Dick: *spills his cereal*
Damian: Womp womp.
āāāāāāā
Jason: *lights a cigarette*
Damian: You smell like you're being cremated.
Jason:
Jason: *puts it out*
āāāāāāā
Damian: I'm done with my part of our mission report.
Tim: That was fast. Let me see.
Tim: *reads it*
Tim: Did you write it with an AI? Damian, I know you're perfectly capable of doing it yourself.
Damian: But Jon's Twitch stream is about to start.
Tim: I don't care, I'm telling Bruce.
Damian: Not if I do it first. FATHER, DRAKE WROTE HIS MISSION REPORT WITH AI!
āāāāāāā
Duke: Remember Subway Surfers?
Damian: Remember when your bones were silent?
āāāāāāā
Steph: *eating a burger*
Damian: All mammals are related to a common ancestor on the evolutionary tree so eating meat is basically cannibalism.
Steph: *takes out a paper bag*
Steph: *puts it over Damian's head*
Steph: *continues eating*

Damian: *hands her his iPad*
Barbara: ...You don't have a PC?
Damian: What do I need that for?
āāāāāāā

Damian: Is it just me or did it suddenly get geriatric in here?
āāāāāāā
Alfred: Master Damian, could you kindly enlighten me on what this "Skibidi Toilet" the children are talking about is?
Damian: *pulls up a slideshow with the full lore*
Damian: You may want to sit down.
āāāāāāā
Selina: *doing her makeup*
Damian: What's your skincare routine? My friend Maya wants it.
Selina: Come back in eight years and I'll tell you.
āāāāāāā
Gala guests: *milling around*
Damian: You must be my father's NPCs.
Bruce: I apologize about my son.
Bruce: *drags Damian away*
he's fighting a beautiful buff lady. her shirt gets ripped and she's left in her slutty little tank top. "come on," you think. "why is the woman always wearing sexier things than her male counterparts." but fear not. now HE takes off his shirt and he's left in HIS slutty little tank top. equality. and then they kiss
If your goal is to normalize gender-nonconformity youāre gonna have to accept that some people will fuck with gender as hard as they can while still being unequivocally, 100% cis and that is okay. Thereās no egg to crack or callout to write. This is a good thing actually.
Yeah. I knew in college, so far as I know, a cis guy who liked dresses. And he wore dresses, and sometimes people would say "you are a man in a dress" and he would say "yeah".
i really hope this is about f1nn5ter because i am so sick of people trying to call him out for fetishizing trans women or whatever when he has literally never called himself anything other than a man. like cmon man people can dress however they want none of us owe you traditional binary looks

When I talk about the value of work vs. the wages the worker gets, this is exactly what Iām talking about.Ā And today, more of that value winds up going to the shareholders than even the business owners.

Had a doc appt (just my yearly checkup) a couple days ago and I asked her about checking to see if my measles vaccine from when I was a kid was still good, since Iād heard it could lose effectiveness over time. She nodded and had a lab done and turned out I was NOT still immune to measles, so got my booster today.
Get your vaccines, folks!
āI have a question about a vaccine,ā I say, and the look ofĀ āgod fuckin dammnit not againā that flashed across this poor doctorās face, followed by abject relief when I saidĀ āIāve heard that the measles vaccine can lose effectiveness over time and Iād like to make sure mine is still good.ā says everything really.Ā
āOh thank god,ā she literally said.Ā āYes of course. Thatās true, and we can do a blood test and see. If you donāt still have antibodies we can get you a booster scheduled.āĀ
āThat question goes poorly a lot, doesnāt it,ā I say.Ā
āYou have no idea.ā
Boosting this (lol, pun unintended but allowed to stand with pride) and adding: measles often needs updating in adulthood, theyāll usually throw in a rubella update with it; chickenpox might also need updating, mine did; and get your whooping cough updated, especially if you spend time around pregnant folk or small babies. (I say this from an Australian perspective.)
I was also no longer immune to measles. Had to update that one at age 33. Only found out on accident because they checked my immunity for a healthcare job I was working. If not for that, I never would have known
Also, if you had chicken pox as a kid before the vaccine came out, youāre gonna need a shingles vaccine at some point.
Just off the cuff, I think the reason measles boosters arenāt pushed is a lag from when the likelihood that someone from a place with measles still relatively active would visit a place where measles had been functionally eradicated was relatively low.
Between globalization and vaccine skepticism, the likelihood is almost assuredly growing. Bigly.
Guess who got disqualified from the Hugo Awards for unclear, most possibly political reasons!!

