As awful as he may have worded it, he literally made a point to say the opposite of this during that purcon answer so this is just an odd comment to me
I get using that fan interaction to prove he doesn’t remember parts of the show (because the script does literally say that when Dean says “that’s not who I am” to chuck, he is thinking of what Cas said) but I don’t really see how you can use it to prove that he’s uncomfortable with it
Thanks for sharing.
I don’t think he’s seen more of SPN as a whole than J or Misha. However, he does remember some episodes/scenes that he has mentioned. I don’t know what it is about those that make them stick in his memory, but there are some.
I have no idea what he meant by it only having an impact on their relationship when he was answering the fan in the auto line vs what was written on the script. Perhaps he didn’t view the change in Dean’s perception as a self-esteem? Self-perception is different from self-esteem and maybe that’s why he answered it the way he did and those people commenting on twitter don’t get that? I don’t know. I’m just guessing.

I’m telling ya, Soldier Boy is infecting his brain and scrubbing away the thoughtful answers he used to give 🤣🤣
I don't see that example as self esteem, so I don't think Jensen would necessarily think it had anything to do with Dean's self esteem? I mean if that example had been brought up to him, which it wasn't.
Just a random "did it effect his self esteem?" wouldn't do much to spark deeper thoughts.
I also just don't think the confession did anything in particular for his self esteem. Esp as he probably spent plenty of time beating himself because Cas died saving him. Maybe not so much he couldn't move on and try to live a worthy life but he was still trying to "earn" it.
I don't think Dean would have suddenly felt he was "worth it". Lifelong emotional damage doesn't tend to work that way. One more person you love dying doesn't make you go "hey you know what? I get it now. I'm worthy".
I feel pretty sure part of the reason he couldn't rest in Heaven is because he STILL didn't feel worthy.
So I think it's not far off to say Jensen probably didn't view Dean as having his emotional health healed by Castiel's declaration of love. It didn't hurt to hear it and I'm sure it gave him something to hold onto, to work towards , that at least Castiel felt he was worth the sacrifice but that doesn't mean Dean himself did.
Self-esteem is the wrong word. Self-worth might be better.
Because Dean not killing Chuck because he realized and acknowledged that wasn’t who he was absolutely came directly from the things Castiel said to him before he died.
Agreed.
Oh that's agreed, but it's not what he was asked so it's not what he answered, is all I'm saying.
