here's everything i know and think about william shatner. bill is the worst, bill is amazing. he is supremely cunty. he can ride a horse at full gallop, he lived in a trailer park post-star trek, starred in the most unimaginably bad b-movies. he wears the shit out of a toupe, speaks his lines in iambic pentameter and stole wigs from sets. bill is capable of very sensitive insight, but far better enjoys being the bull in the china shop. he is a campy, sentimental, pulpy director when they let him have the camera. he loved leonard nimoy. in a single scene he can simultaneously be the best and worst actor in the room. he has starred in one of the only espranto films in existence. he has been feuding with george takei for over 50 years. he has a controversial twitter which apparently he doesn't run. he went to space and he hated it. he won't autograph shit unless you pay for it. he was greenpeace save-the-whales guy. bill recorded an entire spoken-word record wacked out of his mind on weed. he appears self-obsessed. bill is the most complicated man to ever exist. everyone hates him everyone loves him. i do not always understand william shatner and i do not always like him, but i treasure him.

Offhand Manor is out of spoons...
Doug: I love when my physical and mental disabilities gang up on me and have an 80's dance-off to see who gets to fuck me up this time...
I’m relating to this post all too well lately. (Told my mom this morning “I am so. fucking. sick of having to go through hostage negotiations with my body just to get out of bed.”)
Characters being compared to dogs always use terriers or pitbulls or something for their metaphors. “They grab on and they don’t let go” “They keep worrying at it until it’s dead” etc.
Anyway, I want to see collies used as metaphors. Albert Payson Terhune style. “He was like an attack dog–making slash-and-run attacks, cutting them up worse every time, never staying in range long enough to get hurt but circling back over and over.”
@animatedamerican yes EXCELLENT.
“He was like a bloodhound–not actually that violent at all, but his reputation did the work for him.”
“He was like a corgi: by all signs unaware that a fight was even happening, just enthusiastic and delighted to be involved.”
“He was like a labrador– so known for being friendly and having a soft mouth that everyone forgot that he was actually quite large and had teeth.”
“He was like a poodle - much smarter than you’d expect for someone with such flamboyant hair ”
“He was like an Irish Wolfhound - he could do more damage being friendly than most people could do in a blind rage.”
He was like a beagle - AAAUUUUUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *breath* AUUUUUUUUUUUUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Tags via @ragsy: #he was like a mutt; no one knew what he was meant to be and everyone was disappointed in him anyway
He was like a Newfoundland: much too lazy to be dealing with any of this, but willing to get up and bodycheck the person causing the problem if it would mean he could go back to sleep.
He was like a Street Dog: He was scared and hungry. He would rather avoid a fight if he could… But god forbid you gave him a reason to bite you.
He was like a golden doodle; He was adorable in every conceivable way but was surprisingly good with his words
He was like a husky; soft and caring but would not shut the fuck up
He was like a Jack Russell Terrier, clearly outmatched but refusing to believe it.
He was like that one very specific collie/shepherd cross I (the author) knew – too energetic and mischievous to leave alone, and surprisingly happy to intimidate strangers into giving him food.
She was like a borzoi — elegant and otherworldly, prone to long periods of what could politely be called reflection and accurately labeled laziness. But you shouldn’t let her long hair and serene gaze fool you; when something caught her eye, she was ruthless, fast, and unstoppable. She came from a long line of hunters, after all, that even wolves knew to fear.