ICYMI: Earlier this week, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh tweeted a photo of the transgender pride flag flying over Bostonās City Hall for the first time. He said it willĀ ācontinue to fly until all citizens see equality under Massachusetts law,ā a nod to a bill in Massachusetts that would extend nondiscrimination protections for trans people. Well done. (via the Boston Globe)

Take a good look at the countries leading/have started the legal battles to hold the IOF accountable -their fights to end IOF terrorism and war crimes, as this should have been done months ago, are now beginning.
So many Palestinian people have been genocided, and the rampant global government inaction has caused chaos, death, and destruction of Gaza... I just hope this leads to a permanent ceasefire and an end to the occupation. I truly do.

Since I'm reading many people disheartened at the lack of ordering a ceasefire by the ICJ, here's some info:
The ruling was BIG and far more than many expected. I, for one, certainly did not expect that the German judge ruled in favor of all of the provisional measures, nor that the Israeli judge would rule in favor of some of them. That is absolutely ground-breaking.
This ruling, whilst not final, will change the course of how the international community is going to act towards Israel, because now they are all going to be very careful not to be complicit in what potentially might be ruled as an actual genocide in the merits case (which will likely take years, but that's how it goes).
Governments and individuals have a face to lose, and the ICJ ruling is one more nail in the coffin of their complicity.
Edit, another tweet:
To boil it down heavily and make a bit of an abstraction, the ICJ basically ordered a ceasefire without using the word "ceasefire" directly. Owen Jones and Oona Hathaway's tweets in the original post explain it perfectly!
It isn't out of the ordinary for courts to word things in a sort of roundabout way like this due to a long list of factors present in international law / law in general. Also just in general legal language like this differs from how we talk to each other in our daily lives.
Basically, this is fantastic news and will help the Palestinians massively! I get why people might feel disheartened, but this is not necessary - this is still a massive W regardless of the way it's formulated!
itās nice to see some positivity, but truly what are the chances that israel actually complies?? and the next steps if they donāt? asking for a cessation without saying the words āceasefireā feels less absolute and generally easier to talk around. what kind of enforcement is there so palestinians can see tangible benefits?
Israel very likely will not comply. Like, we can say that at pretty much 100% certainty.
What that then means, though, is that it will fail to provide the ICJ with proof that it has been avoiding committing genocidal acts, which then will enable the security council - or rather require it! - to impose measures against Israel. Those could and would likely include outlawing all military support to Israel, criminalizing complicity by other countries and using any diplomatic tools at their disposal, including wider sanctions.
Furthermore, it could also enable other countries to issue arrest warrants against individuals who have failed to prevent genocide, under universal jurisdiction.
There are even measures/tools that can make this happen even if the US still vetoes such a resolution by the security council, now that we have this ruling; the general assembly could then pass an enforceable resolution instead.
This all sounds very slow and far in the future, but I honestly believe there was no other way to speed this up. ICJ did not have jurisdiction in this case to call for a CF (because that would require it ordering *both* parties to commit to one, and Hamas does not fall under their jurisdiction), nor would a CF have been as broad as saying "stop doing genocide, now and forever." CFs can be broken.
It's unsatisfactory because people will continue to suffer, but there was likely no other option. Unless the US (and the few European countries of influence who are still siding with Israel) put pressure on Israel right now and withdraw all their military and other aid instantly. Because that is what's practically needed to stop Israel. And that won't happen before the wheels of international law turn to trigger the right mechanism.
THINGS I NEED TO FUCKING KNOW: Why every fuckin trans man or nb person I know who binds is likeĀ āoh binders are the worst, you canāt breathe in them, I know someone who broke a rib onceā,
And meanwhile over in historical costuming, we are fucking eating, sleeping, swordfighting, riding horses, and feeling great like this:
(credit: Jenny La Flamme, The Tudor Tailor, Verdaera)
Like is there NO overlap between people who want to bind and people who care about accurate 16th century clothing reconstruction techniques?
(I, okay, maybe it is kind of a niche interest, butā¦. REALLY? Anyone whoās made a boned binder, PLS SPEAK TO ME)
Omigods yes thatās what I used to make my trial binding corset for under a 1830ā²s gentlemanās costume! I adapted the Elizabethan Pattern Generator Corset to look more like the gentlemanās corset of the time as portrayed in satirical cartoons.
This was only the second pair of stays I made, but it already made me practically flat and was quite comfortable. I didnāt even full bone it and it looked like this:
(donāt judge me for the awful way the boning sticks out at the top, I am by no means a corsetry expert)
People who are actually good at stays will be able to make things like these with no trouble, because if something made from old sheets and recycled boning can do this, imagine what you can do with proper materials.
Just for fun, hereās me in my gentlemanās outfit:
It basically eliminates my boobs, but leaves the hips alone because at that time the hourglass silhouette was fashionable for men as well. Iām not exactly flat-chested, so Iād say for a first attempt this one is very succesful.
