Like, this is “good” vs “bad” technique:

There is still some waviness to that green line.

The expelled half-giant. The young werewolf. The repentant Death Eater.

He protects them and gives them a second chance. All he asks in return is their loyalty.

And, if on occasion he requests that they undertake a certain task, invoking their debt of gratitude - well, that is no more than he is owed.

He once thought to add a certain disowned Black to his collection, but quickly realised his mistake.

Sirius is not an outcast, but a rebel. He knowingly chose his path, and chooses what price he is willing to pay for it. He refuses to be used.

Harry was an outcast due to a childhood filled with abuse and neglect. 

Vernon made him an outcast by dismissing his claims of magic, berating him, locking him in a CLOSET and putting bars on his window, and let’s face it, even though her editor made her cut it out, Jo intended for there to be physical abuse. 

Petunia made him an outcast by enabling and contributing to this abuse, as well as making Harry do dozens of chores while doting on Dudley. 

Dudley made him an outcast by bullying him and threatening any students at school who wanted to be his friends. 

And the rest of the wizarding world made him an outcast when they bullied him for being an outsider.

Harry James Potter became an outcast the moment he was placed with The Dursleys.

Think about it What would Harry have been like if he had grown up in the wizarding world? Or, to put it another way, what would Harry have been like if he had grown up in a world where magic was the norm?

He would have taken magic for granted. He would have been less likely (especially as he got older) to view Dumbledore as a wise mentor and more likely to see him as flawed and capable of bad decisions. He would have seen both the world and Dumbledore as ordinary, with their good points and bad points.

But Dumbledore didn’t need a well-adjusted boy who took magic and the magical world for granted. He needed a child who would love the magical world unstintingly, even irrationally, because it was a haven from neglect and abuse. Even more, he needed a child who feared this world becoming evil and who therefore would not question someone that he saw as the ultimate authority, especially if he believed that obeying that authority would keep the world safe.

Even if obedience meant his own death.

Dumbledore wanted a martyr who would die for the wizarding world, because he believed that Voldemort could not die until Harry did. Which was why he left Harry with the Dursleys and let them neglect and emotionally abuse him for the next ten years.

Happening right now in Hong Kong - the police is firing rubber bullets and using batons, pepper spray, tear gas and water cannons on peaceful protesters who took the streets to protest against the passing of a controversial law which would allow China to extradite people.

Protesters set up camps, gave out snacks and surgical masks before all of this started. Tanks are apparenrly out in the streets as well and people are being hurt as I write this, but they are not backing down.

Most of the protesters are young people, university students, even high schoolers.

Meanwhile, the police had since blocked other ambulance vehicles from passing through and arrested the injured.

Ohmygod, YOU GO, YUURI!!!!!!!!! 🎉 So yes, they finally got to kiss ToT But honestly, how could Yuuri wait any longer, with the whole romantic cherry blossom setting and Victor being this adorable dork with his ice cream cones. No honestly, Victor and I have at least one thing in common and that is: WE HATE CAKE CONES! Not acceptable. Give us our soft ice cream only in waffle cones 😤

Phichit’s laptop was set on the table in the corner, ready to edit and post the photos as soon as he finished taking them. Yuuri always insisted on photos of the real products taken on the day of, wanting his customers to know exactly what it was they were coming in for. Phichit did claim it was better that way and that part of his billing to Yuuri included being able to enjoy the sweet smell of icing sugar on cooling sponge.

For Yuuri, April meant cherry blossoms. His signature creation for the month consisted of vanilla cake infused with a cherry blossom syrup he had made himself, the cream the softest pink he could mix without it being mistaken for white. Atop rested a trio of blossoms, two of them his hand-crafted sugar flowers and the third a genuine pickled blossom. The taste invoked the memory of the sakura mochi he used to eat with his sister back in Japan. Maybe it would not be the same for his customers, but he hoped they might create their own memories associated with the taste.

They had the cupcakes set on a wooden board that was scattered with more real blossoms—really, that was to say, Phichit had very deliberately positioned them around the cupcakes to create the best aesthetic for his photos. He did always make Yuuri’s work look incredible. Looking at photos, Yuuri sometimes did not recognize his own workmanship. Phichit was a genius. “I think I’m going to say no.”

“What, why? I thought you were gonna go for it. Don’t you think it would be pretty amazing?”

“I don’t know if it’s such a good idea right now. I don’t want to get overwhelmed.” Isabella had, reportedly, sent photos from her party to a contact of hers who worked in the magazine industry. As a result, Yuuri had multiple emails sitting in his inbox asking if he would agree to be featured in an upcoming issue. As the main article, which would entail print and online distribution to a readership number Yuuri was not comfortable repeating. That kind of pressure was an aspect Yuuri was not sure he could handle. Isabella’s upcoming wedding was already making him anxious with its accelerated timeline. He already had the stress of making the perfect cake for a friend on what was supposed to be her perfect day. Add a journalist following his every move and Yuuri might turn into a bigger mess than a smashed cake. All he wanted was to do his job well and make sure nothing went wrong. There would be other chances for press, for marketing himself. Yuuri would agree to that kind of thing, eventually. “The schedule is too tight.”

“Next time, right?”

“Yeah, next time.”

“How about Paris? You were thinking about it this year, right?”

Yuuri stayed quiet.
