spine. The noise had receded into a dull whine, thoughts slowly returning to you. "I needed to think."
Not a lie, a half truth.
"It's relaxing here."
The boys seemed to understand, each offering their own reply as they eased back into conversation. Marko shoved Dwayne, causing him to almost pull the both of you over the edge and Paul laughed as if it was the funniest thing to ever happen.
David watched.
His eyes never left you, arms crossed over his chest and fingers tapping an unknown rhythm. He didn't push, he didn't prod. He filed your words away for later and urged the lot of you back towards the cave.
So bit of a unique request that probably more of a headcanon type but go with whatever calls to you!
Now that there’s technically two versions of the Lost Boys, how do you think the two versions meeting would go? I fear the world wouldn’t be able to handle two Davids or that the two Davids could even handle their counterpart either
If you want to add in a reader perspective/ reader character so that there can be more shenanigans with the crossover feel free! ♡
ᴅᴏᴜʙʟᴇ ᴠɪꜱɪᴏɴ
in which the movie and musical Lost Boys meet
'x reader' bonus at the end, this part can be skipped if you're just here for the characters!
OHHH this is chaos and I'm living for it...putting these two groups in the same room would be a nightmare.
ᴅᴀᴠɪᴅ + ᴅᴀᴠɪᴅ
These two would either kill each other in 20 minutes or develop the most deeply irritating mutual respect imaginable. Probably both.
ᴀɴᴀʟʏꜱɪꜱ:
Movie-David is quieter, colder, and more controlled. He leads by watching people, testing them, and making everyone else come to him.
Musical-David is much more theatrical and emotionally transparent about what he wants, especially when it comes to family/belonging, his boys, and his very obvious fixation on Michael.
ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ:
They would clock each other immediately. I give them MAYBE thirty seconds of staring before both of them realize, Oh. You're me. Unfortunately.
Movie-David would think Musical-David talks too much. Musical-David would think Movie-David is ridiculously committed to pretending he doesn't care about anything.
They'd start subtly competing for control almost immediately, except neither of them would ever admit that's what they're doing.
"Your boys always listen this well?"
"Mine don't need reminding."
Paul, somewhere behind them: "OOOOOOOOOH!"
The Michael situation would make everything significantly worse. Movie-David would notice Musical-David's attraction to Michael almost instantly because, frankly, it takes one to know one.
Musical-David would be quick to point out that Movie-David isn't exactly normal about Michael either.
"What?"
"...You seriously didn't know?"
Laddie would probably be one of the first things that genuinely throws Musical-David off. Like, yes, he preaches about family and belonging, but his counterpart apparently extended that philosophy to an actual child.
Musical-David: "...He's a kid."
Movie-David: "Very observant."
I don't think Musical-David would suddenly develop a moral compass over it, after all...he is still David, but it would be one of the first moments where he realizes that the differences go beyond personality and presentation.
I also think that Movie-David would be intrigued by how openly attached Musical-David is to his boys, especially Marko. Musical-David wears that whole "we're a family" thing much more openly than he ever would.
Neither would admit it, but there'd definitely be things about the other that they envy.
God help everyone if they ever stop fighting long enough to agree on something. Two Davids arguing is bad; two Davids working together is significantly worse.
ᴍɪᴄʜᴀᴇʟ + ᴍɪᴄʜᴀᴇʟ
These two would get along pretty well, but there would be something deeply humbling about watching another version of yourself make almost the exact same bad decisions.
ᴀɴᴀʟʏꜱɪꜱ:
Movie-Michael feels more guarded, stubborn, and pride-driven. He's constantly trying to prove that David and the boys don't intimidate him, even when they obviously do.
On the other hand, Musical-Michael is much more openly lonely and searching for 'his place,' which makes his attraction to David and the life he's offering a lot more complicated.
ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ:
At first, I think they'd actually be relieved to see each other. FINALLY, one person who understands how completely insane Santa Carla has become.
