Hellooo!! I'm still wondering if youre up to writing for monster/hybrid!reader w/ the Lost Boys?
I LOVE the selkie one you wrote btw!! It's genuinely so awesome, I love how you wrote thw reader!!
If you're up for it, could you write something with a harpy (or maybe an ailurocentaur (cat version of a centaur) reader x Lost Boys? Maybe the reader got caught in a trap of some sort and they help them out of it?
You don't have to ofc!! You can tweak anything abt this request if you'd like ^^
Ooh this is an interesting one as well! I have taken the liberty to mix the traditional harpy up with similar creatures from Slavic/European folklore, because it worked better for the story :) I hope you like it!💜
--------------------------------------
Strong winds blew through the cavern. The fires they normally lit refused to stay on, anything they put down blew away within seconds and lighting a cigarette was definitely out of the question. Before the lighter could reach its target, the wind would have killed the flame already. Needless to say, none of the boys were too happy with this.
It had been three days already. Three days of never ending storms and wind, getting worse with the hour. As Marko stared out of the cave he couldn't help but feel as if the wind had some sort of desperation attached to it. He didn't really care though. His pigeons had refused to leave their nest the past couple of days, the boardwalk had been closed, people stayed inside and hunting became harder than it should have been in the middle of summer. He just needed it to stop.
"We're going out," David said as he looked at the winds, knowing that it would be tough to find a party to crash tonight. Still, if they didn't feed now, they'd risk the whole town. Not that they cared so much about that, but Max definitely did - and David did not want to deal with Max.
"And if we don't succeed?" Paul asked, never having dealt with such storms in such longevity before.
"Then we raid Max'." David shrugged as he stepped out. Initially his plan had been to fly, but he quickly realised the winds were to strong for that, especially now that it had been almost a week without feeding. He walked up the stairs, grabbing his bike.
Santa Carla was quiet. The boardwalk was dark. It was a good thing probably, he thought, as he saw the big dipper and the ferris wheel tremble in the wind.
He drove off, driving slower than usual, knowing the boys would follow his lead. He drove further and furhter, speeding up a little until-
So did the boys, cursing loudly.
David didn't respond as Dwayne and Marko voiced their displeasure, instead holding quiet. Then he heard it, a melodic cry that filled him with a sadness he'd never felt before. Not when he lost his human life, not when he killed his first victim, not when he lost one of his brothers - no, this was deeper. Purer. More desperate. This was a grieve, a sadness, a longing to something he could never have that he wasn't able to describe. All he knew was that the feeling was beginning to overwhelm him, and he didn't know what he would do when it finally did.
"Shit!" Dwayne tried to pull David away, hearing the melody as well. "Plug your ears, don't listen to the song!"
"Why not, it's-" Paul started but shut up when Dwayne glared at him.
"It will drive you insane."
Paul quickly plugged his ears. Thanks to their vampiric link they could still communicate, without risking tjeir sanity. Still, Paul's constant stream of questions about what this thing was and why it was singing, and why it would drive you insane were enough to also drive you insane.
Still, Paul was considered the lesser of two evils in this case.
'It's probably a siren or a harpy-like creature,' Dwayne answered Paul. He'd been known to study up on folklore in his free time, always feeling certain that there were more things out there than just vampires and witches. Apparently, he had been right.
'Sirens? Those are like mermaids?' Paul questioned, causing Dwayne to shake his head.
'More like half woman half bird, according to Greek mythology.'
'Can we shut up about what this thing is and actually find it?' Marko said through their mindlink as he looked around. He sensed something - living, yes, human? He wasn't sure - nearby. And the more the other two talked about which species they could be dealing with, the longer it would take to find the creature and to finally hunt.
'Maybe in the trees?' Paul suggested, flying up. He didn't see anything in the surrounding trees, but still he ahd the feeling he was on the right path.
'There!' Dwayne pointed at a net, hanging a little further down the road.
The four vampires looked. A young person - while looking at them neither of the boys could decide whether they were male or female - with feathers and wings was tangled up within the net, one of the wings hanging in an awkard angle. Large claws gripped the net, as the being tried to keep itself steady. The other thing they noticed was that there was no wind or storm surrounding the creature.
Did they cause that? Were they literally in the eye of the storm?
As they neared the net, they continued to look up, hoping to get a better look at the supernatural being in their territory. If they wanted to get the net down, they needed to get closer. And if they needed to get closer...
"Stop singing!" David demanded. The melody suddenly stopped, a squeak sounding from above them.
Startled, the creature looked down. Their birdlike features slowly made way for a perfectly proportioned face. With a somewhat innocent yet confused expression, it looked down. "Why?"
"We want to help you!" Dwayne answered.
"We're not like everybody else," Paul shrugged, earning a pointed look from the others.
"Please get me down," the creature asked, deciding that if these four men did end up betrayjng them, they could always start singing again and drive the four men mad.
The vampires nodded, and after a good ten minutes the net plummeted to the ground. The creature landed with a loud cry, crumbling in on itself.
As Paul and Dwayne untangled the net, David continued to look at the creature.
"That explains the storms," Dwayne nodded.
"How long had you been up there?" David asked.
"Four days," the creature said after thinking for a moment. "I was practicing my flying when I lost my balance. I fell into the net and before I knew it I was tangled up. You're the first non animals I've seen since then."
"Is your wing okay?" Marko asked, looking at it. The harpy shook their head. Marko sighed. He was the only one here with experience with birds, so he was the only one that could help this harpy when it came to their wing.
"Go hunt, bring some back for me. I'm going to try ot fix this wing."
David looked like he was about to argue, before he nodded. The other boys drove off and Marko looked at the harpy.
Marko nodded, before introducing himself. "Get on, if you're lucky, I can fix your wing."
"That'd be great," Nost climbed on the back of the bike, feeling a bit uncertain but quickly learning that holding on was mandatory as Marko sped off. It was much easier now, since then winds had disappeared and the night became calm once again.
It was almost two hours later that the others returned. They dragged an unconscious body with them inside, seeing that Marko was still busy fixing Nosts wing up.
"How's it going?" Paul asked.
"Better if you're not standing in the light," Marko shoved him away, continuing to wrap the wing in bandages. He had given it some extra support, strengthening the wing as he repaired it.
Nost tried it, before nodding. "Much better. Thank you."
They were about to leave when David stopped them. "Where are you going?"
"Stay here, we'd like to get to know the creature that caused such storms."
"You wouldn't want to be rude."
Nort nodded, semsing a silent threat in Davids words. "I guess I can stay for the night."
But, it wasn't just one night. Soon it became three. And then a week. A month. Two months. Soon none of them could remember a time before Nost was there.
Four vampires and a harpy, the second Max heard about it he had to laugh. "It's like the beginning of a bad joke!"
The five of them had laughed as well, knowing full well that this was anything but a bad joke for them. With Nost' storms and singing and their vampiric power, they were stronger and more powerful than before. So, they might have been perceived as a bad joke, but honestly, how bad was it if they were the last ones laughing?