COVID: Speaking Out About Rubynye
It has been two and a half years since COVID killed my husband, so this is particularly important to me.
If you were friends with @rubynye also known as minoanmiss in other forums, I am collecting photos of her and if art or care packages she sent out as part of a memorial slide show. I sincerely hope this is not how you're finding out.
Please feel free to DM me if you have any photos for this purpose.
What comics should i read to get into night wing and tim?
and- you don't have to say- could I get them or read them?
well - that depends. nightwing & robin, as dick grayson and tim drake, spent about a couple of decades in real life time being the only robins and developing an intense brotherhood and friendship. so there are many, many comics about them.
if you want to read about dick & tim through chronological order, there's this wonderful guide by @silverwhittlingknife that you can find here, that starts with batman (1940), i. 436 and batman: a lonely place of dying, which are tim drake's origin stories, and goes through the 90s, 2000s, and up until the reboot of 2011 with the new 52.
it's what i used when i first started to want to read comics about them, and you'll see many fans referencing the comics that came out in this time period because it's when dick & tim first forged their relationship and when they're most dick & tim centric.
if you want some individual issues that highlight dick & tim's relationship, here are some in this time period that i really love:
nightwing (1996), i. 6, i. 25, & i. 143
the new titans (1988), i. 65
robin (1993), i. 67, i. 74, & i. 76
detective comics (1937), i. 697 - 699
batman: gotham knights (2000), i. 8 - 11
robin (1993), i. 10
dcu holiday bash, i. 3
if you want some recommendations for comic books that tell the grand events in the batman storyline, in the era 90s - 2000s, i can recommend you:
batman: knightfall & batman: prodigal
batman: contagion & batman: legacy
the trilogy of batman: cataclysm, batman: road to no man's land, and batman: no man's land
the joker's last laugh
the resurrection of ra's al ghul
(there are more, but those are the ones i like.)
you also have the events of infinite crisis in which bruce wayne dies, and in the follow-up comic book of the battle for the cowl, dick grayson takes the mantle as batman for the second time. from this onward, i can recommend you:
red robin (2009)
batman and robin (2009), i. 20
it's not really my favourite era, lol.
afterwards, in the reboot of 2011, new 52, and the reboot of 2016, rebirth, tim suffered a lot as a character and lost most of the connections he had with his family, so we don't have many comics from him, never mind some in which he teams up with dick.
nowadays, you have a few comics that feature dick & tim team ups, but i'm not an expert in recent comics and i've yet to read through many new issues of detective comics & other batman-affiliated stories. the ones i've read that i've liked well enough are these, even if they don't focus on dick & tim, at least they're together... anyways:
batman: urban legends (2021), i. 10
nightwing (2016), i. 78 - 83
robins (2021)
in addition to all of these, you also can read non-canonical comics that feature dick & tim, and watch animated series that have them interact, too; just keep in mind these are non-canonical and can be out of character since they follow their own timelines. out of them all, my favourites are:
batman: gotham adventures (1998)
the new batman adventures (1997) - animated series.
wayne family adventures (2021)
young justice (2010) - animated series.
-> to read comics online, you may use this website. if you want to get them physically, unless you have a comic book store near you, you may order them off amazon (although they're mostly available in english). to watch the animated series online, you may use this website.
happy reading!

WTF.
big shout out to tumblr for being the first major site in like two years to implement an ill-advised "feature" nobody wants, likes or respects that doesn't involve AI

Some ways to honor Terry Pratchett on his death day, march 12th
Strive to understand people you perceive as different from you

It's been 20 years since the infamous My Immortal fan fiction was posted, and I'm sorry to report that it does not hit the same any longer, as in that span of time many equivalent works have been published to Kindle Unlimited and received 4 and a half stars on Goodreads.
actually crying at my auntie's commentary on Transformers prime. the fandom could never. this 63 y/o Haitian woman has all the right takes.
she said, grimly, of megatron: "if he were mine i would beat him"
her commentary on smokescreen: "someone give this child the attention he wants so obviously"
ratchet: "this is the doctor? this is you. he is gay? yes, he's gay. i can tell. he is in love with Mr. Optimus"
she said she can sense the paternal instinct in bulkhead and approves greatly
her commentary on optimus: "he seems sad"
she just said of Dreadwing: "He is VERY handsome" OK AUNTIE OK AUNTIE OK AUNTIE
we just got to the part where Megatron kills Dreadwing and I think I just learned about five new curses in Haitian Creole
we're in s3.
about bulkhead: "why does he keep calling that wheeljack guy 'jackie'? is it because they are married?"
about shockwave: "he is just as petty as starscream. i can TELL. he is better at hiding it though"
about ratchet in the junkyard: "he is depressed :("
about half dead optimus: "put this sir on life support. he is unwell"
All funny, but “mister Optimus” and lusting over Dreadwing top it.
Some island love for @anagramofbrat...
I think Tumblr will love this
For the love of GOD turn the volume on
every day someone thinks of an art form no one did before
Deadpool’s instructive video may save your testicles
This is both entertaining and really important.
Yo if you’ll reblog the boob campaign, you can damn well reblog Deadpool discussing bollocks.
Deadpool is canonically riddled with cancer this is actually such an appropriate campaign
My cousin, 6 months older than me (and ten years ago), died just before his 40th birthday because he was afraid to find out it was cancer, so DIDN’T GET TO THE DOCTOR. PLEASE DO BETTER FOR YOURSELF.