Then, they'd start comparing stories and realize that apparently both versions of Michael Emerson will do crazy shit rather than admit they're scared.
"You hung from the bridge too?"
"...Yeah."
"Why?"
"...Why did you?"
I think that Movie-Michael would initially insist that Musical-Michael got way more swept up in David and the boys than he ever did, which would last approximately five seconds before Musical-Michael starts listing every objectively insane thing his counterpart did to keep following them...neither Michael wins this argument.
Musical-Michael would understand Movie-Michael frighteningly well. Both of them are restless, unhappy with where they are, and drawn to promise, even when it's laced with danger.
Movie-Michael would absolutely hate being psychoanalyzed by himself.
And obviously, comparing their respective relationships with David would become the most embarrassing part of this experience.
Movie-Michael would spend an unreasonable amount of time insisting that whatever is going on between Musical-Michael and David is completely different from whatever is going on between him and David.
They'd develop a weird protective streak toward each other pretty quickly, mostly because each one can recognize exactly when the other is about to make a terrible decision.
Unfortunately, recognizing it does not mean they can stop it.
Movie-Michael would absolutely make fun of how much of a sap Musical-Michael is over Star, when, in reality, Musical-Michael is just more willing to actually say how much he cares for her, which Movie-Michael would find deeply embarrassing.
Movie-Michael is down just as bad...he's simply convinced that staring at Star like she personally hung the moon somehow counts as being more subtle.
"You're embarrassing."
"You're just jealous I'm less repressed."
"...I take it back. You're annoying."
ꜱᴛᴀʀ + ꜱᴛᴀʀ
These two would understand each other almost instantly, but Musical-Star would definitely be a little shaken by just how different her life could've looked.
ᴀɴᴀʟʏꜱɪꜱ:
Movie-Star feels much more trapped and protective. Laddie gives her someone to care for, but also someone she has to worry about constantly, which complicates her relationship with the boys.
Musical-Star is more socially integrated into the group, but arguably lonelier. Without Laddie, she has fewer responsibilities, but also no one who is unquestionably hers.
ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ:
I think Movie-Star would instantly catch that Musical-Star seems more comfortable around the boys and probably be a little suspicious of it at first.
Laddie would probably be the biggest shock for Musical-Star. Not because she dislikes him, obviously, but because the idea that another version of David brought an actual child into this life would genuinely horrify her.
Movie-Star would understand that reaction more than anyone. She’s had time to bury a lot of that anger and fear because protecting Laddie became her normal, but seeing Musical-Star react to him would probably drag all of it back to the surface.
Musical-Star would be gentle with Laddie almost immediately, but there’d be this constant undercurrent of he should never have been involved in this at all.
"He's just a kid."
"I know."
"And David still—"
"I know."
I think that would be one of the few moments where Movie-Star’s composure really cracks. She’s so used to surviving the situation that having someone else look at it with fresh eyes would remind her just how fucked up it actually is.
And Musical-Star would probably get angry on her counterpart’s behalf too. Not just because of Laddie himself, but because Movie-Star was basically forced into becoming his protector in the middle of an already terrifying situation.
Once that initial horror settles, though, I think Musical-Star would most certainly get attached to Laddie.
Movie-Star would probably envy Musical-Star a little. Not because she has an 'easier' situation, but because she gets to make choices without having to constantly factor in someone else's safety.
Musical-Star would envy Movie-Star too, though, because as exhausting as protecting someone else is, Movie-Star has someone in the cave who very clearly needs her and loves her.
I can see Movie-Star being a bit baffled by how romantic Musical-Star is with Michael. Like, she loves Michael plenty, but Musical-Star is much more willing to actually lean in to the whole feelings thing.
"You two are kind of...intense."
"...You're dating the same guy."
Honestly, I think they'd be the sweetest counterpart pairing. There's WAYYYY less ego involved than with the boys, so after the initial shock, it would just be two girls bonding over shared, supernatural trauma.
