Last night’s parish council meeting: a lesson in community suffering and the perils of polyester shorts. There we were, twenty-odd souls stewing in the Village Hall, airless as a forgotten lunchbox and twice as fragrant. I wore linen — blissfully cool and about as opaque as a wet teabag — while the committee paraded their knees with abandon. Picture Mr Butterworth’s thighs: pale as supermarket tofu, yet somehow less appetising. Points of order included: “Can we allocate funds to repair the urn before Mrs Egerton’s bridge night?” and “Is it legal to keep geese in a Fiat Panda boot if the window’s open?”

Escaped home, shed the linen, and collapsed on the garden bench, letting the shade and breeze do their thing. Modesty? Overrated. Sun on bare flesh is life’s finest gift — unless the neighbour’s drone is overhead.

Reinvention after sixty: it’s like discovering a forgotten tin of Quality Street behind the bread bin — unexpected, a bit sticky, but surprisingly delightful. You wake up one day, trade your sensible knickers for something sheer, and suddenly you’re Lady Bee in the garden, limbs akimbo, cackling at blackbirds and gravity alike. Self-expression? It’s everything from donning cheeky cardis to writing poems on Tesco receipts. Sure, your knees mutter mutiny and your neighbours raise an eyebrow, but who cares? Tumblr, darlings—let’s tip our (metaphorical) hats to my favourite summer stunner: a scene-stealing wide-brimmed cocoa-brown straw number, discovered at the 2019 village fayre between homemade jam and the WI tombola. Its softly structured crown, banded with a striped ribbon — muted gold, cream, taupe— finished with a vintagey buckle, positively whispers Riviera glamour and English country garden chic. I’ve paired it with linen culottes for the flower show, a floaty frock for choir rehearsals, and many times, most memorably, with nothing but a bold grin and SPF 30 for my blog. At 65, is parading about in just a hat wisdom or folly? Depends on your view of sunburn and scandal, I suppose. Let’s call it living deliciously on the edge of the parish newsletter.

How is the summer vanishing so fast, scorching garden and all? I blink and suddenly we’re at the end of July, my sunhat tossed aside, and here I am—still baring all at 65. I once thought I was ancient doing this malarkey at 49, gingerly unclasping my bra for the camera, convinced my best bits were already heading south. Now, I marvel at wrinkles multiplying in places even the mirror can’t find, and the mysterious, quiet surrender of parts no one mentioned in biology. Who knew HD photography would be quite so, well, revealing? Yet I wouldn’t trade this wild caper for any lost summer — there’s sheer delight in filming the journey, wobbles and all. Soft petals wrinkle,

I've been simply sizzling in the garden — grass toasted, roses wilting, and girls in summer clothes breezing past with the kind of confidence I’d only dreamed of at their age. Now, at 65, I take my kit off with a wink and a shrug; it’s liberating, hilarious, and sometimes a bit drafty. Who knew I’d be running my own OnlyFans page instead of pruning just bushes and singing in the choir in my retirement? Pruning body hair is another summer ritual: each snip and trim reminds me that boldness outlasts the tan lines. Out and about in the bone dry garden today — grass crackling underfoot, marigolds drooping like me after a particularly wild Saturday (distant memory though that is). I’m armed with a watering can and the urge to bare all (well, nearly) for a rain dance. If flashing the neighbours gets me a shower, so be it — my begonias are begging for moisture and the lawn’s about as brown as my last attempt at baking. Should I go full Monty for the sake of the hydrangeas? Someone fetch the hose and a pair of sunglasses, please!

The school summer holidays have just begun, the scent of sun cream and half-eaten ice lollies wafting through the air. Only six weeks left before we wave goodbye to the summer, and I’m juggling thongs, rogue socks, and the relentless kettle like a seasoned circus act. Today’s snapshots: me, embracing the curves amongst the leaves. It’s everyday magic — sunny, cheeky and a tad rebellious, just as Bee likes it. The countdown is on, but so is the fun!

There’s something quietly revealing about the way the morning light slices this picture in two, spilling across the bed and draping the bottom half of me in pure, golden warmth while the rest stays folded in gentle shade. Lying back, bare but for the touch of sunshine, I catch myself in the lens just as I am — thoughtful, unguarded, my face set in that familiar mix of pondering and slightly reserved. I recognise that version of me. It's one of my favourite Lady Bee captures, not for anything risqué, but because it’s unflinchingly honest; a half-lit confession that the world rarely gets to see. The sunshine finds the bits of me usually hidden under trousers and panties (and it's one of those occasions where my pubic hair is almost shaved bare, which I find a little shocking), while the shade offers some sort of thin veil, albeit a nipple escaping. There’s the gentle hum of the washing machine in the next room, the faint tang of lemon polish from yesterday’s half-hearted dusting, and the soft creak of the mattress as I shift my legs, sun-warmed and free in a way that’s usually reserved for dreams or quiet morning reveries.

