And then billy disappears. Like an asshole that he's always been, without even saying a proper goodbye.
But hey. He did warn Steve, right? It shouldn't have come as a surprise. A devastating one.
Steve's brokenhearted. The upside down stuff distracts him for a while, arranging his own life distracts him for another while.
Years pass. Steve has settled down, the parents have left him the house, having moved to Indianapolis. Steve has a steady job, no steady girlfriend.
He dreams of billy. Seldom, often, always. It comes and goes, like a tide, but he never actually forgets him, what they had.
If you asked him, Steve would answer he'd happily bring everything back.
There are only memories to hold on to, it's really not much but somehow even when steve has a feeling he's moving on, moving forward, the tide always drags him back.
He can swear, he sometimes even hears Billy's voice. He can't forget him.
So more time passes, and one day Steve gets a strange call from Max. Max moved to California with Lucas years ago. She asks steve if he's heard from billy lately, which is a weird question
"Something strange is happening. I have a feeling, something is coming .."
The call gets disconnected, and Steve's left wondering.
Anyways, a harringrove au where billy x steve fuck and all, then billy gets involved with the Mindflayer, but in a different way. He doesn't die in Starcourt, no, he possesses various powers being the mindflayer's favourite, and then evil soviets abduct him, bring to him to a secret lab in Kamchatka, try to brainwash him etc. basically they make him like their terminator or something, a super power together with the upside down creatures and the underwater creatures (the mindflayer also has its own realm under the ocean), aimed at unleashing hell on the united states of america. The MF doesn't mind, it just wants to make a big mess for the fun of it. It's not like it needs a document to exist on any country's territory.
So it's like, something huge is coming, something way too powerful, like a massive raging storm.
Does billy remember Harrington, his high school crush? Has he been keeping that flame somewhere deep in his heart during all those years, or he's too caught up in his own new world? How will they meet and what will happen? Will the US government use Steve in their own interests as soon as they find out about his feelings for billy who is clearly a threat now?