ᴍᴀʀᴋᴏ + ᴍᴀʀᴋᴏ
These two would get along surprisingly well, but they'd also be deeply confused by each other at first.
ᴀɴᴀʟʏꜱɪꜱ:
Movie-Marko feels very mischievous and impulsive, but also feral. He has this playful energy that makes him seem almost harmless right up until he's sinking his fangs into your neck.
Musical-Marko is much more grounded and more closely tied to David, giving off a 'right-hand man' vibe. He still has plenty of personality, but his role in the pack is more defined.
ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ:
The first thing Movie-Marko would do is mistake Musical-Marko for Dwayne's counterpart. Between the styling and general vibe, he'd probably be halfway through addressing him as Dwayne before getting corrected and just staring at him like the musical universe personally rearranged his friend group to piss him off.
"Oh, cool. Dwayne's got a twin too."
"I'm Marko."
"...Seriously?"
Movie-Marko looks him up and down. "They fucked us up in your universe."
I think Movie-Marko would initially assume Musical-Marko is way more serious than he actually is, while Musical-Marko would assume Movie-Marko is basically pure chaos with no off-switch.
Both assumptions are wrong.
The biggest difference between them would probably be their place beside David. Musical-Marko seems closer to David, whereas Movie-Marko feels very equal to the other boys rather than a second-in-command.
Movie-Marko would CLOCK that.
"You his favorite or something?"
"What?"
"You're always next to him."
"...You're weirdly observant."
"I'm bored."
I don't think Movie-Marko would be jealous, but he definitely would be intrigued by it, especially with Musical-David being more openly attached to his boys in general.
Musical-Marko, meanwhile, would be fascinated by how little structure Movie-Marko seems to need. He just...does whatever he wants and somehow remains part of the group.
Once they stop sizing each other up, though, I think they'd become good friends. They both have plenty of mischief in them, so I imagine it would quickly turn into encouraging each other's worst ideas.
The Pauls would be thrilled about this.
The Davids would not.
ᴅᴡᴀʏɴᴇ + ᴅᴡᴀʏɴᴇ
These two would have the easiest time getting along, mostly because neither of them seems interested in making a huge deal out of meeting their counterpart.
ᴀɴᴀʟʏꜱɪꜱ:
Movie-Dwayne is very quiet, intimidating, and observant. He has that almost 'second-in-command' energy to him, and seems to be one of the steadier presences around David.
Musical-Dwayne feels sharper and more outwardly rebellious, with a bit more visible personality. Still, he comes across as one of the more grounded members of the group.
ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ:
Same as before, the first thing Movie-Dwayne would do is probably assume Musical-Dwayne is Marko's counterpart. After seeing Musical-Marko first, he'd just look between the two of them like, Right. So apparently everybody got rearranged.
"You're Marko?"
"Dwayne."
"...Of course you are."
Unlike Marko, though, I don't think either Dwayne would be particularly bothered by the styling confusion. They'd accept it with one unimpressed look and move on.
There'd be a silent, mutual respect between the two of them almost immediately. Neither one needs to dominate the conversation, so while everyone is arguing with themselves, the Dwaynes are probably just standing off to the side watching it happen.
Musical-Dwayne would be fascinated by Movie-Dwayne's relationship with Laddie. Movie-Dwayne has this noticeably softer, protective energy around the boy that you don't really get to see from his musical counterpart.
And meeting Laddie would probably hit Musical-Dwayne in a similar way to Musical-Star: not because he wouldn't like him, but because why is there a literal child mixed up in any of this?
Movie-Dwayne, meanwhile, has had long enough to normalize it that he'd probably react to that horror with something closer to resignation than surprise.
"He's a kid."
"Yeah."
"And you're all just okay with that?"
"...You think I'm the one you should be asking?"
I could also see Musical-Dwayne getting attached to Laddie embarrassingly fast, which Movie-Dwayne would notice and say absolutely nothing about.
