Alternately or additionally: the staff always ask everyone’s species before serving them because one of the hazards of running any sort of food service business in a species-diverse city or space station or whatever is you have to be very careful to avoid accidentally poisoning somebody by doing the equivalent of feeding a pan of fudge to a dog. Lists and tables of what food is appropriate for what species would also be helpful in avoiding serving people stuff that’s technically edible but unappetizing to them (a human could probably technically safely eat a lot of the stuff on the Kzin menu if the meat was handled properly, but they probably wouldn’t enjoy most of it).
I think it might be quite interesting to see what sort of food culture might emerge in a community made up of multiple different intelligent species with different biologies and diets.