Bank Holiday Monday, and — miracle of miracles — the sun’s out, Britain’s positively glowing. There I am, age 65, curves more glorious than the weather, and yes, a solid 1.5 stone heavier than I’d ever planned. In my twenties, I’d contort myself into anything remotely slimming: belts, Spanx, and the occasional panic at a school reunion (where I once hid behind a potted plant, convinced it would mask my hips — spoiler: it did not). Fast forward to today—nearly 9,000 photos and films on OnlyFans, every fold, swell and droop on display, and with The Beekeeper and you lovely lot cheering me on, I’ve realised it’s grand to let it all hang out. ‘Demure’—such a dainty little word, isn’t it? The dictionary would have us believe it means modest, reserved, perhaps holding back with a gentle blush and a downcast gaze. For most of my life, demure was a virtue to be cultivated; I learned to cross my ankles, never my legs, and to sip tea with just the right hint of discretion. But as the years rolled by and my “archive of assets” grew (in both senses), I’ve begun to wonder: can a woman who bares all for the lens, especially at 65, still be considered demure?

There’s a delicious contradiction here. My full frontal posts, resplendent with wrinkles and wobbles, seem worlds away from the old-fashioned notions of modesty. Yet, I find that demureness isn’t about hiding — it’s about owning oneself with quiet confidence. Even as I parade my peachy bits across cyberspace, there remains a reserve and a mystery that says, “You may see me, but you’ll never quite know me.” The art of being demure, I suspect, lies not in what is concealed, but in what is revealed with intention, playfulness, and a dash of British cheek. In truth, I feel more demure now than ever; for the first time, I am unapologetically myself, and that—paradoxically—is the greatest modesty of all.

To my followers, I say: the demure woman is not extinct, merely evolved. She’s hiding in plain sight, sometimes in a thong and sometimes behind a book, but always with a heart full of zest and wisdom. After all, a little mystery never hurt anyone—especially when it’s wrapped in a saucy smile.

Darlings, there’s nothing quite like the frisson of a library book club — the air thick with suspense, and the occasional saucy plot twist (courtesy of Mrs Wilkins and her dog-eared Mills & Boon). Since hanging up my office heels, I’ve found myself practically glued to the stacks, dispensing tea, wisdom, and the odd suggestion to 'turn over a new leaf'. Grown men blush as I recommend reading between the lines, and even the retired vicar’s glasses fog up when we get to the steamy chapters. There’s an art to shelving romance novels with the right sort of gusto; sometimes, one must slip in something a little unexpected for the next borrower. If you ever hear giggles behind the crime section, rest assured — it’s just me and the girls, plotting our next literary escapade. The library may be quiet, but my presence? Never.

P.S. Over tea and custard creams afterwards, Mr Wilkins, out of the blue, wondered aloud if it wasn’t about time I stopped dying my hair and 'went au naturel'. I simply smiled, popped a biscuit in my mouth, and replied, “Well, Mr Wilkins, a little mystery is the secret ingredient in every good story — and I’m not ready to give away all my plot twists just yet. And I can assure you I don't dye ALL my hair....”

At the Over 60's cake competition last week, judging was less about flavour and more about inventiveness. They say the Over 60's is genteel, but when Mrs Cartwright’s sponge collapsed like a deckchair in a gale, she simply dusted it with icing sugar and declared it ‘rustic’. Honestly, it was shaped more like a crumpled hat than a cake – a bit like my knickers after a long day, hanging on by sheer will and a prayer, all bunched up and defiant, much like me at sixty-five! Opinions flew around the hall like confetti at a wedding; everyone had their say, none held back. It reminded me of reading comments about my online photos – everyone has an opinion, and all of them are cheeky! After all that Over 60's malarkey, sometimes It makes me want to just wander off into a nearby field, peel off my clothes and stand on the tallest thing I can find! And I'd like to think if I did, I'd look as fresh as a buttered scone and twice as daring. But we all know that someone of my age and standing would never do that, much less pose photos of myself in the all-together and post them all online! Now, just imagine that! LOL! XXx

I started posting nudes at 49, as a dare—no illusion I’d rival their taut limbs or pouty poses. If beauty’s a sports car, I’m a vintage bicycle: a bit creaky, but with real charm and a basket full of stories. Nakedness isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, mind you; some folk online react as if I’ve served them a cold shower with their morning brew. Still, wisdom’s the real asset—like a well-loved cardigan: slightly frayed, but fits just right.