Honestly, their whole dynamic would be less “fight for dominance” and more two guys silently realizing they’re surrounded by idiots in every universe.
ᴘᴀᴜʟ + ᴘᴀᴜʟ
The Pauls would be BEST buddies and you cannot convince me otherwise.
ᴀɴᴀʟʏꜱɪꜱ:
Movie-Paul is loud, impulsive, flirtatious, and basically operating on whatever sounds fun in the next thirty seconds.
Musical-Paul has that same chaotic energy, just with even more room to perform it; being in an actual band somehow makes everything about him make even more sense.
ɪɴᴛᴇʀᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ:
There would be no awkward 'meeting your counterpart' phase. They'd take one look at each other and immediately become everyone else's problem.
"You like having fun?"
"Yeah."
"Sick."
I genuinely believe they'd be obsessed with each other's energy. Neither one would find the other too loud, too annoying, or too much, because that is literally the appeal.
Within five minutes, they've wandered off together.
Within ten, someone is asking where they've gone.
Within fifteen, David is already pissed.
They'd absolutely encourage each other's worst impulses, too. Every bad idea suddenly has a second vote.
"David's gonna be pissed."
"Which one?"
"...Both, probably."
The funniest part is that I don't even think either Paul would be especially interested in analyzing the differences between their universes. Everyone else is having an existential crisis over meeting themselves and the Pauls are like wait, your jacket is cool as hell.
Musical-Paul would probably be delighted that Movie-Paul somehow manages to have rockstar energy without technically being in a band.
Movie-Paul, on the other hand, would find out that his counterpart is a drummer and act like this confirms something he's known about himself his entire life.
They would also become unbearable hype men for everyone else's counterpart drama:
The Davids are arguing? The Pauls are watching it go down like it's a sporting event.
One of the Michaels says something embarrassing about Star? They are NEVER letting him live it down.
Marko and Dwayne are trying to figure out why their aesthetics got rearranged? The Pauls are actively making the confusion worse.
Basically, every other pairing has some kind of identity crisis, rivalry, or emotional revelation. The Pauls just leave with a new best friend.
ʙᴏɴᴜꜱ: ʀᴇᴀᴅᴇʀ ɢᴇᴛꜱ ᴄᴀᴜɢʜᴛ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍɪᴅᴅʟᴇ
poly!lost boys x reader
open to your interpretation which set (movie/musical) is your boys...maybe both if you're shameless like me
If you're already involved with the Lost Boys, this whole situation becomes approximately ten times worse because now there are two versions of every person you're used to handling.
The biggest problem is that there's only one of you. Everyone else gets a counterpart, you get eight vampires and five half-vampires suddenly deciding they have some kind of claim on your attention.
Both Davids would fall into this unspoken assumption that you're their responsibility, and it would get territorial fast.
"They're with me."
"Funny. I was about to say the same thing."
The Pauls would think this is the greatest thing that has ever happened to them. One you, two of them, and absolutely no reason in their minds why they shouldn't be hanging off of you at the same time.
The Markos would join in, mostly because they see the Pauls doing it and refuse to be left out.
Then the Dwaynes join...and suddenly you lose your balance and are being smushed in a pile.
If you're affectionate with your boys normally, the counterparts would be weirdly fascinated by it. There'd be this sense of oh, so this is what you're like with me in another universe.
Movie-David would be intrigued by how openly Musical-David lets you touch him or fuss over him, while Musical-David would find it hilarious how much his counterpart pretends not to enjoy the exact same treatment.
Reader automatically becomes the judge for all universe comparisons:
"Our place is better."
"You live in a cave."
"You live in a factory."
"...I'm not picking sides."
Except you absolutely have a favorite hideout and everyone knows it.
David’s powers would become another point of comparison pretty quickly. Movie-David seems especially good at messing with what people perceive—making Michael see worms and maggots in perfectly normal food, for example—while Musical-David gets to mess with how time itself is perceived, slowing or suspending a moment around him.
