aw thank you!! i think part of what really interests me in regard to pregnancy is the tension of having one's well-being so deeply interwoven with something that is incapable of providing any care in return (it's part of why i chose to have the abstracted humans only semi-conscious during the process; they're literally unaware of the impact they have on c4ine until after the fact). it's such an extremely vulnerable position to be in, and the acceleration ratchets it even higher by taking away the benefit of time. this is happening, it's happening now, and the question becomes how the character copes (or doesn't) with being trapped by their circumstances.
post-finale c4ine is perfect in this regard, because he is literally just starting to learn how to care for people, including, crucially, himself! He really, really wants to be good at it, which ends up running him straight into that tension and the vulnerability it comes with. i'm really glad to hear those aspects of the fic have been working together and grateful to you for giving it a shot! thanks again!!!