ā¦okay, was anyone going to tell me that gentlemenās corsets were A Thing or did I just have to learn that in a random reblog myself
they absolutely make corsets for men and they turn me a bit ravenous every time
(in the mid-late 19th century, at least, they were more often called āhealth beltsā and marketed much like weight belts are today. in practice, though, the number of satirical cartoons depicting dandies lacing down suggests that they were publically perceived as vanity tools more than aids for heavy lifting. where the truth of their most common purpose lies is a mystery; I would guess somewhere in the middle)
@star-anise genuine answer to the question:
it is because everyone says binders hurt and compress and break your ribs. when youāre first seeing information about binding, itās all about how binding is unsafe and will physically hurt. I donāt mean to lecture you, just to give a real answer to the question
and the answer is that by the time someone works up the courage to start binding, they haveāat minimumāseen multiple sources of information claim that binding is unsafe and physically hurts, as absolute medical fact. most likely, they havenāt seen ANY information refuting this. at all.
so step one is deciding you need to bind badly enough that you will endure physical pain and potential medical complications
and then you buy a binder thatās most likely shit quality, made from materials meant to compress, barely one step above ace bandages. there are tons of these ābindersā out there, sold for very cheap by scammy companies
and remember, you think is is Absolute Medical Fact that this is just how it is. so youāre probably not doing much searching for ābetterā materials or a ābetterā company because there is no better. you have absolutely NO conception whatsoever that it could be better
then, even if you do get a quality binder made with good materials, binder sizes are genuinely out of touch with actual reality. I weighed maybe 115 lbs and the binder that fit me comfortably was a size LARGE. I had never in my life been anything less than a small. I started by ordering a medium because I have just-barely-C cups and knew I would start putting on weight with the testosterone andā
I could barely get it on. it was SO tight. any other piece of clothing in the entire universe and I would have immediately recognized āoh hey this isnāt my sizeā
except binding is unsafe and physically hurts
so even with a quality binder from a good company, because I accidentally ordered a size too small, I still almost ended up binding in a way that was unsafe and physically hurts because thatās what I expected! it was working AS INTENDED!!
it was working as intended
for anyone still reading along, that is the POINT of a lot of information out there about binding. for the same reason conservatives tell you if youāre gay, youāll die of AIDs, then point to the statistics of all the people who died of AIDs, and fight so so SO hard to make sure thereās no proper sex education to tell you about condoms or PrEP (taken to prevent getting HIV) or treatment afterwards or how your viral load can be suppressed or that it actually can be managed now and isnāt a quick death sentence
I ordered one size up (the large size), and that gave me a binder that fit like a tank top. It has a stiff cotton panel in the front that is just tight enough to press down on my chest, but mostly it just redistributes how the fat sits to make a more even, flat across shape. you can see in the first pictures how the front panel forms almost like a cone, that may not be completely FLAT (it still pushes out a little) but there arenāt any curves or noticeable ābreast shapeā
my binder doesnāt leave red marks or dig into my skin. the shoulder straps are wide and, again, distribute the weight more evenly than a lot of bra straps Iāve worn before, which did dig in and leave red marks. I think a lot of people also approach binding from a background of wearing ill-fitting bras, bc no one really teaches us about or helps us size those either, so weāre already used to āchest undergarment that hurts meā
the binder I have is safe to exercise and swim in while wearing, it pulls on and off over my head like a tank top, and I can take full and deep breaths while wearing it. I have never been short of breath or struggled to breath from wearing it
binding does not have to be unsafe and should NOT physically hurt. if it does: the materials are wrong (compression) or the size is simply too small
Letās talk some more about sizing.
The standard advice re: measuring for a mass-produced binder is to measure your circumference just under your armpits, then just below your bust, and use the largest.
The problem is, that region of your ribcage is very sturdy, but the lower part of your ribcage is much more flexible and vulnerable.
It is very important for your long-term health to avoid compressing those lower ribs.
Poke yourself with your fingers to find the place where your sternum/breastbone ends. Measure two or three finger-widths down from there, to find the point where your ribs move the most while breathing. Take in a very deep, full breath, and hold it while you measure your circumference at this point.
Your binder or corset needs to accommodate this measurement.
Rest in peace Kenpachiro Satstuma (1947-2023)
Since godzilla minus one is having a huge impact all over the world, I thought I'd make a tribute to one of the amazing actors/stuntman who worked on the godzilla saga.
Kenpachiro Satstuma wore the suit from 1984 to 1995 during the Heisei Era. Many fans got introduced to godzilla thanks to his work. He also worked during the 70's as antagonists kaijus. I got into the godzilla saga when i was 8 yo thanks to godzilla vs destroyah (1995) and many others. Kenpachiro 's work means a lot to me since it's part of my childhood. If you are curious feel free to learn more about him and see how difficult it can be to wear these heavy suits.
The Twin Jades continue staring at each other. Out the corner of his eye, Wei Wuxian sees the servant bowing and fleeing, and is intensely jealous.