Naturally, both Davids would be way too interested in the other one’s particular brand of psychological bullshit. You are NOT remotely impressed by this. You already have one David capable of casually making reality feel unreliable; you do not need the two of them trading notes.
The funniest part (to me) would be discovering that affection apparently carries over in really uncomfortable ways. Even if the alternate boys don't technically know you, they'd probably warm up to you frighteningly fast because you already know exactly how to handle them.
You know when Paul needs to be distracted, when Marko is about to start something, when Dwayne wants everyone to shut up, and when David is pretending he isn’t bothered.
Both groups would find that extremely suspicious.
Eventually it would become this bizarre temporary super-polycule where nobody has actually discussed boundaries and everyone is just operating on the assumption that if their counterpart loves you, they probably have excellent taste.
Star and Michael are watching this unfold with increasing concern.
The real point of tension would probably be physical affection. Your boys are used to touching you without thinking about it—hand at your waist, arm around your shoulders, pulling you into their lap, stealing kisses—and the counterparts would notice immediately.
And once one alternate boy crosses that line, it's over. If one Paul watches the other kiss your cheek like it's nothing, suddenly he's looking at you like well, apparently I'm allowed to do that.
Which becomes a horrible domino effect.
The Pauls and Markos would be the least subtle about it. They’d absolutely start competing for your attention just because it’s funny, squeezing themselves beside you, interrupting each other, stealing you away mid-conversation.
The Dwaynes would pretend they’re above the competition right up until one of the others gets a little too comfortable. Then suddenly there’s a hand settling at your lower back and you’re being quietly pulled to the other side of the room.
Honestly, the Dwaynes might create more tension than the Pauls and Markos because they wouldn’t announce that they’re jealous. They’d just start getting noticeably more possessive in these tiny, quiet ways.
And obviously the Davids notice everything. Neither one particularly enjoys watching his counterpart’s boys get comfortable with you, even if logically he knows they are basically alternate versions of the same people you already love.
Which creates the deeply stupid situation where both Davids are territorial over you on behalf of their entire group.
The weirdest part for you would be that the counterparts don’t feel like strangers for very long. Their voices are different, their habits are slightly different, for some, their entire aesthetic is different—but then Paul laughs a certain way, Marko gives you that look, or Dwayne reaches for you without thinking and your brain just goes, oh. There you are.
Which would probably make your boys jealous in a way they absolutely did not anticipate. It’s one thing for an alternate Paul to flirt with you; it’s another to watch you instinctively lean into him because some part of you recognizes him.
And I think that’s where the tension could actually get a little more serious. Not angry exactly, but this weird question hanging over everyone: how much of your love belongs to the person, and how much belongs to who they are?
Naturally, Paul ruins that existential crisis in record-breaking time.
"So if you love him because he's me—"
"Paul."
"—technically—"
"Do not finish that sentence."
If everyone ends up crashing in the same place for the night, the sleeping arrangements would be a nightmare. You’re already used to being crowded by four vampires; doubling that number means there is legitimately no version of this where you wake up with personal space.
Paul is half on top of you. One Marko has stolen your pillow. The other has stolen your blanket. Dwayne has an arm around your waist. There is another Dwayne behind you.
You cannot locate either David, which is somehow worse.
The next morning, both Davids insist the arrangement was ridiculous and cannot happen again. Nobody believes them.
At some point, you also get fed up with everyone acting territorial and decide to make it everyone else’s problem instead. One Paul gets a kiss? Fine, so does the other. One Dwayne pulls you closer? Congratulations, now you’re grabbing the other one too.
This works beautifully until you casually kiss both Davids goodbye and the entire room goes dead silent.
"What?"
Neither David says anything.
One of them is still staring at your mouth.
The other is staring at him.
Somewhere behind you, Paul’s grin goes feral.
"…Oh, you're fucked."
a/n: this request was SO much fun!! the sheer chaos of throwing both versions of these idiots into the same universe was exactly my kind of thing.
PLEASE keep sending me lost boys prompts/asks because i am clearly incapable of being normal about them and my inbox is always open <3

may i request a dark!vampire michael x reader where he's obsessed with them and will stop at nothing to have them... 🤤
your writing is amazing as ever, i love reading all of your works 💖💖💖
I had to think about this one for a bit storywise, but I really like the concept! Thank you for requesting - I hope you like it!
___________________________________
But he grew up in the early 1900s. So like, I don't think he ever was able to explore that and he sort of got stuck in that. Um, and then once he's, you know, now in the '80s, when people are starting to explore that, I think there is something interesting about him even embracing, um, like a different kind of hairstyle and these like clothes, like there is something where he's like finally allowing himself to, but he's also like 100 years old and doesn't necessarily even need to have a label for himself. I think all vampires, probably at a certain point, forget about labels and sexuality in general, and just everything goes, you know?
Marko genuinely forgets stealing is a crime sometime so he'll walk out if a store carrying something he didn't pay for without a second thought because.. he forgot
Max during the dining scene is all like "oh, I dont remember which it is, not seeing the meal before dinner or the bride before the wedding, silly me"
But WHAT IF
He can't remember because he got married so many times and every time the bride was his meal - so he genuinely gets confused because he couldn't see his meal before dinner?

"You really want to know?" Stephanie asked, sounding uncertain. Michael would think she was mad, insane really. How could he possibly understand why she ended up in the situation that she did?
Michael nodded, looking at his sister expectantly. She sighed, nodding quietly. Michael could see her struggling to find words, something he had never seen her do before. He gave her a worried look.
"Is it that bad?"
She answered without thinking.
"Yes."
Stephanie was quiet for a moment, her fingers playing with a silver ring she wore around her middlefinger. "Starting university early sounds like fun," she said quietly. "I had really hoped to find some like minded people. People who also cared about knowledge and learning. I was so wrong," she laughed dryly, all humour escaping from her voice. "Most of them couldn't stand me. Or didn't want to spend time with me, stating that they 'came here to study, not babysit teenagers'. They wanted to spend their time drinking, partying and having sex, and I- well, I didn't. This was back in my first year, you know, before dad- before he physically became an asshole too. I was alone, my first dormmate hated my guts. I still am not sure why. Maybe because I was younger and doing better than them, maybe because I couldn't help but be a know it all... There were some fratgirls who tried to bring me down whenever they could, trying to embarass me in front of the whole class or cafetaria. I was alone. Vulnerable. I see that now," she said with an empty smile. Michael had never seen her like that. Hurt, shame and fear were hidden behind her expression.
"Someone took advantage of you?"
"In a way. Nothing sexual, if that's what you're worried about. No, ehm, it was halfway through my first year, and I was definitely considering to quit, thinking a gapyear or two would be better. I mentioned it at home once. Dads reaction stopped me from doing so."
Michael paled, remembering that one time after Christmas that he had seen her come downstairs with a black eye and a split lip, leaving for college again very suddenly. He hadn't been able to talk to her, but he had seen. And deep down, he had known. He wasn't the only one his father had hurt. Lucy had been heartbroken, Sam hadn't understood it, and their father had been in a strange mood during the remainder of the holiday.
"When I got back, things were a little better. I had a new dormmate that took pity on me. She tried to introduce me to the college lifestyle and allowed me to sit with her and her friends at lunch," she said shaking her head slightly, as if she couldn't believe she let that happen to her. She made it sound as if she was allowed to follow them like a lost dog, and going by what she had told him, Michael suspected that this was the case.
"It was during lunch one day when I went to the cafetaria. I stood in line, felt like shit after the holidays and a groupproject I ended up doing solo, and I decided to treat myself a little. One of the fratgirls ahead of me saw me grabbing a slice of cake and mentioned something about how she could never eat something like that, knowing that a man would never like a woman who wasn't skinny. I retorted by asking if that was the reason why her body count was so high. It was a low blow, but I didn't know what else to say, and it just came out...," she shook her head, before continuing. "She stormed off, her two friends pushing me backwards as they followed. They pushed me quite literally into his arms. He helped me back on my feet, and offered to pay for me. He claimed that not enough people stood up to those bitches. I accepted his offer and joined him for lunch. He said his name was JD, and that he had just transfered here. He was very charming, and handsome and before I knew it I began to fall for him."
"So, that all seems rough but pretty normal to me?" Michael asked, wondering when the story would turn bad.
"It was, in the beginning. We had fun. He knew things, random details and fun facts I didn't even know. He was a real history buff. We hung out during lunch daily, and then after three weeks he asked me to join him on a date. I was expecting something fancy, but in the end we ended up going to a 7/11, grabbing some slushies," Stephanie chuckled. "I really wish sometimes that it could have stayed that way. I liked the simplicity of it, seeing a scary movie together, laughing at people, studying together, telling each other about the things we'd learnt and discovered."
"What happened?"
"Summerbreak did. I went back home, and so did he. With how dad was, I didn't dare to mention having a boyfriend. So, I didn't call or see him. I wrote him some letters, but asked him to not send any back to the house."
"I didn't realise that he hurt you then as well," Michael said quietly.
"It didn't happen as often... If I had still lived at home it would have been worse, I guess." She looked at her brother, who had a conflicted expression on his face. "It's not on you. You know dad hated know-it-alls, and I hate being wrong or being told wrong information."
Michael nodded, grabbing her hand. "Still, it shouldn't have happened. What happened next?"
"Once break was over he was more intens than before. He claimed that the time spent apart made him realise that he truly loved me. That our love was special and made everything worth it. I never questioned what he meant by that, but looking back now I should have known this was the moment things turned sour."
"Steph, come on, what happened that was so bad?"
"There- there was an incident," she said quietly, refusing to look at him. "My roommate had invited me to a party. It was the first party I ever got invited to, and I quickly learned I cannot hold my liquor."
"I really should have dragged you along when you were still in highschool with me," Michael sighed, causing her to shake her head. "No, don't beat yourself up about it. This - what happened would have happened anyway."
"How so?"
"Heather, my roommate," she said quietly, "had wanted me to go on a double date with her, her boyfriend and another guy. She hated JD, and thought he was a creep. I should've listened to her, but back then I was still head over heels. I told her that I really liked JD, and she said I had just comitted 'social suicide', or something like that. I was about to say something back to her, when I felt nauseous." Stephanie grimaced. "I threw up, all over her dress and shoes. It was so disgusting. I felt horrible. No matter how much I disagreed with her, she hadn't deserved that. I ran off, ashamed and horrified, and ran into JD. He never really went to parties either, but he had offered to pick me up sometime during the night since I didn't like walking back to my dorm on my own."
Michael nodded, still wondering how this JD guy could turn out so bad. Sure, he seemed a little weird, but blowing the school up like he had supposedly done? He walked his siter home in the dark. That seemed like a nice thing to do, right?
"JD asked about what happened and offered me to stay at his place. I went home with him, and the next morning I asked him to be my backup when I went and apologised to Heather. She could be really scary when she was mean, and honestly, she kind of terrified me. He was happy to agree, and together we went back to my dorm. Heather was asleep still, clearly having gone to bed drunk. I figured waking her up with an anti-hungover drink would be a good way to clear the air. I- I mixed some raw eggs together with some spices, like I'd seen Dad do a million times, when JD jokingly grabbed a mug and poured some cleaning supplies in. He said it would clean her inside and out. I'd told him it was a sick joke, that he shouldn't joke about that-"
"You- you somehow ended up giving Heather the cleaning supply drink?" Michael asked horrified. Stephanie looked at him, tears in her eyes as she nodded. Then she broke down, sobbing quietly.
"It wasn't supposed to happen. If- if I hadn't looked away form the counter, if I had checked the cup JD emptied... she wasn't supposed to die."
"She died?! This JD guy tricked you into killing your roommate?!" Michael sounded furious. His sister, who would never hurt a fly, had somehow been made responsible for a dead. The dead of her roommate. She cried, clinging to him as he wrapped his arms around her.
His sister had killed someone... she ended someone's life. But, she had never intended to do so. Did that make this involuntary manslaughter? Would she still go to prison if this got out? How- how did she end up in a position where this could even happen to her? She'd always been the smartest Emerson, how did this JD manage to trick her? Could he tell his mother about this, about how broken her daugther truly was?
"JD- he- he said we needed to cover it up. I- I was so- so confused and scared and terrified, and he just took the lead - he-" she gasped for air, trying to steady herself, allow herself to tell the rest of her story, "he said we- we needed to make it look like suicide. I- I knew she had been struggling, with ehm, with school, you know?" She wiped away some snot with her sleave, taking some deep breaths, looking at Michael. Just for a moment a flash of confusion crossed her face, before she took a breath and continued.
"And a teacher- he- he'd tried to make advances on her. JD knew I could copy her handwriting and-" she paused, tears streaming down her face once again, "he told me what to write. Said that if I didn't do it, I'd end up going to prison for it. I couldn't think straight, and something in his manner was so convincing, so familiar, making me feel so safe, knowing that he'd make it right..."
"He controlled you?"
Stephanie nodded.
"And in that moment, I let him..."
Michael held his sister a while longer, hugging her until her tears slowed and she slowly regained her composure.
"I am curious how this led to him trying to blow up the school," Michael looked at her.
"I- I realised that he was controlling me. I don't know how, I still don't, but a part of me realised he could make me do things I wouldn't normally do. I didn't like who I had become with him, so I tried to leave."
"This was him reacting to a break up?" If the guy was still alive, Michael would have very much liked to personally send him to the hospital.
"He said that if I wasn't with him, life didn't make any sense anymore. That I was the only thing that was right about this broken world. That I should try to be with him, try to love him, that he'd try to be better..."
"You didn't believe him?"
"No. Whatever spell I was under was broken. I saw him, just for a moment, for what he really was. A manipulative, egocentric, narcissistic asshole who thought the world owed him."
"So, he threathens to blow up the school if you don't run back to him. How did you get him to leave?"
"I played into his game. Once I realised how he was playing me, or trying to play me, I realised that all he needed was a confession of my love for him. I ran after him, knowing he had a bomb with him. Initially I had tried to fight him, trying to drag the device away from him and get it outside of the school. But he was stronger than me, and seemed determined to make sure everyone died. So, I-" she was quiet for a moment, "I intended to give him what he wanted. He wanted everyone dead, which included me. Or so I thought. The moment I tried to hug him, bringing myself closer to the bomb, he pushed me away. He told me that I needed to keep my distance."
"Why did he want to keep you alive?"
"A part of him still cared, I guess. He ran off, and I followed him. That's how we ended up outside. I stood there, between him, the bomb and the school. Then JD ran forward, grabbing the bomb and rushing further away from me. When he was about thirty feet away the thing went off. So did JD. He went everywhere."
"Steph..."
Michael was quiet, not knowing what to say. His sister going to university was supposed to be good for her. It was supposed to be a place where she found like-minded people, where she would thrive and gain more knowledge every single day.
It wasn't supposed to be this place of horrors, nightmares and regrets that she'd dealt with.
"I'm sorry, Mike," she said softly as she laid back down, tears streaming down her face once again. "This was never meant to happen."
She was quiet then, her brother absent mindly holding her hand, both of them waiting for Lucy to return.
Stephanie just hoped that this partial truth was enough.
